August 13, 200619 yr Hi there,Does anyone know whether GMax will be replaced as the stock 3D modeling software for FSX? Seeing that official support for GMax is limited, any ideas if they will be going with a more 'accessible' package?
August 13, 200619 yr No. As I understand it MS have come to an arrangement with the suppliers of GMax and it will ship with FSX. Jon ------- Microsoft Flight Sim MVP Airport Design Editor FSDeveloper.com
August 14, 200619 yr I placing a gmax object I'd made into the FSX demo scenery....it worked fine. Hopefully that means most or all of the existing object libraries will be compatible. :-) Sidney Schwartz KPDX
August 15, 200619 yr Sounds Good to me, I'll continue learning GMAX, may even buy FS9.:-) I noticed the demo did not have a modules folder. Does this mean that such things are redundant in preference of something else? Or is the facility disabled for the demo?Geoff
August 15, 200619 yr That's excellent news. Although gmax does have a bit of a learning curve, it's a superb modelling program. I just hope they bring out a more user-friendly exporter this time around.... Best regards, Chris
August 15, 200619 yr I understand that FSDS v3 works also. Lot of people using that in lieu of GMax.I'm afraid our biggest problem will be AFCAD. It won't read the airports in the demo....but hopefully that is just a demo issue.
August 15, 200619 yr >>but hopefully that is just a demo issue.I am afraid not - the format of those files in FSX has changed. AFCAD2 files can be read in FSX however. Jon ------- Microsoft Flight Sim MVP Airport Design Editor FSDeveloper.com
August 15, 200619 yr Author I see in the supplied scenery that specular and bump maps are used. So the use of materials in the design software seems to be improved.scott s..
