  1. Thanks Brew. I too am not pleased with the fact that posts were removed from the Wilco forum here at AVSIM. If no one broke the forum rules then they should be heard. You are so right, a satisfied customer base will yield many dividends in the future. We all live in the same fish bowl and should learn how to swim together.Regards,
  2. Serge, I took your challenge and purchased the A320. My unbiased evaluation follows in hopes of providing useful information for others in this fine flight sim community. Special thanks to AVSIM for letting me post it.Originally I posted my displeasure of Wilco putting out yet another botched product without having actually used the product. Serge graciously pointed this out to me and I think I apologized and to make things right I went out and purchased it. Here goes:Product = Wilco Publishing A320 PICMy sepcs = Intel 1.6GHz P4 w/768mb RAM/Intel MB; Geforce3 Ti200 64MB/nVidia 42.86 Detonator drivers; Windows XP Pro w/SP1; FS2002 Professional freshly installed with FSUIPC 2.971/no other add-ons. Installation = very smoothNo problem here.Documentation = adequateI wish the documentation was more integrated with how the "Bus" is actually handled from start to finish. For the unfamiliar it would be nice to have better explanations with pictures at the right moment during the startup sequence.A/C Texture = goodFrame-rates are a problem when viewing from outside though. 4.0 max from outside view (although tweaking might have helped more I just didn't want to degrade my sim too much to fit Wilco's design specs).Cockpit Presentation = 3D onlyNow there are those who do not like 3D panels under any circumstances and those that only like 3D panels. No argument either way from me here. I do, however, like the fact that you can get to important views using the Ctrl key with numbers. I think this fact should have been more clearly stated from the start. I almost always want to get in the cockpit and look around before reading the manual. This may account for so many complaints about the 3D cockpits used here in general. Frame-rates were a problem for me and I think my system is up to par. No problems with other add-on A/C. I got 4.0 max fps when viewing from the outside and 10.0 max from inside the cockpit in flight. I probably could have tweaked the setting a bit more but I like my settings and they work well with other A/C. Having set low quality 3D guage settings was enough I think.Flight Controls = mixed - fair/poorHere's where I had the most difficulty. Even after reading the manual I found it unnecessarily difficult to move around the cockpit using MS's joystick settings since I had to turn them off to make the A320 work properly. I kinda like my joystick settings and have gotten so used to them it's hard to stop using them. It was nice to be able to click on just about any button or switch to operate the many systems. Flying the A320 I now have a bunch of joystick buttons that will go unused. Not good.Instruments = very good / Instrument Presentation = poorThe model seems to mimic the many instrumentation features of a real A320. I can only speak from my GA real world knowledge and the things I have learned from other add-on flight sim products such as PIC767 and Fly!II's/PMDG's 757/777 et. al. Still, the level of immersion was intense. I enjoyed going through all the many different start-up and verification sequences. The MAJOR issue with instrumentation was the lack of good visual presentation. For instance, the illuminated characters on the ADIRS were too dim and fuzzy to see. I really like playing with a good ADIRS. The other letters and illuminated LED's on the overhead panel were also hard to read. I haven't flown at night yet but in the daylight it was hard to make out the labels on switches and buttons. The panel instruments were not bad though but you have to be in just the right position to see them clearly as well. Nice to have the Ctrl+Numbers to help out some here. Of course you could click on some of the primary flight instruments to open them up in a window with clear text and illumination but that defeats the 3D immersion factor.Sound = goodThe sound was pretty good for the engine spool-up and engine run. The APU sound came and went quite a good deal while I switched from view to view. Not sure if this is a bug or just me.FMS = goodHigh marks for the FMS. It was very detailed and the view (Ctrl+4 I think) was very good. One of the best FMS units I've used in flight sims.Aircraft Model = ?I'm no A320 (or any commercial airliner) expert.Serge I can see throughout the A320 that it was a labor of love for you and the other fine members of your team. Congratulations on your success. I can also see both sides of the argument that others are vehemently trying to get accross. Sorry to say, and respectfully so, that I am not completely satisfied with the A320/PIC. The framerates and the difficulty in navigating the cockpit and the poor quality of the gauges in 3D mode are definite drawbacks. I have to admit that a good 2D panel would have made this product a lot more acceptable to the general sim-flying community. This is only my opinion. Others I'm sure would take issue with my comments. Nevertheless, I have taken your challenge and tried the A320 instead of making rash judgements out of hand. I have put my money where my mouth is even though I had reservations about this product. I don't mind the money aspect as this is a small community and any effort to keep it alive should be well appreciated by all its members. I will not ask for my money back but I will ask that in the future please connect with your paying customers. We have a lot to say and should be heard whether we disagree or not. In the end we are the ones who pay to keep your products viable and on the shelf. After purchasing Airport 2002 v.1 with FSNAT I lost a lot of trust and respect for Wilco Publishing and its product line. Further, I was particularly unhappy with the level of support from Wilco (this forum is a step in the right direction). The customer feedback form on the Wilco website should be DEMOLISHED! Period. As long as it remains I WILL NOT purchase another product from Wilco. Sorry for the strong language here but I am still ###### about Airport 2k2 v.1 and FSNAT.Thanks for listening.
