  1. I am afraid I made a mistake in writing this, I have been playing pc games since 1985 and never owned a console. Of course I would like to return to the days MS updated FS every three years, but I don't see anything new coming up.
  2. Pc gaming is on the brink of extinction, flight simming is a niche of pc gaming... most of us were born before 1970 and feel that 1990's nostalgia when flight sims were extremely popular..
  3. Good morningI want to share this with you folks since I don't think this is quite common. My 4year old system (mb P5Q SE/R, core duo e8400 3ghz, 4Gbyte ddr2 1066 OCZ, Radeon 8xxx card) started acting out one month ago : messages like " a problem has caused fsx to stop working" or even worse blue screen..I started suspecting the power supply which was the weakest component at that time , so I replaced it with a more powerful one, after a little while I started playing with L.A. Noire and things got worse, stutterings when things went right, most of the time I was unable to load the game at all.So I replaced the video card with a new mid range Nvidia model but the problems persisted. Then I noticed that old game that previously worked OK had problems too, so I thought of viruses and I reinstalled windows to no avail...I wasn't even able to install software or patches (I always had CRC errors), the only moment the pc was stable was when I surfed the web or worked with ms office.I blamed the motherdoard, maybe the voltage regulators were malfunctioning...then I tested the ram with memtest86 and... Bingo! My platinum series OCZ ram sticks had errors, one of the sticks was faulty even if the problem was not detected when I started the PC..so the point is don't trust the short post beep and test your memory thoroughly, you may have a bad surprise...I hope this helps..
  4. Yes the beauty of a "complete" flight sim software is that you can switch easily between fly by wire airliners and ultralights.
  5. Great post Mike! I wish MS would read it....
  6. And isn't it odd that someone likes this piece of software junk?
  7. Now this interview sounds really like damage control (after the crash has already happened) : they promise more without facts , they never show more than those pathetic 5 planes. And I would add that I'm fed up with those that are convinced flight has a holy mission to get youngster to like/be passionate about aviation: Microsoft doesn't care if new potential pilots are made, they care only about about MONEY . Or should we imply that roskstar games wants to turn kids into mobsters ?
  8. aviation had it's glamorous days in the 60's when being a pilot was cool both for the military (cool new planes and the space program) and the commercial ones (early jetliners and the major airlines), nowadays planes are easier to fly and mostly automated, the human element is still there but the job conditions are awful, and the military are going to rely more and more on drones.General aviation outside the US is plagued by high fuel costs and taxes. My personal experience pushed me to stop flying in 2001 when my daughter was born.So no surprise aviation enthusiast are 45+ like me, we are the ones who as kids assembled aircraft model kits and toyed with the idea of flying them, when flight simulation came along it was like being kids again.
  9. jay you are envisioning a highly sophisticated feature attached to a rush job that was due out in spring and will be out in 20 days...
  10. it's nice to know there are no grays... either you fly online in total chaos or you fly alone in perfect solitude...what a waste...
  11. I feel like flight is the son of the world economic crisis: a quick and "dirty" trick to cash some money. I don't see anything new or revolutionary coming.there are indeed opportunities for this game but unless a radical shift happens it will never replace the previous line of ms flighsim products, so like it or not FSX was the last of its breed.
  12. Excuse me but I am not the only one who got the message wrong, when a new product is launched it's feature and destination should be clearly stated, this was not the case, maybe it's me that's dumb but if they had written black on white on their website : no atc, semplified flight dynamics, no real weather, small flayable areas, no complex airplanes, can play with a xbox controller etc.. I would have approached this with a different mindset. I kept returning to their site for an entire year waiting and then...Microsoft has a communication problem ! or should we read between the lines?Said this I agree I am not going to cry this is the end of the world , we still have fsx, some of us will move to X-plane ,some will enjoy flight, I might even try it myself when it's released.have a nice WE.
  13. I mean they should apologize because from the beginning of the project they made us believe flight was a continuation of the MSfs franchise: Introducing “Microsoft Flight”Microsoft announces the development of “Microsoft Flight,” a new LIVE enabled Windows exclusive inspired by the best-selling Flight Simulator Franchise.Twenty-eight years after the debut of “Microsoft Flight Simulator 1.0,” Microsoft Game Studios announces the internal development of “Microsoft Flight.” “Microsoft Flight” will bring a new perspective to the long-standing genre, welcoming everyone, including long-time fans to experience the magic of flight. For continual updates over time and to view a teaser of the future of Flight on the Windows PC, visit.....Now we are all afraid that flight is not for the "serious" flight simmer...
  14. I would just add thatinstead of us thaninkg them it's MS who should make an apology to our comunity and admit that the business is no longer profitable so the switch to flight, if else now it's time to roll their pr man and reveal the plan for simming with "flight" (if there is one..).
