If you guys could have anything you wanted in an audio system for FSX (think GaugeSound.DLL replacement here for 3rd party devs), what functions would you have?To name a few...Volume Control3D SoundLooping AbilitySupport for the WMA audio formatLet's hear it!Bryan

Actually, beyond the first three, I don't see need for much else! I'm certainly interested in a replacement for gaugesound.dll especially since it is unlikely to work beyond FSX...

I agree with Bill. I also agree with your move to XACT... I'm getting seriously hacked off with unmanaged DirectSound. Having said that though, the 'problem' with XACT/managed DirectX is that a lot of the inner workings are hidden from you, so you'll never know what may come back to bite you later. With unmanaged DirectSound, you have to do it all so there's no-one else to blame when it falls over. But, as we know, DirectX is being deprecated so it's another no-choice scenario. You'll most likely get there before I do as I've currently temporarily abandoned sound generation. Sooner or later though, I have to go back to it.-Dai
