  1. Hi Folks,My hard drive that had a lot of the old Attack Squadron files stored on it failed. So I'm hoping some files could be e-mailed; or, maybe upload them to our library?I'm looking for:-Model Editing Tools that Mad Doc published-JAS mission installer (Armourdave)- Mission Editor documentation in MS Word, PDF, and Windows Help formats (Mad Doc) - Warbirds had published skins for the B24, B17, P38, P47 (I recovered his "doll" P51 skin)- Bloomers JAS Mods (New gun-sight, flak sounds, etc...)- Can't remember who, but someone had uploaded a Spitfire skin.- U4EA001 had made some really nice mp missions: Celtic Sea Control, Melee Mountain (I recovered Lightning over London, Melee II)Other than the listed, I think I've recovered everything else.Thank you,JimBjbuff61173 at msn dot com
  2. Hello Jonathan,Here in our Flight Unlimited library is a file named: outer_terrain_editor.zipBelow is an excerpt from the file"The airport clearing for Portland International Airport is right against a river, and we don
  3. Hello,Yes I've done this as well and had the same results as you. I even went so far as creating a "dummy" cam.cfg, didn't help. I also went into his ddfix.dll and changed the reference from thief to flight3 to no avail. Here is a screen of where ddraw.dll entry is located in Flight3.exe(20c6b2). XVI32 is my favorite tool for these kinds of things.JimB Thank you for looking into the tool Andre. Had you the chance to look at his source code? Here is a ttlg link to a rather long post where the tool author, "Timeslip" is in a discussion. :-wavehttp://www.ttlg.com/FORUMS/showthread.php?t=117616 http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/191156.jpgCan the DirectX Tweak tool improve our Flt3 visual experience?http://www.techpowerup.com/downloads/247/mirrors.php...and here's a fella posted some data using the tool on a fps game called FEAR:http://www.ocworkbench.com/2006/articles/DXtweaker/JimB
  4. During the Sp3 build 2600 install got hang up for a good while. I barely had any control of the pc, but at least my mouse cursor would move. I brought up task manager (ctrl + alt + del). Near the bottom of the list was a new program running, "shmgrate.exe". I killed that process, and the Sp3 install continued.I did a google search of that process(got my trusty laptop running by my elbow) and got hits that it's either a process of Sp3, or a trojan.Got to the reboot option, and all went well. Loaded all the way into windows.Discoverd that about 20 minutes the desktop seems to lock up. Scanned with N360, Spybot, "MAM". All scans good. Ran Ccleaner. Scans were very hard to accomplish and took lots of patience. My pc wasn't really locked up, just running extremely slow. For a mouse click, I'd wait about 5 minutes to get a response. Starting the scan's took a long while.Reboot to safe mode. Rescanned. All reported good.Reboot to windows. Same thing after 20 minutes or so.Reboot to safe mode, and selected system restore point that Sp3 saved before it began its install.I haven't troubleshot anything to see if N360 or something was the cause of all this. Just wanted to share. Well, I did run a .vbs tool that checks AMD proc pc's that ensures it's ok to install Sp3 and it checked ok:https://msinfluentials.com/blogs/jesper/arc...ing-xp-sp3.aspxWell, hopefully everyone else has better luck.JimBWinXp Pro Sp2MSI K8T Neo-VAMD64 s754 3700+
  5. There's a fellow who has made a mod for another wonderful old Looking Glass product, the "Thief" series. He has somehow figured out a way to force support for higher resolutions, wide screen, 32 bit, Anisotropic and some other things. Hopefully-maybe our own Flt3 coding guru's would be kind enough to get with him and see if his methods can be adapted to the Flight Unlimited series. He also has the source code for his mod available for public download.http://timeslip.chorrol.com/index.htmlYou all take care,JimBoops: Mod name is ddfix. jab.
