  1. I want to thank Robert, Lefteris, and all of the PMDG staff for working overtime to get SU2 out. I waited patiently and resisted whimpering like a baby demanding to have my favorite toy. I was simply glad that work was moving forward with the wonderful 737TNG project. This time around I resisted putting my foot in my mouth. Without my foot in my mouth I can cheerfully say, "Happy Holidays to all at PMDG and thanks for another wonderful product this year".P.S. Your new website rocks!Regards,
  2. I own just about every product FSD has produced and I have been more than satisfied. They are a fine group of developers with a keen attention to detail. The Cheyenne is still a favorite in my hangar.Go for it!
  3. That looks a lot better than the default visibility layer Martijn. How does one go about replacing the visibility layer with the stratus overcast layer? Thanks,
  4. You're welcome. I wonder if our problem is due to the type of graphics card we use. Does everyone have the fog/haze problem?Later,
  5. Hey Sean. If you want real world dynamic weather without the haze layer you must first select real world weather (updated every 15 minutes) and select OK. Then go back to the weather screen and select User Defined Weather and then Customize Weather. From there you can click on each weather reporting station and change the visibility to unlimited. This will get rid of the haze and keep the dynamic weather as long as you are near the weather reporting stations you just changed. You can also zoom out to select more reporting stations along your intended path.Hope this helps,Ken
  6. I wonder why no one has created a good payware version of the King Air. This was one of the first planes I fell in love with many years ago. I stare at one whenever I visit my local FBO. This plane is big.
  7. I have re-discovered the Cheyenne 400LS from FSD International. Hats off to Steve Small and company for upgrading the Cheyenne to FS9 quality. This twin has always been one of my favorites and now it's back in GMAX form for FS9. If you haven't flown this one yet you're in for a treat. The upgrade is free for previous owners. The Cheyenne and Cessna Centurion II from Carenado are my favorites. I tend to fly the smaller GA aircraft because they give me time to practice my instruments. My hangar will be complete when the Meridian is finally upgraded for FS9.Regards,Ken
  8. Randy, I have to agree with Ray on this one and it's not often that Ray and I see eye-to-eye on many subjects. PMDG's NG works great on my little 'ole 1.5GHz PC with the same video card you use. I have been enjoying NG and many other aircraft using FS9 with great frame rates. For $100.00 you and I can get drunk and eat pizza all night while defying FAA regulations concerning alcoholic beverages in the cockpit. Sounds like fun to me. :-)Regards,
  9. Thanks Anthony and others. I'll give this a try.Regards,
  10. Thanks Markus. I use downloaded weather set at 15min intervals. I takeoff from my home airport in San Antonio (KSAT) consistenly. The fog/haze suddenly appears between 1200 and 2300ft 100% of the time shortly after takeoff. I can't figure how to turn it off.Regards,
  11. Exactly Moose. You have explained it perfectly. Does anyone have a clue as to what is going on? Maybe the cloud master Chris Willis can be of assistance. This is very annoying, though not critical.Best,
  12. That's the best part. Alpha Tango allows you to pay as you go. I put down about $1,000 and every time my balance would go below $300 I would just add a little more. You can choose how much you want to put down and there is even a discount for paying in advance. Wright Flyers is a good organization. They are more structured. I kind of enjoyed the flexible scheduling and payment plans with AT though. They were not laid back when it came to safety though. The instructors were top rate. But good instructors are always hard to find since they usually move up. I was lucky and kept my instructor all the way up to my final check ride.Good luck,
  13. I got my private pilot certificate at Alpha Tango a few years ago. It's right near the tower at San Antonio International Airport. I'm currently working on my instrument rating. Don't know what it's like at AT since 9/11. When I trained there the school was about 90% foreign students from all over the world. The FBI came down hard on them because of that. In my opinion it was a great school. I made many friends there. Most have moved on to commerial ventures. My flight instructor was from India and moved to Canada before 9/11. He was having visa trouble getting back into this country. I've lost touch with him. Anyway, there are a few place in town that provide good training. Are you interested?Regards,
  14. Does anyone have a problem with extreme haze or fog after a few hundred feet or when getting close to clouds? This happens with the default downloaded weather. When I take off visibility is great and the clouds well established and for some reason I am thown into a thick layer of haze or fog. I am not in a cloud formation but directly underneath. Any ideas? Thanks,
  15. Thanks Chris. Your fix works great.Regards,
  16. GeofA are you planning on upgrading the Debonair to fs9? If not, would you send me your updated config files or instructions on what to change? Thanks,
