But can't I change background, font and window size with AvDisp?Isn't the window in ShowText transparent - if so it would be tricky to read over the other stuff I have running.I'm interested to know why you prefer ShowText and why you think it the "better solution".Obviously I'll give your idea a try but I'd be gratefull if you could tell me how to get AvDisp on the networked pc (the .dll is already in the Modules folder.)

<Possibly but you wouldn't be able to move it to a separate screen. ShowText doesn't have a transparent window but that isn't really required as it will just occupy a small area of another monitor. You can change the font, font size, background colour and font colour on ShowText.I prefer not to use the transparent FSUIPC window as I like to see the RC info all the time and want the full forward view to be as uncluttered as possible. I don't have any panel showing as I use the Project Magenta Boeing suite which gives me a glass cockpit on other monitors.<>You can't move AdvDisp to another PC. Run ShowText once you have widefs running and it displays whatever appears in AdvDisp or FSUIPC's transparent window. If you prefer that method you can delete advdisp.dll from modules.Cheers,

Okay Ray, I'm convinced.But - I had a look at the Message Window Options page in the FSUIPC guide, and although I sort of understand, there is nothing there that tells me how to do it.Could you explain to me what the settings are and what I should put where, 'cos I can't see how to start ShowText on the networked machine.Thanks.

Sorry, my mistake. You need to download AdvDisp from here http://www.schiratti.com/files/dowson/AdvDisp.zipInside it is another zip containing ShowText. Unzip the contents to a folder named ShowText on the networked PC and that's it. Start FS, start WideFS and before starting RC4 start ShowText. The transparent FSUIPC window still appears but you can assign a button in FSUIPC to toggle it on/off.The same info will be displayed in ShowText. Just size and choose the colours you want.:-beerchug

Thanks very much Ray.Up and running and doing the job just fine.I have removed AvDisp from the main pc but (why does there always have to be a 'but'?) I've now got that Radar Contact green band across the main screen (which wasn't there before) and I can't figure out how to remove it.

Excellent! That green band is integral in FS and cannot be prevented from opening. However, it only appears briefly on my system when FS Flight Keeper starts and FS Real Time detects a new time zone.It doesn't show any RC data. Is it showing RC info? If so go into FSUIPC and on the initial screen make sure multiline is checked. That's from memory - hope I got it right.Cheers.

Just browsing for comments on running Rc4 on a networked PC. I'm just trying to set this up and have the network side working OK. Have WideFS installed in its own folder within FSX and listed as a shared folder in Network places. Also the path to flight plans works ok. I have FSX running on the main PC but when I open up Rc4 on the client, load the flight plan and click Start I get the message "Cannot link to FSUIPC or WideClient" Just wondering if you could offer me any help here please. Thanks in anticipation Don S
