  3. The following post is not intended to advertise the fs-gs service but to try to clear up the differences expressed in this topic between those that use the service and those that don'tFs-Gs does not believe that the g3d problem exists only in ORBX scenery. I used that as an example in which the developer found a cure for a specific area by removing a file after what I am sure was exhaustive study. The post was by Holger Sandman and can be found in their forums. A 2nd post by the same author removed a whole airport which he felt was the culprit..I didn't comment on Aerosoft scenery because we are aware of g3d issues in addition to numerous other issues and do not recommend those sceneries to our clients. So the probability that they would be using any specific sceneries mentioned here as well as others are very low. Those fs-gs clients who have posted here are urged to stay away from products that I have either tested personally or through our network of clients, or through intensive study of product forums for all of the availabe add-ons in the market today have been found to be "un-acceptable" to our criteria.I never claimed to have a "fix" for g3d.dll errors nor do I tell that to potential clients. During the initial interview I make sure that a potential client understands the limitations of what we do and to set their expectations accordingly. If a client experiences a g3d.dll error or other errors I try to replicate the flight and see if it is a specific user error or machine/software error or if it can be repeated on my machines. We also ask the client to repeat the flight over and over to try to isolate potential causes.Fs-gs puts a very heavy emphasis on the structure of the scenery.cfg. I have found that by organizing the.cfg in a specific manner we can isolate the client from errors relating to it and I can unify my clients which makes testing a much simpler process when dealing with a large and diverse client base.I have been studying the issue of g3d errors very intensively for a long time mainly through multi-player flights because their is much heavier usage of all of the simulators aspects including multiple heavy usage planes such as those of PMDG and the Cessna mustang, Active Sky, in both stock and non-stock sceneries and with clients who are using a wide range of add-ons.My findings so far (and I urge caution here since these are specific to my service and may not be of any value to others)1. I urge my clients to always use the latest Nvidia drivers since we believe that there is a correlation between some older drivers and the g3d error unless a specific error in the drivers is found and substantiatted by Nvidia. I do not recommend that any client use ATI cards not because they are not "good" video cards but because of their specific interaction with FSX. We also recommend specific models of video cards to our clients which have been tested and shown to support the necessary "tweaks" which fs-gs uses. Fs-gs does not support tweaks initiated by a user or by 3rd parties which are unsubstaniated through our testing. Each tweak is set according to the users individual card and his/her fsx software environment. In this way we can control stability issues and produce much clearer test results.2 Our clients are taught to pre-flight their computers by using a set of specific settings which we refer to as our "bible". In this manner the client can control many aspects of their planned flight through adjustments in the ,cfg before launching the sim including autogen density etc for specific regions and applicable to their machine environment only.3. Through our continuing service plan I can check dll.xmls and exe.xmls for syntax errors which can often cause random crashes of failures to launch.4. I have found a correlation just recently between BIOS memory settings and overall stability issues which are also affecting instances of g3d errors (these studies are done on Asus MoBos and may or may not nbe applicable to others). Fs-gs wil either walk the client through the BIOS or allow more advanced users to adjust memory frquency according to information obtained from the MoBo manufacturer and other sources and set the correct frequency which may downclock memory in certain instances. This has shown to be effective in eliminating some repeatable g3d errors.5 g3d errors are not associated to UIAutomation core and there is no definitive proof that the errors that are associated with UiAutomation are best settled through the method of deleting them from syswow or through putting a copy of the correct UIAutomation directly into the sim.6. Fs-gs controls all aspects of overcloking a clients machine. An unstable machine done incorrectly will affect all aspects of the sim. We follow strict conditions regarding a clients machines environment in both the software and hardware aspects and will terminate our association with any client that cannot respect our policy.Although this may seem harsh it has saved our clients countless hours of downtime caused by instability errors.7. We never reduce sliders. Our clients are told what to expect in the initial interview of their current computers and are told what they can to do to achieve their goals within their budgets.8, Fs-gs sets and controls all aspects of the clients machine including FSX installation, which AV, anti-spyware , etc........... which may affect performance or cause compatibility issues thus reducing errors caused by incompatible sotware in the Microsoft windows environment. There is much much more of course and all of the above are work-arounds not cures !!!!!!. But for now this will do in explaining why my clients fly more and fix less as they have expressed here.Michael Greenblattwww.fs-gs.comwww.simaddx.com
  4. Oh in addition not only do you insult people by making it seem as though you are more computer savvy you also make it seem as though you know more about life and money waste and every other thing than someone who chooses my service.
