  1. Greg, Okay, I have the latest and greatest from VIA, the newest audio drivers and the side of the case is off. These were done before you posted, that's what I get for posting so late at night, I forget to mention little things. I have not yet loaded DirectX 9.0b again but will do so, just in case. Thanks, and I'll post my findings once that's done.ChuckBStudent PP-ASELAthlon XP 2800+ASUS A7V333Antec TruePower 480 PS1.0 gig DDR PC2700ATI Radeon 9800Pro 128 running Omega Driver 2.4.78 (Based on 3.7)Hercules Fortissimo II SoundWD 60 gig HDDWD 40 gig HDDCH Products USB YokeCH Products USB PedalsWindows XP Prohttp://vatsim.pilotmedia.fi/statusindicato...tor=OD1&a=a.jpg
  2. The subject says it all, but here are the details... I fly mostly online on VATSIM, but I have tested this offline as well. I'll start up, select my aircraft and all of that stuff. At least 95% of the time, if not more, FS will freeze on me, rendering the computer completely locked. The only thing going on still is the same sound over and over and over, usually the engine noise. I thought it could also be vid related or heat related, but have tried 3 different vid drivers and running ASUS Probe, my temps never get above 125 degrees F. I'm thinking now that it's a sound card issue, it's a couple of years old, the oldest item in my current rig. I have even went so far as to uninstall and reinstall FS9. I will be getting a new SB Audigy 2 tomorrow via UPS and if that doesn't fix it, I'll be re-formatting the machine. I don't know what else to do, so any advice that can be offered, I will listen to gladly. Thanks in advance!ChuckBStudent PP-ASELAthlon XP 2800+ASUS A7V333Antec TruePower 480 PS1.0 gig DDR PC2700ATI Radeon 9800Pro 128 running Omega Driver 2.4.78 (Based on 3.7)Hercules Fortissimo II SoundWD 60 gig HDDWD 40 gig HDDCH Products USB YokeCH Products USB PedalsWindows XP Prohttp://vatsim.pilotmedia.fi/statusindicato...tor=OD1&a=a.jpg
  3. Bobby, Thanks for the input on drivers! I was using the nVidia Omega drivers on my Ti200 and I really like the results. The Radeon drivers tweaked by Omega are top-notch as well! This new setup is pretty darned nice, I'm getting way better frames consistently and my computer is not working nearly as hard. I'm always nervous when making an upgrade that I won't be too impressed with the results. With this upgrade though, I'm a happy camper!!ChuckBStudent PP-ASELOn VATSIM: DAL889OPT121SWA1049UPS1034ZHU ARTCC Asst. Chiefhttp://vatsim.pilotmedia.fi/statusindicato...tor=OD1&a=a.jpg
  4. Hey all, Well, I had some money burning a hole in my pocket so I made a few purchases. I already have an ASUS A7V333 mobo, 512mb of PC2700DDR and a Hercules Gamesurround II sound card to use from this current machine. I purchased an AMD XP2800+ cpu, another 512mb of PC2700DDR, an ATI 9800 Pro 128mb video card, and an Antec TruePower 480 watt power supply. I think that this new setup will let me run FS2004 pretty well, but I do have a question regarding the 9800 Pro. This is my first ATI video card and I am really dumb when it comes to the drivers put out by ATI, so which ones should I go with for this setup? I'll have the equipment here on the afternoon of the 8th and I would love to have a few replies before I get too involved with the actual upgrade. Thanks!ChuckBStudent PP-ASELOn VATSIM: DAL889OPT121SWA1049UPS1034ZHU ARTCC Asst. Chiefhttp://vatsim.pilotmedia.fi/statusindicato...tor=OD1&a=a.jpg
  5. Edgard,Thanks for the info, I'll give the quick install a try next. I have tinkered w/ FS a bit and it's running acceptibly now, and from doing some reading, there are suggestions that there isn't too much of a performance boost between 2x and 4x on AGP cards, but I just hate when something doesn't work the way it should!!ChuckBStudent PP-ASELOn VATSIM: DAL889OPT121SWA1049UPS1034ZHU ARTCC Asst. 6. Thanks for the advice. Unfortunately, checking out the card and the chipset through Powerstrip, it shows that the card is AGP 4x capable, but the chipset is limiting it to 2x. I've tried to unload the latest 4-in-1 for an older version I was running, but that hasn't proved successful so far. Maybe I have done something wrong there. If anyone has experience in going back to older 4-in-1 drivers, could you please tell me step by step what you did, then maybe I can try the same thing and see if that works.ChuckBStudent PP-ASELOn VATSIM: DAL889SWA1049UPS1034ZHU ARTCC Asst. 7. Hey all, I loaded the new 4-in-1 447 service pack Monday night and when I was checking out my video settings today after FS was running like crap, and I discovered that my AGP rate is down to 2x max. I tried to force 4x using RivaTuner but no luck so far. I'm running the a Visiontek GF3 ti200 w/ 43.45 drivers on an AMD 1.3 cpu, Asus A7V333 mobo and WinXP Pro. If anyone has any advice for how I can get my 4x back, please let me know. Also, I have already checked in the BIOS and it's still showing 4x there. I'm really puzzled by this. Thanks in advance for any help or advice. One last thing, I've already tried going back to some earlier 4-in-1 drivers and that didn't help out either. Am I going to have to re-format for this to work right again?ChuckBStudent PP-ASELOn VATSIM: DAL889OPT121SWA1049UPS1034ZHU ARTCC Asst. 8. Damian, Awesome, thanks a ton!! The purchase was easy, the installation was easy and the product works excellent! Thank you and thanks to the beta team for doing a great job! Keep up the great work!ChuckBOn VATSIM: DAL889UPS918ZKC Controller
  9. You have the latest 4-in-1 drivers. You have the latest video drivers. Have you checked sound drivers yet? After that, I'd say to uninstall and reinstall FS2002. If that doesn't work, I don't know what to tell you...ChuckBOn VATSIM: DAL889UPS918ZKC ControllerOn BushNet: BFU889BFU_CTR/Dispatch
  10. Hey there, I've encountered the same problems in the past. The g3d.dll file is loaded in your modules folder in FS... I started having problems with it the other day and figured it was either a video driver-related problem or a corrupt g3d.dll file. I pulled the original file off of disc one of FS2K2, it was in one of the .cab files, and reinstalled it and so far, the problem has seemed to disappear. Another observation that I've made is that it's not a problem solely with VIA chipset mobos either, I'm running an SiS-based mobo so I don't have to worry about 4-in-1 drivers... I dare say that I believe it's just a matter of the file itself becoming corrupt. Good luck!ChuckBOn VATSIM: DAL889UPS918ZKC ControllerOn BushNet: BFU889BFU_CTR/Dispatch

  12. Hey all, I have a couple of questions regarding GeForce video cards and settings that you use. I have tried a couple of different 'tweak' programs to improve the looks of my sim and currently, I'm using a program called GeForce Tweak Utility. It gives a lot of options, but I'm not really happy with the way it makes FS look, it's almost cartoonish. I'm using a VisionTek GeForce3 Ti200 with an AMD 1.33 gig processor, and at one time, when I took screenshots, it looked really nice, almost real. Since I've used this program, the screenies don't look as good, so I was wondering if any of you could give me a list of what you have checked and unchecked for options, if you use this program. Also, if there is a program that you like more, please feel free to recommend it, I'm open to suggestions. Thanks!Chuck
