  1. Anniette, it's me who has to thank you for all these splendid repaints. I must apologize for not having done that before, I've been out of town for too many days.A bient
  2. Hi,The last ATR42-500 carries sounds which I recorded inside a Dash8 (I had no flights scheduled in an ATR by that time, and I found the Dash 8 sounds similar enough :-), except that the ATR is more quiet, this confirmed by a couple of ATR pilots).Paco
  3. Hi,It seems to be a good solution for many setups, but unfortunately it doesn't work on mine (hercules 4500 64Mb). I believe it must be video card dependant. In my system, what makes a hughe difference is the AGP aperture size in the BIOS setup. If I set it to anything more than 64Mb, my FS2002 turns into a slideshow. Any value equal or less to 64 makes it fluid again.Paco
  4. Hi,I cannot talk about your specific setup. On mine, I had a problem with my video card driver which produced a severe error (blue screen and restart with disk errors) every time I tried to switch tasks while FS was on full screen mode. Was solved with latest drivers (y video card is a hercules 4500).I found Windows XP (home)to be much more stable, and surprisingly faster in framerates than 98. The problem... is when you hit a problem :-) . I have a USB Wacom tablet apart form the usual PS2 mouse. It will never wake up after a suspend; need to switch off the PC, unplug the power cord, plug it again and start again in order to get the tablet recognized again. This is however not the worse problem:When I first upgraded to XP from 98, I was contimously having an error message everytime I right clicked on some elements. E-mailed MS support and they sent me some instructions i should follow to try to identify the problem. I followed them step by step (and Im not and unexperienced user, I've been system administrator in my office and have setup lots of systems in all Windows flavours since 3.1 through NT4.0, linux etc.) and the result was that my WXP installation would not boot up again. Tried to repair from CD, nada. Had to do a full re-install.I won't tell the whole story here, but finally I managed to recover my installation (almost completely, I lost some programs which I still need to reinstall) after FOUR re-installs of WXP, this time I didn't dare to call MS. Now I have a nice working XP that runs everything much better than my old 98 (except for the suspend problem on the tablet), but the process has been quite painful. Not for the novice. I will also mention that the VPP Pro and pedals that I have gave me also quite a few problems, but they are the gameport version.Paco
  5. Strange... I tested the link again and worked. Maybe the mail server was down. If you encounter problems, you can try pacosan@arrakis.es but on this one I have a size limitation.ThanksPaco
  6. Hi,As I said above, I got in love with those shiny 4-props when I was a kid long ago. This is one of the beauties I fell in love with. I saw this one back in the 60's when it was still in service. Well, it could have been one of the other 5 SuperConnies owned by Iberia.I'd really appreciate if you can send me cockpit interior photos to francisco.sanchez@dnv.comThanks a lot for your offer.Paco
  7. Caravelle... that was my first aircraft as passenger when I was a child. From Madrid to Mallorca; there was a huge storm over Palma and the flight was diverted back to Alicante where we had to stay the whole night in the airport! There was a very characteristic jet fuel smell in the cabin of those Caravelles (its funny how one can remember a particular smell after so many years). Iberia had quite a few Caravelle II-r at that time.Paco
  8. Beautiful and interesting plane. Apart from what is said in that url as reasons for dropping the project, it had a severe limitation in crosswind landing due to the huge wingspan and low wing which made it easy to hit the ground with the wingtips at landing (according to "The world's worst aircraft").Paco
  9. Hello!I wish I could do that, but the textures will be so different... For example, passenger windows will be no more painted in th texture, as all of them (25 on each side) are now included in the visual model, and fitted with "glass" in a semi transparent reflective texture. This makes a bit easier to paint as there is no need to align windows in different sections of the fuselage. There will also be a lighted texture for the passenger cabin interior, which will be seen at night through the windows when lights are on (I still need to check if there will be any conflict between the transparent reflective windows and the light texture). The fuselage now is not composed of four pieces (forward, middle, aft and gear bay), but they have been merged into one, thus avoiding the visually disgusting seams between each part.Paco
  10. Hi,I never found the reason for this problem. The workaround I used was to zoom in several times and then zoom out. It's really strange; the 42-500 has the visual model for wings and fuselage unchanged from the 42-300, the UVW mapping and textures are the same, etc. The only items changed are virtual cockpit and propellers. But the 42-500 does not suffer from this problem. Maybe one day if I have time I will make an update to the 42-300, taking the -500 fuselage and wings. Paco
  11. Want a good Dash 7?http://www.flightsimonline.comReally incredible.Paco
  12. OK, then I won't download it... (teasing). Thanks Mike for your "flawed" superb aircrafts.Paco
  13. Sorry but, are you sure you're talking about my panel? I don't remember having done that!:-)Paco
  14. Hi,I think I placed the info about this in my site, but in the ATR42-300 section. I'm sorry I haven't had time enough to update it yet. The issue seems to be a kind of bug in FS2002. It looks like when two commands are given in fast sucession, FS interpretes this as a double command, even when the two commands given are not the same. That is, if you order "Increase heding" and shortly afterwards you order "Increase VS", FS interpretes this as a double click on the "increase heading", which results in a 10deg increment. You give the first command by clicking on the HDG button, and the second command can come from four possible sources: The PWR MGT gauge, the IAS hold gauge and the torque display gauges. All threee, if I remember well, use software-generated "key commands" that they pass to FS to accomplish their automated functions. The most funny thing is that this problem only appears on some systems, but others do not suffer from it. My system was trouble free in this respect, so I was totally blind when trying to find a solution, as I couldn't reproduce it. When I downloaded last FSUIPC, I found that Peter Dowson had found the cause of the problem and the solution to it. You can download his latest version and his explanation of the problem at www.Schiratti.com/dowsonPaco
