  1. Hi there,Knowing MS Devs are active here, I hope y'all don't mind me making request on behalf of myself as a licensed deaf pilot, as well as all other deaf users. While the missions were captioned wonderfully in FSX, the flight lessons have never been captioned. Could you please look into getting all the lessons and any other parts involving speech captioned?Thank you :)
  2. So like I said in the title, in there a way to hide the default aircraft from the selection menu while still keeping them active for the missions? I never pick the default aircraft for my flights but I do the missions sometimes. I know how to comment out aircraft, remove them from the aircraft folder, etc... but I still want them to work for the missions. Thanks for any help!Todd
  3. I am actually perfectly happy with the 196. :)
  4. Wow... never heard of that, frankly! I personally would never teach landing by the instruments - especially not the VSI. The only instrument you should be concerned with during landing is your airspeed... nothing else.
  5. Does anyone here know if the Garmin 196 contains any ILS frequencies? I have been flying with my new 196 and have not been able to find any ILS info. Thanks for any help on this.
  6. I have been out of the game for a long time now... now that I am back into it, I need some help getting TP working again.I had it working perfectly in Windows Vista, but now that I am on Windows 7, things don't seem to be working.I am able to get TP running okay, then I start FSX... it seems to be working for a few moments but then FSX freezes. It only freezes with TP running. Anyone know how to solve this issue?
  7. When working as a fueler at Denver Int' I have seen a C182 operate there a couple of times.
  8. Have the Screenshot and Hangar Chat forums been removed?
  9. Well that's not good... haha. I saw mentions of having a "type" of exclude but I don't understand it because I am using ADE, and there is just one Exclude button with options of what to exclude (I selected everything). The original airport still shows up though, so I don't know why the exclude is not working. I just now thought of this - does it matter what "layer" the exclude is on when building the scenery in ADE? I.e. does it need to be below all of my scenery for it to work?
  10. Thought I'd mess around with ADE because my home airport, Boulder (KBDU) was severely misaligned with TileProxy and it also had an outdated identifier code. Not too bad for a first time try! Not only is the alignment correct now, but the taxiways are much more accurate, and the parking is much more accurate as well. I also modifed several of the buildings to match the real airports'. The big white building in the middle is part of the scenery, and I haven't figured out how to remove/edit it yet. P.S., does anyone know how to solve the bug where buildings completely disappear from certain viewing angles? Thats why I couldnt get any closer in the screenshots - the buildings just disappear!DefaultModified
  11. Does deleting a single default BGL remove only one airport or does it remove more than that? I have been trying to remove a default airport, and my excludes don't seem to work so I resorted to removing the BGL linked with that airport, but I want to make sure I didn't remove anything else. Thanks!(Replacing the default airport with a reworked version of my own, including a new identifier code - cannot get the original one to disappear unless I remove the original BGL)
  12. Thanks guys... sounds like its about time to get one of those Raptors!
  13. That setting has always been on Never. Problem is that I haven't had this problem in the past - it's just now starting to do this. And the hard drive doesn't show up at all, not even right after starting up the computer.
  14. Hey guys - just had a question for those of you who are familiar with the symptoms of hard drive failures.I have a hard drive that keeps "disappearing" from my computer (i.e. not showing up in My Computer, etc). I also am experiencing some very long pauses that were not happening before. I have three drives - my main drive, which Windows Vista is on, along with most of my regular programs, a storage drive where I keep all my videos and software stuff, and a drive dedicated to game installations. The game hard drive is the one that is disappearing. Does that probably mean that it is failing/no good? Thanks for your help!Todd
  15. Thanks guys Camera was my fiancee's pink Sony Cybershot haha... and I used Photoshop just to resize, sharpen, and some of them got lighting/color correction."Work" is an aircraft fueler at Denver for Great Lakes.
  16. I agree that Chuck's response was completely inappropriate... very uncalled for.And by the way, I meant Father Bill, not Father Chuck haha sorry about that.
  17. :(Thats great, Father Chuck :)Actually I did figure out what it was and, as mentioned above, it actually was exactly that, the Anti-Lock. But it wasnt from FSX... it was actually a feature of FSPassengersX. I turned it off and now it's gone. However though, it can be turned down for those who have rudder pedal braking and would like to hear it so they can tell if they are locking up or not.
  18. Oh I see... that makes sense. I have noticed that any brake use in FSX basically results in locked wheels, so again, that really does make sense.
  19. I was messing around with some of the default airliners, and I realized that most, if not all, have this annoying "groaning" sound when I apply brakes. Anyone know what this is supposed to be?
  20. Well, we have clarified that the Carenado model is definitely not turbo'ed, and the performance it puts out certainly says it is not as well. Matches quite well with the 180HP real-life Arrow. That aside, I have to laugh at that 170kt/20,000' figure... I doubt any Arrow out there has ever seen that kind of performance, even with custom mods. And as for "they don't come much nicer than the Arrow"? Um... yeah they do... sure it's a matter of taste but I feel pretty safe saying that, in their words, "when it comes to light aircraft", they DO come much nicer and better performing. For the same cost? Yep even for the same cost. Like I said, it's all a matter of what you personally want in an aircraft.
  21. I flew the older Arrow with the standard tail, and I have to agree - it does look plain. Basically the only real obvious difference is the stance, the obvious retracts, and the prop. Didn't help that the one I flew was an ugly orange on white scheme... However, like you said, I have seen some Arrows that look jaw-droppingly spectacular in custom paint schemes. My favorite one has to be a dark blue on silver scheme. It was a silvery color with a wavy dark blue strip on the sides. Looked almost like a PC-12 paint job if you get my idea.
  22. I have some time in the Arrow and just wanted to give my input (although not near as much as Geofa). The Arrow does feel, in the sim. pretty close to how the real life Arrow does. It is a relatively heavy aircraft relative to it's power, so it is not quick by any means. It is basically a Cherokee PA-28-180 with a LOT more fuel and the added weight of gear retracts, as well as the constant speed prop equipment. So, yes, it is underpowered.Another note I'd like to make is that flying the Arrow at anything outside of enroute legs (enroute climb, descent, and cruise) requires more muscle than you would normally find in other aircraft of this class - she flies very nose-heavy/nose-high when in the pattern and when in landing/take-off phases. Often times I will actually have the trim maxed out on nose-up, and I still require hefty back pressure on the yoke during landing (Trim is the first thing I do when touching down or going around... apply power, immediately nose-down trim to cancel out the pitch-up, gear up, etc)Once you are at your cruise altitude and at speed, the Arrow is pleasant enough to fly.As was mentioned above, there are not a lot of people who truly love the Arrow for what it is, but it is not a bad aircraft either. Just needed 200 horses, not 180.Also, as for cruise speed - my Arrow was an older model, but just as was said above as well, don't expect high speeds. It has been a while but if my memory serves me right, my last flight was at 12,500 and I got 125 IAS at standard cruise settings (about 55-60 degrees OAT).
  23. Can anyone tell me how to adjust the strobe light flash speeds? Almost all of my aircraft flash their strobes way too fast. Can I also modify the type of strobe pattern? (i.e. flashflash-flash... pause... flashflash-flash... instead of a steady flash-flash-flash-flash)Also, I'm having an issue with all airport buildings disappearing from certain view angles. It looks like anytime I am looking at anywhere near a downward angle, from cockpit or spot or otherwise, all the airport buildings disappear. Anybody else have/had this problem? Thanks!