  6. Napis,I have an ATI based card, but maybe check your Vertical Sync and Refresh rate. To help my frame rates I have V.Sync set to "off" and Refresh Rate is "same as desktop". Those settings help with frame rates but can cause strange display's sometimes.Hello Hans,My mobo has an agp slot, so presently I'm running a Sapphire X1950Pro-512mb-agp. It's an ati based card. I purchased a BFG GeForce 6200oc-256mb-agp nvidia based card a long while ago to replace my v5500. I never cared for the BFG, screen was always to dark, even with using Powerstrip. So I then got a VisionTek Radeon X1600XT-256mb-agp. It rendered fog terribly in Thief 1 and 2. The Sapphire has the same fog error with the Thief series. The ATI cards also have the "lines-in-cockpit" with Flight Unlimited stock panels. You all take care,JimB

  10. She's a beaute Jon, :( Man I better pickup the pace on these textures.JimB
  11. I've been working on a top wing texture. The "bottom" that you suggest above would require a fella' to think in "mirror" image when he's texturing for the bottom wouldn't he?Here's a pre-lim.. http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/185645.jpg
  12. OK, Looking forward to it. In case my email address has drifted:jbuff61173atatatmsn.com or fastmail.fmJimB
  13. Wow,Your fee-lyin' on that aren't you?"one texture for each wing, with top and bottom textures in the same place"Here are 2 mockups I did for a top wing texture. This what you mean? The wing is actually a left side 256 x 89 crop from a line drawing. I put them together on a 512x256 then sized down to 256x128. The 2nd ones a "stretched to fit" for 128 height and may allow for more detail in the texture."legs". Gottcha'.JimBhttp://forums.avsim.net/user_files/185596.jpghttp://forums.avsim.net/user_files/185597.jpg
  14. Jimmy B's outrageous Dr1 list: :-shyWings:Top- TopTop- BottomMiddle- TopMiddle- BottomBottom- TopBottom- BottomAilerons and Elevators:Top LeftTop RightBottom LeftBottom RightStabs:Horizontal- Top and BottomVertical- Left and Right(The whole of this is the rudder on Dr1)Fuselage:Full length Top, Left, Right and BottomEngine Cowl unto itselfOuter Wing Braces can share their own.Inner Wing Braces can share their own.Gear Struts left and right can share.Wheels can shareLittle airfoil for wheels should have its ownWing Skids left and right can share.Tail skid its ownPilot- Is there a way to get more detail on him so he doesn't look like a brown wrinkled alien blob? A way to have a sitting head-torso-arms-legs?Import the cockpit for model file number 64 so theres a real "tub".JimB
  15. Thank you Jon,Whew, I had gotten to the point of adding the word "wack" to those texture names when I was adjusting the stripes. Each time it failed, I had this strong desire to wack my noggin against the monitor. Thank goodness; I can stop trying the stripes now and move on to a different design for those textures."The DR-1 should be fairly easy to export and re-edit. I could be tempted to add some wires..."As nice looking as our stock Dr1 is, I've learned its in need of texture re-mapping. Since I've started texturing on it and researching different historical paint schemes on the web, there are individudal parts I wish had their own textures. The wings(top, bottom), bottom fuselage(I haven't narrowed it down yet, but I think this gets it's coloring from the corners of the cowling, #45), and gear airfoil each need their own texture. The pilot could use some arms and "bump-outs" for nose and goggles. In-board braces, gear braces and the 3 skids I think share the same texture, #50. The outer wing struts I haven't looked into yet.It would be a mind bending project I imagine, and I suppose Flt3 couldn't handle that much detail anyway.Thank you again Jon,JimB
  16. Hi Folks,I've been trying to stripe the rear fuselage texture. When I do, the stripes mis-align where the left and right textures meet. I've tried to compensate by widening and narrowing both stripes, but each time I do, somehow the model "tweaks" the texture and makes the stripes mismatch again. This is on texture file numbers 35 and 36. Is there anything I can do to the texture to correct this, or is this being caused by the Flt3 3d model?JimBPS: Pardon the gun, gear, and pilot texture, I hadn't converted them yet. I was just getting the fuselage and wing texture corrected first. There is something unusual I've notice about the model with either the orig textures or new textures. When flying, I can see the ground right through the top center seam of the rear fuselage. Not part of these screen shots though.JimmyBhttp://forums.avsim.net/user_files/185543.jpghttp://forums.avsim.net/user_files/185544.jpg
