  1. I recently went through the same exercise. From what I can determine, the following keys are NOT used in FSX ......Scroll lockTabBack Slash ()Caps LockLeft ShiftRight ShiftLeft CtrlRight Ctrl

  3. >Is anyone successfully useing this utility?>>Thanks:>RTHYes, I have installed it and I'm using it regularly. I did, however, decide that I did not want the program running in the background and checking every four seconds to see if there was a plan to convert.I modified the one and only line in convert_FSNav_iFly.cfg to point to the FLTPLAN subfolder in my FSX iFly directory structure first. Next I created a shortcut by right clicking on Convert_FSNav_iFly.exe and moved the shortcut to my desktop.I also found that I needed to run the program once before WindowsINI showed up as an option in the FSNav Export dialog box.It also may be worth mentioning that long filenames are not permitted. To load properly in the CO ROUTE field in iFly's CDU(FMC). Route names are limited to 10 characters, so I use XXXXYYYY where XXXX is origin and YYYY is the destination.Sorry for the long-winded explanation, but it may save you some hassle.Cheers ....... 4. I know it has been a long time since you posted, but there is a utility currently in the Avsim file library to convert flightplans built in FSNav to a format acceptable to iFly. The file is convertpln.zipCheers ...... Wayne
  5. Good day,We all know that the Flight Planner included with FSX is a rudimentary tool at best, and likely a direct carryover from FS9. There are more sophisticated planning tools available, but I would like to know the details of how the one included works. After having selected a route from origin to destination and an appropriate flight level, the Planner produces a Navigation Log. At the top of this log are estimated values for fuel burn and time en route. Can anyone tell me how the Flight Planner derives these values? It knows the aircraft type and distance. I've looked through the SDK and any other potential sources to try and find the method used, but no luck. The Planner must access values somewhere to perform the calculations ---- I would really like to know what it works with and where it finds the information for calculation. My apologies if this has been answered elsewhere. If so, just point me to the relevant post(s).Thank youWayne

Thanks to all above who have participated in this discussion.I have been unable to find an accurate TSFC or SFC for the CFM56-7B engines used in this aircraft. I decided to search the SDK and the aircraft.cfg file for all factors that might affect fuel consumption of the default Boeing 737-800 in FSX. After numerous tests of various modifications, I have found that the following change to the aircraft.cfg file produces acceptable results for me.I decided against modifying either fuel_flow_gain or ThrustSpecificFuelConsumption in the Turbine Engine Data section.[GeneralEngineData] fuel_flow_scalar = 0.6500 // DEFAULT IS 1.000 At cruise I now get 6252 lbs/hr (934 gals/hr) which is likely still not technically correct, but closer to reality.Cheers ....... 7. >Well, you've just learned (hopefully) a valuable lesson:>Never install any modification to the default a/c!>>Instead, use Explorer to copy/paste a backup copy of the>entire a/c's folder so that you can easily revert to the>original.>>You can easily install only the new 'liveries' and keep the>lame, original panel... ;)Thank you for taking the time to respond. As a responsible flight simmer, I did backup the original files before installing the modification, and have since reinstalled the original files and then applied just the textures. At least the original "lame" panel is functional, which is a great deal more than I can say for the modification!
  8. Downloaded ult_b747_400.zip which proposed to replace the default 747's in FS9 with realistic airlines --- Lufthansa, British Airways, Northwest, and Air Canada. Caught my eye as I am tired of Landmark, etc. Followed the installation instructions carefully, but the results were horrible. The EGT guage goes redline at takeoff and remains there, even at flight idle. N1 and N2 values are hopelessly unrealistic. Tried to locate the authors by searching on this site to no avail. Still searching for repaints of the default 747 fleet that do not change or interfere with the flight models.Ideas anyone?747fan CYYC

  10. oops, sorry, re-read your post and realized my comment was of no help

Boeing 747 - especially the MelJet varations

Has always been this way as far as I know. One would think they would at least match the height of the fuselage on a 747!
