RC3 and PSS Aircraft

Featured Replies

The threads below are confusing to me.Will RC 3 work with the PSS Airbus and 747 etc. I don't know enough about the program to understand the comm radio 2 issues, but those are all I fly.Greg

Hi Greg,The answer to your question is YES and NO, not to confuse you (grin). First, Radar Contact v3 will work with any aircraft including the PSS Airbus and 747. You just need to place the ADV display on the PSS "bus" or 747 panel and you will be working just fine. Now for the NO, PSS has a autopilot that is NOT based on the MSFS autopilot, therefore RC cannot control or "fly" the PSS planes with its "OTTO" pilot function. To put it simply (I HOPE)), PSS and the PIC 767 aircraft have autopilots that are only controlled by their FMC's or through manual control. They do not allow any 3rd party program to interface with them.In the Radar Contact manual is a very through discription on how to add comm 2 radio to your PSS Airbus and 747 radio stack. This will give you the capability to monitor FS2002 ATC. When you activate Radar Contact it will auto tune your current comm 1 freq's for all ATC functions such as weather, clearance delivery, ground, tower, depature, center and approach. You don't have to do anything special to get these functions. As I stated, if you ALSO want to monitor the FS2002 ATC function then you need to add the comm 2 capability.Read the manual on these functions and if you have any problems that you think you need extra help with just post them and we will help you get them resolved.Hope this helpsBob Johnson

Greg,Ok :)RCv3 will happily work with both the PSS 747 and Airbus. I have completed many flights with no problems. Remember though, these are AC that do not use the default FS autopilot so you will not be able to hand control over to the RC Co-Pilot. This is not an issue as both these AC will normally be flown via the FMC/FMS.Now, if you wish to hear FS chatter as well as RC you must tell FS to use Comm 2. RC will use Comm 1 by default. With the PSS 747 it's just a case of adding a further window for Comm 2 via the panel.cfg. Five min job. Easy. The PSS Airbus is equipped with two Comm radios. In theory you should be able to make Comm 2 the active via the VHF 2 button on the pedestal. However, this isn't the case. I was hoping one of the PSS team would pick up on this. As yet, nada. It's probably something simple.Of course, if you're not bothered about hearing FS chatter then the last three paragraphs are of no consequence anyway :-hahFly away!EDIT:Hah, Bob beat me by a minute ;)

dean, what I was afraid off has happened I think: the PSS A320 can only have one active radio, even though you can select two different frequencies into comm1 and comm2,you can never select them at the same time,so this might be a very serious problem for those who'd like to use PSS A320 and RC3 together (including me)if this is true (I'm not 100% sure),I hope PSS and JD will try to find a solution for this)

One of the few threads I didn't read. Typical eh.Great solution Joe.

Joe,Thanks for the modification for the PSS Airbus. Does anyone have one to add the COM2 for the PIC767?

Hi Mike,This addition was done by another user for PIC sometime back. It adds the second comm under the the throttles and the audio selector above comm1. http://ftp.avsim.com/dcforum/User_files/3dea39e042a0984f.jpgUnder *Window04* (the pedestal) add the following lines: gauge07=boeing777-300!Audio, 11,453,183,41 gauge08=boeing777-300!Comm 2, 228,424,136,56If I remember right you may need to adjust the *Radios* section of the aircraft.cfg file also. I have not used this one as much, but should work the same.Joehttp://jdtllc.com/images/RCsupporter.jpg

At the PSS web site, under User Edits, is a panel mod by "Carsten Blumel" (PSS_mod_panel2.zip) that improves the view out of the PSS Airbus plus add the audio control panel. Works very will when getting atis info and not leaving center freq. But just like the real world, they sometimes speak at the same time on both channels, very confusing.Steve ParkKSDFWWW.Flightbase2000.com

Hi Joe, that looks very useful, but I can't work out which parameters to change (and to what) in the aircraft.cfg.My Radios section looks like this:// Radio Type = availiable, standby frequency, has glide slopeAudio.1 = 1Com.1 = 1, 1Com.2 = 1, 1Nav.1 = 1, 1, 1Nav.2 = 1, 1, 0Adf.1 = 1Transponder.1 = 1Marker.1 = 1Do I change the first 1 to a 2 in each of the Com lines, or is it more complicated than that?Thanks for any helpBryn

Many thanks to all for this discussion, I will try this out when I get my copY!Greg
