Enjoy your flight sir!

It might have taken 7 or 8 hours coast to coast but you got to enjoy legroom and a scrumptious meal on a TWA Connie in a roomy coach seat instead of having to get out of a cramped coach seat and your peanuts and can of Pepsi to help the crew duct tape an unruly passenger to his seat.

Enjoy your flight sir and let me know if need anything else.

How many of you remember this?

The tires are worn.  The shocks are shot.  The steering is wobbly.  But the engine still runs fine.

Got to tour a Super Conny at Los Angeles Intl. Airport when I was about 6 years old, around 1955. My parents
and me took some friends to, the airport and we were early, so while we were in the gate area, the Head
Stewardess asked if we would like a tour! It was great! Got to meet the flight crew in the cockpit.

Trying to keep peace and harmony and the will of Landru on the site seems to be a full time job!

That's a bit before my time, but I do remember a flight I took from Charleston to Nashville back in 1993.

The flight was only half full, so I had a row all to myself. There were ashtrays in the armrests and you could smoke once the plane was at cruising altitude. I think the smoking ban on flights went into effect not long after that. BTW, I never thought smoking should be allowed on airplanes due to safety risks and the fact that it bothers some people. Even Imperial airways didn't allow smoking on their planes back in the 1920s and 30s.

The last flight we took back in 2014 was a nightmare. The plane was packed, hot while on the ground, and people were annoying and unfriendly. That's the last time I flew in a modern flying cattle car. The only way I'd fly again is if we vacation in Italy, and only because I don't have any other choice.
