Radar Contact Voice Failure

Featured Replies

Hi jd,After weeks of problem free behaviour with Radar Contact my last two flights have led to menu locks and no voices.Flight 1 was almost complete(LEMD-EGKK} using PMDNG737 when I noticed after hand off to approach I received initial clearance to descend then nothing more although FS9was still running on.Despite my trying to provoke a response nothing came back .I terminated RC4.3 and was told of some sort of FSCUIPC failure ending with Run Time error 6.Todays flight started as normal clearance to climb to 15000ft was ok and then silence (EGLL-LIRF) I was over France and still no further advice.I terminated RC ,and received an error message quoting winwood error .My o/s is Vista running as administrator at all times.Do you have any ideas or would you suggest a full RC reinstall.RegardsNorman Bowman

Aerosoft has announced version 1.10 for London-Heathrow. It fixes a number of serious items. This requires a complete redownload from "your account" at Aerosoft. The announcement is in the news section here:http://www.aerosoft.com/cgi-local/us/iboshop.cgi?show270which you'll have to scroll down to see.Since both of your problems occurred in the London area, I suspect the Heathrow scenery code has some malfunction regarding memory issues. Scenery problems using WinXP sometimes cause an FS crash or other weird issues. The scope of scenery read around your aircraft might be a couple of hundred miles so Heathrow could cause problems with Gatwick. For a complete fix release like this so soon I suspect it was a rather urgent matter that needed to be corrected. If you have registered the Heathrow product at Aerosoft you can go to their FAQ/Support page and read about and get the download.I am a fan of Aerosoft published scenery including the Simwings authored products and have several volumes. I do not recall if Simwings or Fly-Tampa did Heathrow for them.

Hi Ron and jd,Aspromised I have flown again one of the flights causing the voice problem this time no problems at all. What did I adjust?Well, Ron,I was already using London Heathrow version 1.10 but I have noticed in the past when loading detailed scenery that I usually reinstall Radar Contact after installing the scenery package.I did not do that on this occasion. So that to sort things out I reinstalled Radar Contact Flew my test flight EGPD-EGLL and then flew EGLL-LIRF both without fault.I also stopped using the italian recorded pilot voice and controllers voices as they both sound as though they are in excruciating pain !!Any way problem is solved jd by ensuring that Radar Contact is the last program loaded. This tip may be of use to others who experience assorted problems.RegardsNorman Bowman

>Hi Ron and jd,>>>I usually reinstall Radar Contact after installing the scenery>package.I did not do that on this occasion. So that to sort>things out I reinstalled Radar Contact Flew my test flight>EGPD-EGLL and then flew EGLL-LIRF both without fault. You should not require a reinstall after you put in the FS scenery library new scenery or AFCADs. Remember to start FS so it reindexes its scenery .cfg, the close it, start RC, and run the Rebuild Scenery DB utility so RC updates its database. Also worth noting is to check your version of FSUIPC and makerwys.exe after an RC reinstall. The link to the latest versions of FSUIPC and makerwys.exe (part of the scenery rebuild process) is given near the top of this forum. >>I also stopped using the italian recorded pilot voice and>controllers voices as they both sound as though they are in>excruciating pain !!They are from the detailed lengthy script recording process :)>>Any way problem is solved jd by ensuring that Radar Contact is>the last program loaded. This tip may be of use to others who>experience assorted problems.>>Regards>>Norman BowmanRC can be loaded and your flightplan loaded but not started before FS provided you have enough RAM so FS need not be loaded first. That will give you the opportunity to do the preflight RC things before FS is started so you are not tromped on by the FS AI crunch on loading a flight.I can load RC, then AS6.5 (my weather application), then FS and load the flight, and then activate the weather writes followed by its AI Refresh. I then wait a couple of minutes so AI and ATIS are responding to the weather and then hit the Start in RC.I have seen posts that state FS will dynamically take as much free RAM as it can so that by loading it after some other applications insures that those others will run with FS and it should not get into RAM virtual page swapping. I'm not sure as to the validity of this but it works for me.

Hi Ron,I should make it clear that I was referring to adding new items toFS when I talked about loading RC last, not when setting up a flight.I usually load items as you do.Thanks again for your advice.RegardsNorman Bowman

Hi all, thanks for writing this post its making me feel better. I too have had strange anomalies since installing EGLL.I am unable to fly into Heathrow in the PDMG 744 without either getting an OOM error or RC4 voices becoming corrupted and awful screeching sounds from my speakers.I have V1.1 EGLL installed and when I raised this problem on the Aerosoft forum I was told that this was a known problem with the 744 but I totally believe the problem is with the EGLL scenery not the Queen as I have never experienced these errors before.Hopefully they will issue a service pack that will solve these problems even if they are unwilling to admit that some people are still experiencing them, a little too hasty with the release date I feel.I can fly without Heathrow but not Radar Contact !Regards JohnCore2 Duo 66002048 MB DDR160GB HDDNVidia 7950 512mbCH Products Yoke & PedalsHead TrackerRC4AShttp://fs2crew.com/linepilot.jpg
