January 6, 200620 yr Moderator Hi guys - Thoroughly enjoying your product. have a question though because of a flight I just finished. Altho I have a commercial ticket with an IFR rating, it's been years since I've done any real world flying ( medical issue). In FS9 - I was about the outer marker on the ILS at SFO in a 727 when the AP went ballistic - a/c started porpoising all over the place. I went missed and while trying to follow the vectors from RC4 and get the a/c under control, I not only busted alt restrictions several times, I obliterated them. Finally got a/c under control and made a manual ILS approach with success. Needless to say, I heard from RC4 AND the FAA.In all that, I was too busy to declare an emergency, ( hate the pause button). So, what would the procedure be IRL?Personally, after flying like that, I might have hidden in the luggage compartment until everyone had gone .Thanx for a super product!VicVisit the Virtual Pilot's Centerwww.flightadventures.comhttp://sales.hifisim.com/pub-download/asv6-banner-proud.jpghttp://www.jdtllc.com/images/rcv4bannersupporter.jpg RIG#1 - I9 14900K MSI Pro z790 RTX 5070Ti 40" 4K Monitor 3840x2160
January 7, 200620 yr A response from a r/w controller or pilot would be the ideal answer, but I would think even if the AP failed, it would only be a matter of disconnecting and hand flying the missed approach procedure by hand. Is it even a emergency situation as to warrent Pan or Mayday? - I wouldn't guess so... If you've had time to declare a missed app, you would have had time to disconnect the AP first?Eitherway, I would think just because aircraft on final declares a MA, it would still be expected to maintain vectors/alts given by ATC.On the other hand, if you did bust your vectors/alts given by ATC, but it was for good reason, you can always explain that to FSDO/FAA. That's what they're for - to investigate what happened up there ;o)Sorry, I know you would have prefered an answer from someone 'in the know' so I'm just guessing here.Subs

January 7, 200620 yr Author Moderator >>Me too. Marriage! Actually that's more financial-ruin than>medical I guess :-)>Well, "tetched in the head" is medical, no? :)I understand the PIC is just that in that type of situation. I did release the AP and I wasn't over controlling so I don't really know what caused the rapid alt variations. I've been in some rough wake turbulence IRL but in small GA. Wouldn't think it would be that severe in a 727. Well, main thing is that I got it back under control and landed safely. I use ASV6 for real weather and it does model wake turbulence.I guess IRL, I would have had some explaining to do but probably would have that covered.Thanx,VicVisit the Virtual Pilot's Centerwww.flightadventures.comhttp://sales.hifisim.com/pub-download/asv6-banner-proud.jpghttp://www.jdtllc.com/images/rcv4bannersupporter.jpg RIG#1 - I9 14900K MSI Pro z790 RTX 5070Ti 40" 4K Monitor 3840x2160

Disconnected first thing - kept getting rapid fluctuations, I'm talking 800 - 1000 foot oscillations.>On the other hand, if you did bust your vectors/alts given by>ATC, but it was for good reason, you can always explain that>to FSDO/FAA. I'm sure there would be a lot of explaining to do but feel comfortable that I did everything possible.>>Sorry, I know you would have prefered an answer from someone>'in the know' so I'm just guessing here.Hey Subs, sometimes an educated guess is the best way to go. :)Thanx,VicVisit the Virtual Pilot's Centerwww.flightadventures.comhttp://sales.hifisim.com/pub-download/asv6-banner-proud.jpghttp://www.jdtllc.com/images/rcv4bannersupporter.jpg RIG#1 - I9 14900K MSI Pro z790 RTX 5070Ti 40" 4K Monitor 3840x2160

This might sound dumb, but are you sure you had proper flaps for the speed? I've had issues where I forgot to lower flaps a few times and as the speed drops the plane gets pretty squirly.