  3. I can't say enough good things about the Meridian. I have quite a few hours in it so far and it is a dream. It does everything it's supposed to do. I have a 1.6Ghz system with G3Ti200 and it is very smooth. I have turned down the VC via the Optimizer because I rarely use the VC. The smoothness of the electronic gauges are sweet. You really feel like you are working a thing of beauty. I am still finding wonderful surprises after finally climbing out of the cockpit long enough to re-read the manual. Things like the female annunciated checklist that is available using the CVR300i. The checklist is exhaustive but easy to use. What a neat trick. There is just so much to like with this one.My favorite of all time,
  4. Serge has replied. I will now purchase and test the A320 and post my results in a day or two.Cheers!
  5. Hello all. I am really trying hard to regain my trust in Wilco's products. I really thought that FSNAT and Airport 2k2 was a fluke. Now I am hearing a lot of flak about the new A320 just released by Wilco. In an effort to find out for myself I am taking on Wilco (and Serge) in a challenge for them to prove this new product is really a good one. Here is what I have posted at the Wilco forum. Stay tuned: Okay Serge, I'll bite. I'll put my money where my mouth is. Do you really, really, really think that if I were to purchase the A320 and set it up as you suggest that I would find it a satisfying and rewarding experience? If you do then I will go right out and purchase this plane. No kidding. I will take a leap of faith on your words. Will you stand by your words? Will you stand by Wilco's? I really want to be a happy Wilco customer and will pay good money if you can give a customer satisfaction guarantee. I am really trying hard to regain my trust in Wilco. Is this the time?I await your answer.P.S. I will give it my best and really try to make it work. I have lots of experience with this sim and many other fine add-on aircraft. I will even go so far as to completely re-install FS2002 if needed. My system specs are 1.6GHz P4 with 768mb RAM, G-force3 Ti200, Intel MB, Windows XP Professional, very few add-ons installed at the moment (mostly the wonderful F1-Piper Meridian), FSUIPC and other critical files up-to-date.For all the others out there on the fence with this product I will give an honest opinion and report as un-biasedly as humanly possible. With credit card in-hand the ball is in your court Wilco.
  6. Simple Cliff. Just make sure that the generator and alternator switches on the overhead panel are on. You probably used the Ctrl-E function to start the Meridian. If so, you should also insure that the condition lever is full forward as it should be. You should also try starting up the Meridian using the Checklist. There is a nice audible checklist (female voice) that calls out each checklist item. It can be found on the CVR300i. Read all about it in the manual.Hope this fixes your battery problem.Regards,
  7. Okay, I'm really getting into RC now that I have a new plane - the Piper Meridian. What's the best way to fly VFR with RC? Is there a way I can make calls to ATC when approaching an airport? Thanks,
  8. Thanks Ray & Scott. I look forward to 3.1.Good day,
  9. Thanks for the reply Ray. Is there no way to have RC give "Taxi to general aviation parking instructions"? Probably not a realistic solution anyway. Thanks again,
  10. RC v3.01 using MSFS generated flight plans. At the end of each flight after the handoff to ground I am told to "Taxi to ". That's it. Sounds like ground can't fill in the blank here. Any ideas? Should I have asked beforehand and in the flight plan which gate or ramp I intend to use? Thanks,
  11. I almost forgot to mention Dave Scofield's wonderful adventures for the Meridian. Really top notch. Here's the web address:http://users.adelphia.net/~dscofieldThanks Dave,
  12. Just flew the turtorial and this bird is amazing. She flies quite well and with good framerates on my 1.6GHz P4. I have a G3Ti200 with most of the settings set reasonably high. I haven't changed them since flying around in the SenecaV and there is no difference in fluidity flying the Meridian. The main difference is the true-to-life gauges and the smoothness of those gauges. You can easily fly an approach without having to guess at the exact numbers. This plane is really a joy to fly. The GNS530 alone is worth the price and it is coulpled well with other gauges and functions. The TCAS is spot-on too. I spotted and avoided another AI plane just before ATC warned me. The graphics are stunning. The night lighting is a thing of beauty with the soft panel glow and the panel backlighting and knob lighting are just right. The ice lights add a special touch at night. I have very little time to post this as I must get back in the air to fully enjoy this beauty. I have flown every major GA and heavy out there and this is by far the best and with no install woes or major framerate hits. This is the one to get. Other commercial aircraft vendors will be hard pressed to match or beat this plane.Simply amazing.Just my 2cents,
  13. Steady yourselves Gents! Me thinks me hears the sound of something wonderful comming this way. Jim Rhoads has just released the Meridian repaint template (used in textomatic) for public release. I can't be long now. Head on over to Flight1's forum for a link to the copy.I wonder who will be the first on the block with a new paint job for this beauty.I hope all goes well. We certainly need a good turnout this time.Cheers,
  14. Steady yourselves gents. Me thinks me hears the sound of something wonderful comming this way. I have waited anxiously for weeks for this day to come. I only hope it's tomorrow. I'm sure Jim won't give the exact hour just yet but he did post a link for the Meridian repaint template (used in textomatic) for public release. Go check it out at the Flight1 forum: http://www.simforums.com/forums/display_to...&PagePosition=1I wonder who will be the first on the block with a new repaint? Can't be long now.Cheers,
  15. >If it does come to the mac, I would seriously consider buying one!Me too.
  16. Thanks Uwe. I must be doing something wrong. Do you have a previous RealityXP product installled? Did the GNS530 install ask for that license key as well?Regards,
  17. Has anyone been able to get this package working? I'm having problems getting it to respond at all.
  18. Thanks you Tony. That bit of info will save me from paying twice for the same version.Have a great day.
  19. I am just returning to Fly!II and seeing quite a few posts about the PMDG 757. Is there a new version? or is this the same one from May of 2002?Thanks,
  20. I am just returning to Fly!II and am in the process of going through the new patch installation. I previously flew the wonderful PMDG 777 & 757 aircraft for Fly!II. I see there are quite a few posts about the 757 on this forum lately. Having owned the PMDG 757 do I have the most current version? or has PMDG released another newer model? Thanks,