  5. What bothers me and what will contiue to bother me is that so many of these type of posts are re-directive.By that I mean that machine and machine environments are used as an excuse for what is a developers issue brought about by shoddy programming, bad to laughable beta testing rush to publish, greed, and other issues. For instance one developer argued for months that their product was not responsible for g3d.dll errors in the Seattle region denying any culpability. This in turn led to multiple "help" posts in many cases creating false impressions that the users computer or its environment was at fault which in turn leads to re-installs, unnecessary and expensive purchases and other time- consuming factors.Than on one of their forums they suddenly posted a "fix" which involved removing a file from their scenery which was causing an error. They have subsequently now decided that with so many "irresponsible" users who misuse equipment OC, tweaks etc. posting G3d.dll errors that they are absolving themselves of any responsibility at least in a visible manner.During intensive study of the g3d.dll errors fs-gs can replicate flights with 2 or more different machines flying simultaneously in a given area with a given add-on activated say on two machines and de-activated on the otther 2. These machines are totally different in both hardware structure and in software environment.Yet the two machines with the scenery activated will "crash" at exactly the same co-ordinates. If the scenery itself is de-activated all four or more machines will complete the flight without incident. It is not fs-gs's purpose to name names in public or to point fingers but we can in general say that these errors are rarely if ever machine or environment specific. What bothers me and will always bother me is how forums lead users down paths that can cause total confusion with guesses about factors that confuse and obscurate issues which can in turn lead to often costly and ineffective resultsOur service has nothing to do with Nick Needham and is not the same never was and never will be. That being said of course there are common conditions to both. Good engineering is good engineering. Our clients are fully informed of every step that we take. Absolutely nothing is hidden from them.Over the years we have dealt with all sorts of clients. We take clients from 0 and guide them through purchasing and building. We help them navigate the maze of available alternatives to both their hardware and software environments. We help clients keep their costs down by reviewing software for them and providing on-going support for any issues that may arise. They come back as return clients because they like the service and it helps them NOT BECAUSE THEY ARE IN THE DARK which has to be one of the most idiotic things ever said about us. A new low. This type of bull is exactly what keeps me in business. Who cares that some of you can do or at least think you can do what I do. The problem is that you put-down people who can't.You insult them by belittling the fact that they use my service and tell them to follow Nick N or ******* or whoever. By implication you make them seem less coputer savvy than you are.You can't use these forums to walk a 75yr old Scotsman who has never built a machine through a computer build using IRST and OC ing and do it blind over the net when their isn't a secondary computer present. You insult these clients and others like them with your holier than thou attitude. You are an anonymous and unknown factor to my clients and they don't trust you. With fs-gs they have a source to go to who they know and trust.Let me leave you with one more story:I have a client in Canada who was having some trouble with an install of the greatest add-on since the invention of flush toilets so he appealed to their forums (I wasn't available)One of the moderators offered help by taking over the clients machine and promptly deleted Acceleration than tried to re-install it. The end result was a ruined simThe moderator than signed off leaving my client in horrible disarray. The client decided to try a couple of things to get back his sim (which had been functioning fine) which in turn lead him to loosing his IRST RAID array and his overclockRecovery was a complicated ordeal as anyone who knows IRST environments on Intel 311 SSD drives would know.So the client lost hours and hours of work at the helpful hands of a self-proclaimed computer "expert"Which in turn cost my company additional hours to recover.and this is just one of a thousand stories that I hear every day caused by so-called experts.Michael Greenblatt www.fs-gs.comwww.simaddx.com
  6. Could you people please leave fs-gs out of your discussions pro or conThe ONLY people who know what I can or cannot do are those that have used my service.I don't remember any of my clients being called MADDOG but I am old and forgetful (63).It is not that I don't appreciate a compliment or two or that I can't learn from criticism it's just that it's such a complete waste of time and spaceI have been succesfully running my little web-based business for years and have heard every smarmy (yes smarmy) comment possible about my service yet I keep on keeping on.I have my own opinions about g3d.dll errors and their causes and don't feel it would be of any benefit whatsoever to post them here or in the developers relevant forums when they don't listen in any case, blame the users, microsoft, GOD, overclocking, Nvidia drivers, other developers, the sim, "old bits of 32bit code" and other similar diversionary tactics, every damn thing but............................................................Oh my god, I just realized it sounds like this topic.lol, lol, lol
  7. You can send me an e-mail requesting an initial consult. [email protected]
  8. Most of you know nothing about my service. Including how, why, or any other thing else. Why don't you just keep your discussions to what's relevant to you and your machine and your derogatory comments to yourselves. I own, use, and or test just about every add-on ever made including legacy add-ons and so do most of my clients. In fact I would venture to guess that my clients use more add-ons layered successfully than the average user posting here or at other sites. That list would Include FsCommander, FsInn, FsCo-pilot, Fs9, BSMM Electronic flight bags, Aireola, and a host of other products far too numerous to mention. I continue to be in business year after year despite all the negativity towards my work due primarily to my success rate at helping people who have reached a breaking point of conflicting information delivered through the web. Oftentimes I receive clients through the recommendations of developers who by themselves cannot solve a clients issue. I have achieved a level of mutual respect and an excellent working relationship with many developers. My service has been more successful with far less complaints than most other developers can claim but yet I still hear of how my approach "speaks volumes" about how wrong I am. Actually the constant complaints against FSX including incorrect installation paths, poor performance, repeated CTDs, incorrectly overclocked machines, FSX.cfgs with incorrect "tweaks", autogen folders corrupted by well-meaning developers writing to the default .xml incorrectly etc etc etc that are seen every day here (if you know how to identify them) as well as elsewhere may "speak volumes" regarding the confusing and often mis-leading "help" offered in forums. Michael Greenblatt www.fs-gs.com Oh and don't let me forget that they all use Win7 64 bit.

