January 16, 200719 yr Oh ma gawd! On approach to KIAD from LOWW, I was vectored to 19L, everything cool. As I'm about to touchdown I see a 757 barreling down the runway towards me. He slid over the top of me and we just missed! On landing, I'm seeing AI's are now directed for northbound t/o. Meanwhile, there is a United 747 landing on 12. Were they in the process of changing the airport around? The winds were 202 @ 6 which would tell me SOUTHBOUND landing. Any ideas?
January 16, 200719 yr Commercial Member i don't control the ai, they have a mind of their own. i check what they are doing 70 miles out, 40 miles out, and about 12 miles out. if i see them using a different runway than the one you were assigned, i change your runway assignment. i think what happened was a fluke. i'm happy it doesn't happen in real life.jd JD Read my blog
January 16, 200719 yr Similar happened to me, today. at AlicanteAssigned Rwy10, entered runway and B737 on approach at opposite end.Gerry
January 17, 200719 yr What are your RC and FSUIPC versions. Also, do you have Interact With AI enabled in RC?
January 19, 200719 yr This is often a problem with AS6, or any downloaded weather, one way I have found that gets around it 95% of the time is this:You run your weather program and let it complete writing and setting the weather, once this is done then use the world/time and season setting to change the time by an hour, select OK, now, if you want another time, go back and set it to the time you want, otherwise you can leave it as it is, you will find that the FS9 ATC will pretty much be assigning rwys according to the wind direction currently prevailing and as such you can make a reasonable guess as to which rwy will be the active at a given airport as long as you can get a metar for it, with AS6 I use the fetch function or the planning part of Active Radar.
January 19, 200719 yr With AS6 after weather writes are completed I use the AS6 button to refresh the ai (your FS flight should be loaded). This causes a catch-up of FS ai (and atis) to the current weather as completed by AS 6. There is an option in AS 6.5 to do this automatically at the end of weather writes but I have not noticed it all the time so I do it with that option.I then set up the aircraft controls and instruments, load and set up RC, start it, and return to FS.There was an earlier interim version opf FSUIPC that incorrectly identified ai in the approach and arrival phases to RC. It is important to have version 3.71 (or later)of FSUIPC (FS9) andthe current 4.2 or 4.3 build of RC. Again make sure the Interact with AI option is enabled in RC.
January 20, 200719 yr Never tried the AS refresh AI option before, in fact I didn't realise it's function, good point Ron, I have now set mine to auto refresh, be interesting to see how it holds up.
