No automatic scanning of airports / app reconnection issues

Featured Replies

Hi Nico,

I notice that in the last few builds you have added an automatic scanning of airports to the program startup. Is there a way to disable that? My enabled airports rarely change and yet I have to wait for the scan to finish. I have the following parameter in my parameters.xml file, but I assume that it is not deprecated? " <parameter name="ALWAYS_SCAN_AIRPORTS" value="false" />"

Is it possible to re-enable that, although I note that we have now also lost the ability to launch a scan from the UI?

On a separate note, if I start PSXT and the RT app before entering the flight, I find that it's very fragile and PSXT constantly restarts the connection (especially if I started them up during the sim loading). They also almost never work when I load a new flight after completing a flight, entering a constant reconnection cycle in PSXT. Is this a known issue and I should just close them both before starting a new flight?

Thank you.

There was a hidden SKIP_AIRPORT_SCAN parameter, but in version 15.14.0 I have promoted it to a check box in the UI which is easier for you.
Just curious, how long does the scan takes at your end? Over here, with 120 simaddon and 30 addon airports, it takes no longer then 4 seconds ...

Your other question: It is difficult for me to understand what you mean with a constant reconnection cycle... I have never experienced that.
Could you gave me a scenario in which you step by step explain what you are doing and what you noitce from RTApp + PSXT. Then I can try to do the same to see what is going wrong (or not).

Note that in general it is better to start PSXT + RT App after the Sim is running, because what you do will always result in a restart of PSXT because it will detect that a new flight is loaded. However, it should never result in a loop...

I will try to capture the exact sequence. In the meantime, after updating to 15.14.0, the timing from first seeing the interface to finishing the scan is 12 seconds for 168 third party and 141 sim-addons. This is after the initial load in 15.14 took 26 seconds, but maybe there were other things being cached/reloaded.

I also prefer to not scan as I have a few airports that still don't get seen by the scan (old marketplace purchases) so I have manually made my own my_thirdparty files for them and they work great, until the next airport scan.

It is always surprising to see that guys like you and Mike and others find ways to use my program in ways I, as developer, never had foreseen ;-)

Lol.. Finding work arounds for when it doesn't work as planned. ;)