  10. I don't see it as released yet. In fact I can't even find a pre-pay "add to cart" button at the Flightsim Store.Am I missing something?

Oh and i forgot about this one"There's a sucker born every minute"Very creative and wisely thought out reply probably coming from a well developed source. Typical of these open, democratic and even-handed discussions that we all so love and respect concerning important issues.Just the type of passive-aggressiveness that you use. Like calling me by my last name "Greenblatt is on the case". Classic passive aggressive techniques laughable really. You are calling every one of my clients past or present a sucker who doesn't know what you know or doesn't understand what they do with their money or are unaware of their sims.Including pilots, computer techs, network admins, system admins developers etc etc etc.Unreal just unrealAre you sure they don't include some of your favorite people?Michael Greenblattwww.fs-gs.com

God you people are unbelievable.Tim's problem was already solved that's why he brought up an old post.He wanted to tell you that but instead you only half read (check for ADD LOL) and that in all likelyhood includes your half reading of Nick N's advice also. I would re-read that section on HDDs if I were you.As to the post that explains how my business would be better served if I were to remain quiet (how would you know unless you do what I do) These posts actually help to clarify to my clients and potential clients the reasons that their experience will work and has worked.Every time one or more of you goes off my business grows and my client list grows. So really I owe you a thanks in a weird convoluted sort of way. Fs-gs tests suppositions that we see proposed by others and when we see a performance benefit we inform our clients and advise them on how to proceed. If we don't see a performance benefit (as with dual drives unless certain requirements are met which may not be either cost or resource efficient enough for our clients and may unduly complicate later add-on installations beyond what is necessary.........we have to balance resource efficiency against cost ie....money could be better spent in other ways) than we check to see if there is a stability or other usage benefit (make life easier) for our clients. However If the complications which could arise (not everyone is adept at handling computers and installations and some add-ons require certain conditions) outweigh the benefits then we will advise our clients individually (not enmass) according to their computer knowledge, their needs, their desires and their pocketbooks!Which is why after all these years we are still in business and keep adding successful and happy simmers to our client list.AND YOU DID ATTACK TIM AND HE SAID SO AND HE SAID HE DIDN'T LIKE IT but you're so busy smelling your own importance you don't even recognize it.Not the first time and I'm sure it won't be the last.Michael Greenblattwww.fs-gs.com

Usually fs-gs requests from their clients that they not discuss any particulars regarding the service we do on their machines and one of the reasons for this has been dramatically demonstrated here in this post. The vitriolic personal attacks against Tim are shameful.I just spoke to him regarding our non-disclosure agreement and he explained that he was just trying to say "thanks" to me for the service which was performed on his machine and to express his feelings about his 'new" simulator experience and he was surprised and shocked by the replies.I explained that Fs-gs's success does not require that people on these or any other forums agree with why we do or do not DO THINGS THEIR WAY but rather because we adhere to our system regardless of "common" beliefs.Oh and by the way it works. It worked in the past when you called it "smoke and mirrors". It works regardless of you not understanding how or why, it works in spite of your disagreement, it works because year after year our clients return to us when they upgrade or need help after all the other sources have failed them. I myself have encountered this type of personal attack over and over again ever since I started this service and I am well used to this low-level nonsense but this is against a gentleman who had no idea that posters on these forums could sink to these levels. So........................1) to the poster who thought that Tim didn't understand the service I say RIDICULOUS !!!! We are not SOME JOHNNY COME LATELY FLY BY NIGHT OPERATION throughout the service our clients are given full explanations and we only continue when we are sure that every step is fully understood and.......................2) fs-gs service is designed to achieve a balance between visuals and performance and does not forsake either one for the other.Leave Tim alone if you want a fight than fight me. I welcome the opportunity just as I have welcomed it in the past.My clients in general are busy flying FSX instead of whining about it so they don't post here often and when they do they've learned to expect these type of replies.Tim now joins their ranks and once again our warnings to our clients regarding the forums are proved true.Shameful absolutely shameful.Michael Greenblattramsa329www.fs-gs.com
