December 3, 200223 yr problem here. I loaded up RCv3.0 per directions (full install) last night. I thought about my first RC3 flight ALL day long. The anticipation was there. I was stoked! First, I've read (and read) the manual. I followed to the letter the instructions on page 108: I loaded FS2k2. Set my ERJ at KCLE gate D4, set the time and date. Using FSNav4.5, I entered my flight plan to KMDW (KCLE..SKY.VWVB.GSH.GSH3..KMDW). I exported the flight plan to FS2002 as per the instructions. I started FSMeteoe. Set my destination. I opened the flight planner and entered the flight plan into FS2k2. I then went to RC3 and, following the instructions, loaded my flight plan, set the controller info, and set the options. Here's the problem: After I hit the "Start RC" button and go to FS2k2, my a/c is not at the gate -- NO!!! I'm flying somewhere, in a stall, at over 500 kts!!!!!!! :-mad This has NEVER happened before with any other RC product (and, I've had them all). I tried the flight twice with the same results. My EMB145 was set at the gate "Cold & Dark". I have FSUIPC v 2.94. :~P :-zhelp :-zhelp :-zhelp Steve Lewis, KCLE
December 3, 200223 yr Steve,Start FS. Select Modules, then FSUIPC. On the Tech tab you'll see "No Reposition on GPS Plan Load". Be sure this is checked.hope this helps!
December 3, 200223 yr Author checked. At first I thought that when loading RC3 FSUIPC was overwritten since I already had FSUIPC v 2.94. But, apparently it didn't. Still no idea why. My FSUIPC is still like I left it. I tried setting up my flight a third time by repositioning another a/c to CLE. Same results. I hit "Start RC" and when I went to FS2k2 it was Paused. When I un-paused it, my a/c was going 250+ kts in a take off mode -- right through the terminal!Steve
December 4, 200223 yr Steve,This is neither an RC nor FSUIPC issue. That's an FS2K2 problem. I'll almost guarantee there's no flatten switch on that airport tarmac. If your gear isn't sitting squarely on the ground when you unslew, then you go shooting off. It's a completely useless and stupid feature of 2K2.Try a different airport, or try being in slew mode then press "a" to get onto the ground. Also, try not loading the FS plan into FS until RC is running.
December 4, 200223 yr Scott,I've never, ever seen this. Have you? If it's happening at KCLE (?), it'd happen at all fields I'd think. This one's toooo interesting!
December 4, 200223 yr Author OK. Tried another a/c (TWA MD83 at KSTL). Worked like a charm. Go figure. Now, I need to find out if it's the airport (which is an add on, BTW) or the a/c. I will try my ERJ @ KIAH which is a "stock" airport. And, I don't think that there is a flatten in the scenery. But, this wasn't an issue with RC2.2Steve
December 4, 200223 yr Steve,RCv3 does nothing to position the plane. There's something else going on. Try doing what you usually do step by step and see where this is actually happening. If it is when you start RC then we can go from there. One item of note. A lot of aircraft.cfg files are set wrong. The COG distance from ground is usually set too low and the wheels are off the ground until you leave slew mode. You can adjust that in the aircraft.cfg under &l;contact_points&r; "static_cg_height=". Try tweaking that a bit up or down until the gear is squarely on the ground in slew after pressing "a".Also, there is always a chance that some add-on airports have the scenery ref point lower or higher than the scenery itself. This can cause the polys to float and you go skittering off at 300 knots after slewing.
December 4, 200223 yr Doug,Unfortuantely, I've seen this on a regular basis. It's the most idiotic feature they added into 2K2. Slew mode worked perfectly well in 2K and they screwed it up. With add-on scenery not meshing with the mesh or underlying scenery, and not properly flattened and excluded, this is pretty common. All it takes is the aircraft's wheels being an inch off the deck and 2K2 turns on the engines and sets the speed to 250 knots.
December 4, 200223 yr Author UPDATE **** UPDATE ***** UPDATE Tried RCv3 with my ERJ145 at KIAH. No problem. RC3.0 worked flawlessly. Same with the TWA MD83 at KSTL. I tried it again at KCLE and wham -- off I went. I disabled the add-on scenery and tried it again. Same result. Off into the wild blue yonder.Seems that my Cleveland add on scenery (by Paul Roberts -- chopkins.zip @ FlightSim.com) does NOT have a flatten switch. It's never been a problem before as I've used that scenery since June. Anyway, I've at least proved that it is NOT RC3.0 so, I recind my desire for a refund :-shy (I was only trying to get your attention!!) :-shy Anyone know how to get the flatten switch installed? :-zhelp I'll get my first RC flight tomorrow night -- out of HOUSTON!!!! :-walksmile Steve
December 4, 200223 yr Commercial Member maybe you should update your subject linepeople might get the wrong impression from your initial post, and not bother to read far enought to see that it is a scenery problem;-) JD Read my blog
December 4, 200223 yr Author jd, Sorry. I tried and it won't let me. Can you edit it? Or maybe just eliminate the whole string? I should not have put that in the heading. I should have just said HELP..... Sorry, again.Steve
December 4, 200223 yr Author Learn something every day, huh?I'll continue to work on this problem with the KCLE scenery. I re-downloaded the scenery and it doesn't say anything about a flatten switch or anything. It's the only scenery current on FS2k2 with the new D terminal at Hopkins. :( BummerSteve
December 4, 200223 yr Steve Steve! You don't need to threaten, to get our attention ;). You'll come to realize what good support really is as time goes on. This is an incredible family here!
December 4, 200223 yr Steve,I vaguely remember in the FS forum about Cleveland. Let me look into it. I'll DL the file with that file you listed and also try without it and see if it's one of the default airport problems 2K2 has (there are a few). It'll be a day or two.
