December 17, 200223 yr I assume this must have been discussed somewhere, but I coulnd't find the topic.Every time during take off the whole FS freezes at the "speed active" call. I tried several combinations within the task manager's priorities, but didn't yet find a workaround. Thank you very much for any help in this matter!Sam, LSZH
December 17, 200223 yr Hi Sam,The current work around is, I believe, to make sure you start Radar Contact before starting FDC.All the best,John
December 17, 200223 yr Commercial Member i don't have fdc, so i can't duplicate here. maybe other fdc users can comment on itburgess is right, rc needs to load before fdc JD Read my blog
December 17, 200223 yr Hi:You have to make sure that you start FS2K2 first (running low Priority) second , Run RCV3 (above normal Priority) third run FDC (low priority) that will run the three programes very smoothly.I had the same problem, until I changed the priority of the programs, and you run FDC at last.Hope this will help
December 17, 200223 yr Thank you very much for your replies! You're actually right. If I start RC before FDC the take off works smoothly without freezing. However, to avoid that freeze I also have to leave RC in its "normal priority" which comes to point that the voices in RC are becoming "slow" again. As soon as I change RC's priority to "abovenormal", as recommended, the voices run correctly, but again, I got the freeze at the "speed active" call.Do I really have to make a choice to either use RC or FDC? I still hope that there is someone out there with THE solution. Is there maybe a specific combination in the task manager's priorities?Any help would be so much appreciated!! Thank you very much!Sam, LSZH
December 17, 200223 yr Thanks, Yohsi!I followed your instructions very carefully, but my "speed active" freeze persists just like it did before. I started FS, went directly into the task manager and changed to low. I then started RC and changed in the manager to "abovenormal" and at last FDC were I canged to low. I did not created batches yet, but I assume this shouldn't make a difference... My OS is WinXP. Is there something I overlooked? As JD doesn't use FDC and Dave March doesn't RC neither it is getting difficult.... Sam
December 17, 200223 yr Commercial Member try not changing the priorities. does that make a difference? JD Read my blog
December 17, 200223 yr Thank you for not giving up, JD! True, leaving the priorities in their original status FS doesn't freeze, but there is actually a difference in terms of RC's speech: It is getting slow again.I thought it might be a workaround to turn off the "speed active call"in FDC, as FDC's help message it says, when putting a zero to the "IAS Active Call out" it would switch off the call. However, this doesn't seem to work. My calls simply comes at zero! ;-)Kind regards, Sam
December 18, 200223 yr Hey! No one out there using RCV3 in combination with FDC?? No workaround yet?Any help is very appreciated!!Sam
December 19, 200223 yr I use RCv3 and FDC together on the same machine, but connected to FS over the network by WideFS.Never any problem encountered... I start (and always have) RCv3 before FDC.I start FDC when the passengers are boarding, somewhere halfway my checklist.
December 19, 200223 yr Yoshi's soluction (low Priority for EVERYTHING) seems to work perfectly fine.. A week working fine for me now and with no impact on frame rates.
December 19, 200223 yr Thank you very much, Jaaky and Bojote!! I will try out!I actually didn't know, that running a network at the same machine would work. Never thought of using WideFS in one machine. A very interesting hint!Sam
December 19, 200223 yr >>that running a network at the same machine would work. Never thought of using WideFS in one machine. A very interesting hint!WOT????????
December 19, 200223 yr Well, I thought that WideFS would kind of fake a network within one machine, but that's obviously not the case.... I either have to build a proper LAN or continue to find a traditional solution with my current configuration...Thanks anyway!Sam
December 19, 200223 yr Sam:I am sorry to hear that you cannot have a smooth run by lowering the FDC task, I am using it, excactly as I mentioned , and no problem. I am experiencing some other process , and will let you know if it is better.Have a great one
