So, let me get this straight. According to boy genius there the way to a successful product is to ostracize a large portion of your existing customer base, gut the existing rich product eco-system, revert the product from open platform to proprietary locked title, erase 99% of the content and then give it away for free.Joshua is either the biggest idiot in the history of gaming software or an abject genius. thats funny. I remember when Balmer was asked about Firefox's TAB browsing he said something like 'who needs it' he wasnt impressed with it. IE now has it. Clearly Balmer's lack of vision has filtered down. This guy sounds the same way with the 'crazy' comment above.

What annoys me most is that chances are by the time my children are old enough to understand and appreciate flight simulation, it''ll require museum pieces to run the software and all the planes will be old.

No, X-Plane should be fantastic, allready starting to. Microsoft should be ashamed, we've invested so much into this company over the years, for them to turn their backs on us? It just makes me sick.

Reminds me of Phil Taylor and all the rubbish I read throughout that fiasco of a release.

Doesn't remind me of Phil Taylor at all! Although FSX had a rocky start, it is the best flight sim created in the history of computers so Phil and the ACES guys are true heros! They were strong supporters of the FS community, even after all the s h i t they took from forums like these. They were probably a bit too ambitious. FSX was too big of a jump from FS2004 and introduced too many new features.

Yeah I am glad that I ordered my X plane 10 some days ago.And world coverage at least with same quality that Hawaii is was completely impossible idea from the start anyway.Seems that what applied to some other games applied with Flight too. Often getting wider audience means very much dumbing down the game.

I told you guys there wouldn't be world coverage. All that DLC Holy Grail hope some are pushing around here is insane... What's going to be sad is the quality of the products that'll be offered from the DLC. You mark my word compared to what Simmarket and Flight1 offer for FSX/FS9 half that crap is going to be a joke...

1. I knew it wasn't going to happen when all we saw was Hawaii screenshots. Unlike you I've been around for the past 20+ years watching how Microsoft does things. They tried something like this with FS95 but back then it was about shutting out add-on content from third party developers. We won that battle. With FSX Aces was pushed to add more game elements like missions then they closed the studio down after Bill Gates left. It's a known fact or should I say reading Aces blogs and developer Blogs on how the tone at Redmond was getting over the years. Last but not least as hard as it was for Aces to model the whole world with FS 5.1 once it starts getting gutted you can rest assured the work it takes to put it back isn't going to happen especially with the original team disbanded.2. The tone of your post is what has me suspicious of some new people around here. Analyzing what was said and thought is all relative and go hand in hand. It's called reading between the lines especially after years of dealing with a company on various levels. I've been on many beta teams including Flight Simulator over the years so I know a little something about the trend in where things are headed.Either way the whole world is not going to happen and the content released for Flight is going to be substandard compared to what's out there for FSX and FS9. You can believe it or not, jump up and down, get mad at me, and call me everything under the sun because you have such high hopes for Flight. Get over it your on the loosing end and Redmond will prove this more than I could ever say... :(