  17. Hello and welcome to the forums.Actually Flt3 usually runs quite well on Win98. You said this began after you had added some files. If these are packages, a test to do is rename your "packages" folder to something else like "xxxxpackages". Then startup Flt Unlimited 3 and see if the problem has gone away. If Flt3 is ok, then you most likely have a bad package folder within the "packages" folder. ""I am wondering, why does my game kepp on crashing?it never crashed, then i downloaded a couple things, it was fine, downloaded a few more, and it started crashing every second flight."" Could you please tell us exactly what you have downloaded and installed. Also please let us know the sequence that they were installed. This way we can more directly assist in getting your Flt3 back-up and running again. Also, let us know at which loading sequence Flt3 is crashing on you. For example, is it happening during the "Loading AI #%".JimB
  18. Ah-ha!The last pic. Airborne object, longish, devoid of wings, no visible means of staying aloft. This is most cetainly evidence of alien beings from beyond the 10th dimentional universe. Cunning to disguise themselves as a steamer; but they didn't fool me.JimB
  19. Here ya' go guys, a whacky "hodge-podge". :-hah http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/185237.jpg
  20. Thank you Jon,I've been scouring around the web looking for authentic colors for the DR1's. Even written descriptions would have been nice. I attach hear a rear fuselage texture that I applied. It's original color was the Flt2/3 red. It's an experimental texture, as I was looking to get the raven in a blue based skin. There were some very colorful paint schemes for the DR1. It's a shame each of the Flt3 wings do not have their own texture. Here's the rear fusel in pantone(file 035 1971):http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/185230.jpgHere's a lt blue of the Top wing(file 044 1980, same as 046 1982):http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/185231.jpgAnd finally here's an experimental lozenge. This pattern, from what I've read, was not used on the Dr1. The closest would be the DR VII.Yep, the marking has definitely got to go; to pphhhat in my opine.http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/185234.jpgI have found the bizarre looking file 049 1985 controls the mid and lower wing colors overall and the bottom of all three! Also, the DR1 had a plywood panel on each side from the cowl to cockpit. Apparently this was to maintain uniformity with the curvature of the metal engine cowling. Elsewhere the fuselage and wing surfaces are fabric. So, a "seam line" will need added where the wood panel meets the fabric. And here's a fine example of a "blue" Dr1:Oops, I must've reached the attachment limit. It really is a nice concept print though. My thoughts on dried blood. Would that be more of a dark red? Maybe a dark-deep brick red?I always liked flying the Dr1. On take off and flt it performs as discribed by a pilot who had owned a replica(article on the web). Jittery, tipsy, sensitive to the least wind on taxi and take-off.When I fly it, I select "nice day" for weather, and IF I make it to the eor, brakes off, throttle up slow while pulling back on my stick and she'll shimmy, quiver and yaw her way up in the air. You all take care,JimB
  21. Hello and Welcome, http://smilies.sofrayt.com/fsc/bye.gifThere's a thread that might help you below. "I'm here, new system, HELP?"http://forums.avsim.net/dcboard.php?az=sho..._id=17065&page=Good luck,JimB
  22. Hi Jon,Yes, it is pay ware. It was $50.00us back in Aug 2007 when I purchased, and I just checked and this new version is the same. It was following a free upgrade to the new version that I saw the .e in his supported formats.Quake-MDL, Quake II-MD2 and Quake III-MD3 are in his supported format list.498 supported formats in 1 program. Thats why I purchased it. Thought it would be nice to have.I forgot to bring any Flt3 or Thief models I had made with me, so am unable to see how well his "e" conversion looks on a model I'm familiar with.I do wish it could save to various bin and e formats; whether Flt3, Thief or Jas. I remember that was a very frustrating process for me, using all those individual tools, then, upon placing with Fled, Dromed, or Jas Editor finding that it was to big or small or textures were "off". Mips were another thing and it'd be nice if support for that format, as well as gif, were also supported by a "all-in-one" tool. Hopefully the author of 3d OC is planning on it.Where is that wishing-well. :-hmmm JimB
  23. The developer has added the ability to open Looking Glass Studios "e" format.I tested on a Thief2 "e" file and worked ok. The tool doesn't appear to support gif. So, to see the model textured, I converted the gif to bmp, and edited the e-file to use bmp.I don't have any Flt3 e-files on my laptop, so I couldn't test.It cannot open Flt3 and Thief .bin files, or Flt3 .mipThe program cannot save to "e", or Flt3-bin/ Thief-bin.http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/183649.jpgJimB
  24. I don't have Vista, but I'm wondering if MS has a "Windows Application Compatibilty Tool Kit" like they did for WinXP? If they do, maybe the tool will help Flt3 install on Vista machies?JimBWell, I checked myself and it claims to be Vista compatible.http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details...&displaylang=en
