December 19, 200520 yr Hey guys, first off I would like to say I love the product!I know there is a post below this one about fps drop with FDC, but I do not use FDC, and this seems unrelated. So I have completed two flights with RC4 and the real thing I noticed is that my system seems to be a bit sluggish. At first I thought this was just the amount of traffic on the ground, but then the problem continued into departure and cruise.I usually get 10-12 fps on the ground with around 70% traffic and ultimate traffic running. sometimes lower. When in the air it can run up to 30-40 and will stay about 20 unless something crazy happens. With RC4 module open (atc window open) my fps were crazy low primarly while cruising. They were around 10 fps (just like I am on the ground with near full traffic). I decided to close the module and my fps went up.... hmmm. I tried docking it, locking it, colors and nothing really helped like closing it.When I did close it a green menu came up with garbled text, but the fps were still up tp about normal. My system is okAMD barton @ 2.2ghz6600gt 128meg1 gig ram.23 proccess @ startup..My system was just reformated with a fresh instal of fs2004, utraffic, rc2004, various freeware planes and pmdg aircraft. These paticular flights are with pmdg aircraft (737 ng)Below are pics of my problems/questions(fps drop with module open)http://x11.putfile.com/12/35211331984.jpg(fps up with module closed and green garbled menu open?)http://x11.putfile.com/12/35211324465.jpgthanks in advance, dan h.
December 19, 200520 yr Commercial Member i put my advdisp on a different monitor. that may not be possible. the second best choice is to dock it to a panel, not let it ride in a windowalso make sure you have the latest video drivers installeddj JD Read my blog
December 19, 200520 yr Author when you say you put it in a different monitor, is that because it does in fact slow the sim down? And when you say dock it to a panel, that means it keep it to one window, so various views dont have it, only the one which it is docked.thanks for the response, dan h
December 19, 200520 yr Commercial Member i don't have performance problems. i just like the display on a different monitor. aestheticsbut i also will dock the display to a panel, and then you don't have that window box around it.described in the quick start guidejd JD Read my blog
December 19, 200520 yr What about docking it to the VC panel. I've done that and like what's been reported here I've seen performance issues... FS2020 Alienware Aurora R11 10th Gen Intel Core i7 10700F - Windows 11 Home 32GB Ram NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 Ti Super OC 16GB - Pimax Crystal Light VR
December 20, 200520 yr Moderator Dan,If you overlay a 2D window (the AdvDisp window) on a 3D background (the outside view) it will always have a big impact on frame rates. Ideally dock AdvDisp to a non-critical part of your 2D panel, right-click it and select 'Hide when empty'. I'm pretty sure that's the wording. It won't be visible in spot plane mode but that's normal. Just like your instruments aren't visible in that mode.To answer Dillon's question I haven't tried docking it on a VC panel as I don't use them. Experimentation is the best thing. I'm pretty certain Pete Dowson only intended it's use on a 2D panel. To remove that green window with the garbled text right-click it and choose Close. It shouldn't reappear.Cheers, Ray (Cheshire, England).