  17. Hey GeofA, does your Debonair (sp) work in FS2004 without changes? I would like to install it next. She's a beaut.
  18. Thanks Greg and JJ. Looks like we'll have to do more troubleshooting to figure this one out. I'll send an email to the Carenado team. It might be helpful for them. Then again I'm sure they are working on making this beauty work in FS2004. Some of us just can't wait. :-)Thanks again,
  19. Before you go full speed ahead and install pre-FS2004 add-ons in COF be careful. Here's what happened to me when I tried to install Carenado's C210 in FS2004. After completely re-installing Windows XP Pro (a simple process using Microsoft's RIS tool)I then installed a pristine copy of FS2004. I spent the first hour setting up the flight sim as I usually do. After a few familiarization flights I installed my first add-on aircraft. I chose Carenado's Cessna 210 Centurion II. I fell in love with this plane when it was first released. Anyway, it performed just as it did in FS2002. I then installed the patch. Still no problem. Great plane. The next thing I did was to make this plane my default start-up plane. After that FS2004 refused to start. Each time it kicked me back to the desktop. I re-booted to be sure that it wasn't something to do with registry or memory issues. Still the same dump to the desktop. Luckily Microsoft has provided a Reset Defaults program located under the Troubleshooting menu. I lost all of the configuration settings but at least I did not have to re-install FS2004. This is strictly my own fault since Carenado has stated that they will provide an update for FS2004 if one is needed. Just thought I'd let others know about this. Can anyone help me verify this?Regards,
  20. Thanks Robert. During the screaming session I did mention the fact that we sometimes unfairly compare many flight sim add-on companies to huge multi-million dollar conglomorates and expect them to deliver the same level of services. I do understand that PMDG works hard to stay afloat and make a profit for the many hours of hard work it takes to make such great products. Your level of detail and quality is second-to-none. I hope that our concerns are geared toward making PMDG the best it can be. We do care and show it with our continuing support and money well spent.Regards,
  21. Thanks to everyone at PMDG for listening to its customers. That shows the true mark of a great company and a great development team. Hope it didn't push you too far back. Hope we didn't scream too loud. :)Good luck with the upcoming patch.Best regards,
  22. Alan, while I mostly agree with you that the cost was outrageous for seemingly the same plane with a re-paint, I applaud Eaglesoft for listening to customer complaints and responding in a positive move to reduce the price in this case.We all jump on these companies daily with complaints and criticisms. We sometimes compare them to huge monopolies profiting millions of dollars in revenue each year. These companies are usually community-based and spend a great deal of time perfecting their craft. I'm not saying they should not be held accountable to paying customers. On the contrary, I recently started a post in another forum trying to get one of these groups (an outstanding and talented group) to see the customer's point-of-view with regards to anti-piracy solutions. As paying customers we should be listened to. "The customer is always right" is an internal business motto, not a consumer chant. Most customers are just trying to be heard and in this case were heard. Let's cut Eaglesoft a break here. They have responded in a positive way. I love their planes and appreciate all the work that they put into them. Even though I have paid the $17.99 for the Hawker, and I feel it was too much from my point-of-view, I will not ask for the reduced price. My way of saying "Thanks for listening Eaglesoft and thanks for the free Premier I". The author of the Premier I says that he spent 9 months creating the Premier I only to give it away as an inducement. I applaud this kind of fairness and support it when I can.If we beat
  23. Bob you have hit the nail on the head. Things do change and we as paying customers need to know that our investment in this hobby is protected from such practices. The fact that issues like this are receiving such public attention shows that there is a need to re-think the process. It's funny that on the eve of FS2004's release we are having such a discussion. To be honest how many users, customers, developers, or others have kept the CD in the drive when using FS2000. Anyone can cheat. What we need is a user friendly method to decrease the impact of piracy. The customer should not have to suffer unduly or have their systems held hostage in order to protect companies from theft. I can honestly say that I have not pirated or promoted piracy on my PC. We do have a voice and companies will listen.Regards,