  15. Hi, The outer sections of the wings (outboard of the engines) are taken from the 42- then enlarged and a few items added (some underside which cannot be seen). The wing tips are new. The center section has undergone a major rework. Thanks for the info about the tail beacon. I'll have a look here at LEMD (where the unit I'll try to depict is based). In any case, the colour is not coded in the visual model, and can be changed quite easily in the aircraft.cfg file. Thanks for your contribution.Paco
  16. Hi,You say that the plane won't get off the gound. Did you try to adjust the elevator trim to takeoff configuration? FS2002 has a known bug that causes trim to go all the way down each time a plane is loaded. Some aircrafts can be flown in this configuration, but some others (particularly those with accurate flight dynamics) cannot.Mr Bearracing made at least two inaccuracies in his report for the ATR42-300. First, he tested version 1 when version 2 was already available with totally new flight dynamics. He recommends changing the flight model by a Dash8 model which is useless except as a toy, and completely destroys all turboprop parameters which have been very carefully chosen. Second inaccuracy, he stated in his report that I included a sound package with my aircraft. Well, I did not, I only include a new sound.cfg to be used with the default sounds. Only very recently in the 42-500 I included it (although the sounds were recorded in another A/C). The flight model of the ATR 42-500 has been tested by a real ATR pilot who advised some changes which were implemented. Still it is slightly oversensitive on the elevator and elevator trim, but I wouldn't call it unflyable. In particular, all engine parameters have been very accurately reproduced from the real plane, and match within +-1% the performance tables of the aircraft. On the contrary, MS was completely careless on the flight dynamics of the Dash8, which can be easily understood as it was developed for an AI plane only and not meant to be flown. But, if yuou insist to use the Dash8 air file... good luck.Paco
  17. Hi,Here it is, starting to take shape, although still carrying the old 42-500 textures. All textures will be completely new, so it will take quite long before it is released.I just joined the SimuBuild group as aircraft designer, so you can find me there from now on. And here in this forum of course. Paco
  18. ...>>ATR 42-300 >http://ftp.avsim.com/library/sendfile.php?DownloadID=15563 >...This is an outdated version. I uploaded version 2 of my ATR42-300:http://ftp.avsim.com/library/sendfile.php?DownloadID=15893This one fixes a few things, but still carries a bug in the flight dynamics. A fix for it was available at my site, but I had to delete it due to space probelms, please e-mail me if you need the fix.I also made an ATR42-500 with many more enhancements: http://ftp.avsim.com/library/sendfile.php?DownloadID=18085I'm now working in an ATR72-500 qwhich will be ready in about 2 months, with a lot more than the 42.Paco
  19. Let's see:Lockheed Constellation : 5 votesDC-4 : 2 votesSaab 340: Anniette's voteLockheed Electra : 1 vote (I love that plane too)It looks like it will be a Connie; any more opinions? Anniette, I will seriously consider the 340 too. If not now, maybe later on...Paco
  20. Hi Ralph! That's very kind from you, I appreciate your offer, but I am in process of solving my site problems. Thanks a lot,Paco
  21. Hi all,Just arrived from holidays, and after a short participation in another team's project as gauge programmer, I'll start over my ATR72-500 (I hope it will be good enough as for Anniette to make one of her fantastic liveries for it...). I'll make it in Air Nostrum colours. So I must start looking for ideas for my next project. It HAS to be a propeller plane. Best would be a 4-prop. When I was a child (too many years ago), my father used to take me to the airport where we lived at Valencia; then I got in love with those beautiful shiny airliners. During these holidays I had the oprtunity to see some of them abandoned at El Alto airport (at Bolivia).I accept suggestions for this next project: my preferred ones are DC-4, DC-6 or Constellation, but other ideas will be OK, provided there is enough information around about them. If anyone knows about a site with photos of the cabin iterior, etc. I'll greatly appreciate (I'll make it with a VC of course).Any ideas are welcome. Thanks.Paco
  22. Anniette,I'm really sorry to hear that you've been offended in such a way. Believe me, should you have chosen to simply dissapear and not upload any more of your fantastic repaints, I would (and I believe the vaste majority of people here also would) have fully understood and supported you, but that would have been too sad for all of us. I was also tempted some time ago to do that. If you still decide to share with us here those repaints you make for yourself, those will always be the best ones -the artist's true inspiration. Truly yours,Paco
  23. Hi,The NP to be used in cruise should be 77%, or 86% in icing conditions.I plan to make a fix for the warning lights. I used the default King Air master warning lights, but these have a strange behaviour when torque increases. At each rpm variation, the power should be adjsuted accordingly. This effect is not so obvious in the -500, in which the propeller tables are more fine tuned. The -500 model can also be flown with manual rpm control with the aid of a "backdoor" I left in the condition levers: placing them in feather condition disables the gauge automation, so the propellers will go to feather condition but afterwards will follow any command from you controller or keyboard.Regards,Paco
  24. Hi again,I'm departing in a few hours (14 hours flight to Santiago de Chile and then Atacama desert and Bolivia). This message is to say a big "Thank you" for the support I've got here. See you in September. :-beerchugPacoPS I see I've got one more of those little yellow stars.. how nice!
