January 21, 200818 yr Hi there GuysI am thinking of buying RC4 in the next couple of days, I just wanted to ask whether there was a way to choose which runways are in use. Presently (although I use default ATC very very little), I go into the AFCAD editor and choose which ones are open for takeoff, and which for landing. For example, at Heathrow, I like to set one of the 27s for takeoff and the other for landing, depending on the time of day. Is there any way to do this in RC4? If so, does it involve rebuilding the scenery file every time? Thanks for any help you can offer.Kind regardsRudy
January 21, 200818 yr Hi Rudy,RC4 does allow you to choose your runways as per your Heathrow example.RC reads what your AI traffic is doing as a first choice, then looks at the weather conditions prevailing at the time to make its choice. On a recent flight of mine winds indicated that I would be using 9L for landing at EGLL and that is what I was given.I have flown over the past week and was given 27L for take off when in the RW it was 27R in use.I requested 27R and was given that runway. In short you can get your runways to match RW procedures without rebuilding the scenery file.RegardsNorman Norman Bowman
January 21, 200818 yr If you change an AFCAD or scenery for whatever reason you need to rebuild your scenery file. If you are trying to force AI into using different runways AFCAD mods are necessary. For FS9 both ends of a runway require the same properties regarding take-offs and landings. For selecting runways in RC which only affects your aircraft you can set runways in the airport screen preflight or you can select a runway when contacted by ground or approach. I always see what runway ground or approach recommend so I know what active AI are doing then change if I think it is best. This most often occurs where near parallel runways are both active and it makes sense if the terminal is in between and to get a more practical route between the runway and gate.
