June 10, 200718 yr Moderator Hi Don,What version of FSUIPC are you running? Latest is 4.411 available here http://www.schiratti.com/dowson.htmlYou might want to check you're also running the latest version of WideClient / WideServer too also available on that link.Cheers, Ray (Cheshire, England). June 11, 200718 yr Hi Ray, Yes, checked all versions out as requested - am running FSUIPC 4.411 and the latest versions of WideClient (6.7.5.0). WideServer7 is now built into FSUIPC. Tried again but still getting the same message:-(. It is something to with the client because I have a copy of Rc4 on the main PC and when I turn it on Rc4 works normally.Regards Don S

June 12, 200718 yr Sorry JD but I'm not computer savvy enough to understand how to do these actions. Would appreciate some more details please. Tks regards Don S :-doh
December 30, 200817 yr Author UPDATE from my original post 6 months ago:Since then I have reinstalled my OS and FS9, and I am stuck with that darned green band across my screen again, and nothing will shift it.It took a while to find my post - was it here? was it at P.Dowsons forum? - and without a doubt the thing is showing RC info - the same as on my networked pc where RC is installed. I can rightclick and close the window, but it comes back after a while.Checking "FSUIPC multiline display window" and unchecking "hide all single line messages" - the solution to the problem the first time around - is having no effect: all I get is the FSUIPC window, which keeps popping up even when I close it.This is very strange because I managed to get rid of it before.
January 12, 201016 yr Author An update - a little over a year later.I got rid of that damned green band but I dint note down how I did it.Now, following an OS and FS reinstall I have got the damned thing back again.FSUIPC: SuppressMultilineFS=Yes + ShowMultilineWindow=No + SuppressSingleline=Yes.So please - forgive my laziness in not noting down how I removed the green band before - and tell me how to do it again.
January 12, 201016 yr Commercial Member So please - forgive my laziness in not noting down how I removed the green band before - and tell me how to do it again. Is the FSUIPC documentation on this so confusing? Tell me why and I'll try to improve it on the next main release. Sadly you've missed the most recent one, 3.96/4.57 this last weekend.Show Multiline Window should be ON if you want RC's window on the FS screen, OFF if you are using ShowText instead (whether on the same or a WideFS networked PC). This is really the only one related to RC's menus and operates the window which replaces the old defunct AdvDisplay module.Suppress Single line is only related to single line messages, not just from RC, some quite important, and should normally be left enabled. Here you get things like notifications from Active Sky and Project Magenta and other programs saying they are connected, ready, whatever. Programs which use this for trivial things which you'd like suppressed are usually better disabled using their own options.Suppress Multiline FS is normally suppresed for use with RC, but I don't think it affects its displays.I use ShowText on a networked PC and have the INI options set thus:ShowMultilineWindow=NoSuppressSingleline=NoSuppressMultilineFS=YesI get single lines on the FS screen (your "green band") for PM's MCP connecting, for ActiveSky notifying me that the weather is aboyut to be set for the first time, and that's about it.RegardsPete Win10: 22H2 19045.2728 CPU: 9900KS at 5.5GHz Memory: 32Gb at 3800 MHz. January 13, 201016 yr Author " Is the FSUIPC documentation on this so confusing? "On this subject specifically - perhaps not, although it confused me, but in genereal.......yes Peter, it is. Quite frankly a lot of your documentation is confusing - and I suggest a simple reason why so. You are obviously a "brilliant" man and you know that the FS community is indebted to your indispensable contibutions over the years, but - and the but is big - probably most of us are not as brilliant as you and some of us - me included - have dificulty with technical (and sometimes abstract) lines of thought or procedure. Added to that your propensity to write your documentation as if we were all as smart as you - and have understood everything that we have read so far........Obviously none of the above is a criticism - au contraire - and I hope you will not take it so.To return to the subject.I want on my FS screen: no text messages at all, neither permanent nor popping up. on my client screen: RC text displayed.I had installed: AdvDisp on my Server and ShowText on my ClientI read your phrase "....... the old defunct AdvDisplay module........." and a dim flickering light appeared in my brain - and I removed AdvDisp from my FS modules folder and I no longer have that "green band" on my FS screen.FSUIPC multiline is unchecked, Surpress multiline in FS and Hide all single line messages are uchecked.Whether I should have been confused, whether I should have thought it neccessary to install both AdvDisp and ShowText is not for me to say. Thank you both for your replies. With respect,Nicholas
January 13, 201016 yr Commercial Member Added to that your propensity to write your documentation as if we were all as smart as you - and have understood everything that we have read so far........I really try to write normal English, with as much information as possible, including pictures and examples in many cases, to help. I do not use computer-type technical terms, but sometimes do use aviation terms, especially when talking about facilities relating to aviation technical issues. I have always taken note of constructive feedback and revised sections of documents accordingly, and provided more examples when suggested or requested. But unfortunately most of the "feedback" I get when I ask is merely destructive, not constructive. Just saying it is "all too complicated, I understand nothing" is absolutely no help whatsoever, and such comments are therefore only hurtful not useful.I do assume some level of competence. About the same as that Microsoft assumes in its "help" and documentation for FS. I have to assume that someone who is into aircraft, and into them so much they are getting into technical details with FSUIPC facilities and detailed ATC, is actually fairly intelligent. Without some baseline to start with there would be no way I'd even begin to document FSUIPC. In fact I probably would never have released it for other users at all, just developed it for my own use (my original intention 12 years ago).Obviously none of the above is a criticism - au contraire - and I hope you will not take it so.I'm afraid is certainly it, as there's nothing helpful or constructive or useful about it.Please don't continue this discussion. At least certainly not here. If you have anything constructive to say, please come to my Support Forum.Pete Win10: 22H2 19045.2728 CPU: 9900KS at 5.5GHz Memory: 32Gb at 3800 MHz.
