Lockups with Eaglesoft CJ1

Featured Replies

The Eaglesoft CJ1 works great in FSX until I try to use Radar Contact 4. RC4 comes up and seems to work ok, but when I select any icon on the 2d panel, I get a lockup. I can run RC4 with the default aircraft without any problems.I'm starting with the default Cessna 172 with the 2d panel. I always cycle through the views in the proper order. The CJ1 is the only payware aircraft I have on FSX and all the scenery is default. The only changes to the .cfg file are for the controls - CH Throttle Quad, pedals, and yoke.I must be getting a conflict between RC4 and the CJ1 - any suggestions on how to figure this out?I am running FSX with SP1. I have also posted this on the Eaglesoft Support forumDale

If clicking a panel icon sends out the equivalent keystrokes and those keystrokes conflict with RC's default assignments, then you you need to go into RC's key assignment page and change them. For RC to resppond to to your keystrokes, your main panel, not a partial screen sub panel, must have focus. I was not sure from your post whether you mean FS locks up or RC locks up.

Usually the entire PC locks up and I have to reboot so it's hard to say which program is hung. Note: the computer is not overclocked, all temps are good, and it has been very stable - no other lockups except with the CJ1, FSX, and RC4 combination.Last night, I managed to get a flight started and RC4 and the CJ1 seemed to be working (Not sure what I did that was different) All was well as I taxied out, but then I realized that I had forgotten to reduce the fuel load, so I adjusted it using FSX. At this point I got an error code from RC4 (error 76) and it stopped running. FSX continued to run. I was recording a log file at the time.I'll try a few more flights today and try your suggestion of reassigning some of the RC4 keys.Dale

send me the .log file, pleaseerror 76 usually means you haven't defined the .flt/.wx path. click the .flt/.wx button, and navigate to where fs stores the .flt/.wx files, ususally "my documentsflight simulator x files"jd

Well, I finally got an FSX flight to work with the Eaglesoft CJ1 and RC4. It seems, at least on my system, that the order of setting up the flight makes a difference. Here's what worked for me:Start FSX, load default aircraft w/2d panelSelect and load a flight plan in FSXLoad aircraft (Eaglesoft CJ1) w/2d panelCycle through viewsComplete seetings on the sub panelsChange to window modeStart RC4, select flight planReturn to full screen modeAfter doing this, I was able to switch views, load sub panels, switch to VC, etc, and completed a one hour flight with good frame rates and no noticeable stutters.Dale

just curious, what service pack are you on, for fsx?what version of fsuipc? (don't say latest, it changes rapidly)what version of rcv4?jd

Hi JD,On FSX, I'm using FSX w/sp1 on win XP (I'm going to try SP2, just haven't gotten to it yet)FSUIPC: ver 4.20 (Not registered)RC4: ver 4.3.3845I did another successful flight today with the ES CJ1/FSX/RC4, using the above setting sequence. I do need to change the keyboard assignments for communications, but I'm convinced this has not been the cause of lockups. I had a great flight, love RC4, but I miss FSNAV (the FSX map is really clumsy in comparison)Dale
