August 15, 200421 yr sorry guys, been having a real problem here. I recently update my system to a AMD3200, 1gig ram and a GF6800 128. Running vid driver 6.14.10.6177 and DirectX latest. I have the latest FSUIPC registered and the latest AdvDisplay.Bottom line; AdvDisp is just hammering this setup, frames in the single digits, flashing between FS9 panel views, ect. Also, using any panel that opens separate views, when moving that sub view I get the following (yes that is a screen shot, not a photoshop compilation)http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/88025.jpgrunning without AdvDisp, it runs smooth as silk, well into the mid 30's FPS. As you can see, unless I can run RC3 without this little doohicky, I have to say 'bye' to RC. I have run every mode and option setting under the advanced tab on the properties for this card over the past several weeks, this will be the last weekend I spend on it.Any help is appreciated. BTW, would Pete help with this or is that module an 'as is' type of thing?? August 15, 200421 yr Moderator Mike,Have you tried docking the AdvDisp window? It was designed to be used that way. In fact Pete has put a message in the title bar to that effect.Although I don't use AdvDisp myself I'm sure a lot of people who have the PMDG737 do so I suspect yours is a driver issue. If you want to discuss this with Pete you can reach him here ...http://forums.simflight.com/viewforum.php?...c80db87acae1b56Cheers, Ray (Cheshire, England). August 15, 200421 yr Author yes I have, both docked and undocked and both fast and slow scroll. I dont think any of the other options would have any effect. May I ask, if you dont use AdvDisp, what do you use? I thought it was required??by the way Ray, I see you over on his forum now, I dont know how to post images there, maybe I can point him over here, will try to figure out how. thanks CPU: Core i5-6600K 4 core (3.5GHz) - overclock to 4.3 | RAM: (1066 MHz) 16GB MOBO: ASUS Z170 Pro | GeForce GTX 1070 8GB | MONITOR: 2560 X 1440 2K
August 15, 200421 yr Commercial Member was everything working fine, and then it's not? if so, that tells me something has changed on your machine, that is affecting the way all this works together.could this be the render to texture problem others have reported? try flipping that off to on, or on to off.if rc, advdisp, and fsuipc haven't changed, and now they are behaving differently, i'd look to see what else has changed.does this happen with a ms plane with a ms panel?jd JD Read my blog
August 15, 200421 yr Moderator Mike,I have two PCs and I use ShowText on the second (non-flying) PC to show the RC info. It's a separate executable that has the same look and feel as AdvDisp but by using WideFS it can run on a separate PC.I see JD has asked if it happens with default FS2004 planes/panels. If it does then it's not related to the PMDG panel but if it only happens with that panel then you might ask the question on the PMDG group. You mention you upgraded your system. Did you reinstall FS2004?Cheers, Ray (Cheshire, England). August 16, 200421 yr I found that if I dock ADvDSp on something on the panel that I don"t need to look at much, such as the clock then I can leave itoff until I look at the clock or want to see the ADVDSP. Thatmight help but it works for me on my PMDG. To make this work, openthe clock and then ADVDSP and move ADVDSP so it covers a part of theclock and lock it there. When you make the clock dissappear ADVDSPwill also dissappear. After that you can move the ADVDSP to say the center post and it will still be activated by the clock. Hope thishelps.
August 16, 200421 yr How about using an assigned hot key (I use CTRL-X) to hide the advdisp window? See FSUIPC docs on modifying FSUIPC.INI to accomplish this.As an example, I dock it usually off the panel in the upper left of the windshield. When I need a wide view for taxying and there are many ground objects around, I hide it until I'm at the hold short point and need to contact tower.
August 16, 200421 yr Moderator Mike,Please see the attached image. This shows AdvDisp on the PMDG737 panel and although it's a bit small the frame rate of 15.5 is visible. This compares to around 20 with a full-screen forward view (no panel).I think your problem lies with the drivers for that graphics card which is very new. For the record I'm running a ATI Radeon 9800 Pro 128Mb card with Omega 2.5.58 drivers.Rest assured RC will run fine with that panel and AdvDisp once you have suitable drivers.Cheers,http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/88123.jpg Ray (Cheshire, England). August 16, 200421 yr Ir's right there on the HotKey tab in FSUIPC. One doesn't need to manually edit the ini.

August 17, 200421 yr Author well, after two days of reinstalling, driver reloads, configuring and tweaking (including generating a new FS9.cfg file) I have come to the conclusion...it ain't gonna work on my new system. :-(Just to recap a bit, I will use the three terms; windowed mode (multiple window on the desktop), full screen mode (1 window max to fit the screen) and 3D mode (alt enter key, no window frame)so...When I am in any window mode, moving any sub panel (i.e. throttle), the system will bog down and display what you saw in my original post. Bog down means that when I, for example move the CDU over 1 inch, my display will stutter, FPS go to 4-5 and it will complete the move in about 35 second (really, the full drag over 1 inch is a half a minute). This is also true with the AdvDisp window (docked or not) and also true in any plane/panel including defaults. Now, in 3D mode. I can move any subpanel (again, i.e. throttle, cdu, ect) and it is very very smooth, FPS have no loss and I maintain about 30-35 (locked at 35). However, with AdvDisp running (either docked or undocked) in 3D mode, I will again suffer what I described above. This slow down occurs with moving either AdvDisp OR any of the panel sub-panels.Is this a FS9, AdvDisp or RC3 problem?NOIs this an issue with my setup? You betchaWhat have I done?per a great suggestion above I just dock the AdvDisp to the least used sub-panel and try to never open it. Yes, it is a shortcut but I have come to realize that my current setup just is not happy without doing that. Thanks for all who have suggested and responded, you have been a great help with your suggestions and it is appreciated. August 18, 200421 yr Moderator Mike,What you describe is definitely a graphics driver problem. I suggest you visit the Omega site here www.omegadrivers.net/ , choose the nVidia option and read the notice about the 6800 card. Clearly you can't currently use the current Omega drivers but once compatible drivers are available I recommend you try them as I think they will resolve your problems.Your setup is fine - all that is needed is a change of drivers. It does take time for drivers to settle down with new graphics cards but rest assured that once they're released the Omega drivers will give you excellent performance.Cheers, Ray (Cheshire, England). August 19, 200421 yr Author thanks, I will keep an eye out for the release.I did install and try the last three WHQL drivers for NVidia from the 3DGuru site, but I had the same problems with all three drivers.Maybe, Omega will come thru, we'll see.thanks again.
