  1. Yes, I know the Rex WXR is not required in order to use the PMDGs. I was asking about another weather engine and if it would work in the PMDG. Ken.
  2. I really don't understand your question but I guess you're asking why don't I get the AS since it is required. Well, I've already spent money for the Rex weather engine plus the WXR and figured that they would work in all aircrafts, including the PMDG. The Rex WxR will work in all aircrafts, but you have to use it's own gauge for those that have not been implemented to work in the aircraft's own ND, such as the PMDG. It will work in the Maddog X own ND display because it has been implemented to work with it, and you don't have to use Rex's own gauge. I'll eventually get the AS when I get the money. Ken.
  3. No, I have not answered my own question and you have not answered my question. Saying "I'm afraid you answered your own question" does not answer the question I've asked. The fact is that newer weather engines have been developed and released since the PMDG 737NGX of years ago. Ken.
  4. Hi Pete, Thanks for clearing that up for me and now I have some better understating about it. There was one issue that was reported in the log and I found that issue in the aircraft.cfg file. The one I found had to do with duplication, but I don't understand the part about the key and outside of section. If I understand them, I can just fix it myself, bust as you said, it's not for the end user to correct. Last night, I flew the PMDG 737NGX and it gave an error report as well saying: Failed to load visual effect "fx_PMDG_NGX_navwhih". Even GSX is reporting errors. This seems to suggest that the developers are not verifying their contents entries. I don't know why the box was checked either, but as I said, I never checked that box because I never knew anything about it in the first place. My brother and I were discussing this and he said he had the same issue in version 4.2, and he told me to just uncheck that box. Will these content errors effect the sims performance, such as stuttering or taking longer to lead, even when the Content Error Reporting is turned off? Ken.
  5. Hi all, It says in the manual that Active Sky is required to make the radar work and display the weather on the ND. But will the Rex Wx Advantage Radar also work, or does it have to be Active Sky? Ken.
  6. I've read this regarding the Content Error Reporting but it does not discuss how to fix or correct the problem. It is too general and it does not elaborate on a lot of things, such as, what it is, how it works, or anything. Is the problem due to the developer of the addon or is it due to how the addon is installed? It's strange to me why this has NEVER come up in version 4.2 until I upgraded to version 4.3. The only explanation for this is that in version 4.2, Lockheed Martin never ticked the Content Error Reporting box by default and when they upgraded to version 4.3, they ticked that box, and therefore, I'm getting the errors. I've never ticked this box in neither version. All it says is that it's essential to have the Content Error Reporting turned on, and that it can be turned on in the Settings, and where it's logged. It stated that for the best results and most effective product, turn on the Content Error Reporting during development and fix anything that's reported. How you fix it is not discussed! Is that for the developer or is that for us sim pilots? It is not explaining a lot of things here in detail. This information DOES NOT tell us anything except to leave the Content Error Reporting turned on and fix whatever is reported in the log. It stated that every error or invalid implementation in content can slow down the overall program, and I've noticed that the sim is slower and takes too long to load. And it says it can cause correct implementations to fail. To the average simmer out here, or most of them, there is no understanding this because it's not laid out in layman terms. So, my question is that is this Content Error Reporting thing just for the developers and they are the one that have to fix the error reporting, or is this something that the simmer has to do? These things need to be explained in a lot more detail and in layman terms. If this is for the developer, then I have no need for it and I can just turn it off, because I'm tired of seeing this pop up every time I close the sim and I'm not getting any help with this. The programs, or addons, were installed correctly and there should have been NO errors what so ever. Or course, I did not allow my P3D sim to be installed in the default Program Folder, as that does nothing but create more issues. Ken.
  7. No, I did not ticked the Enable Content error reporting in the Options. It was apparently already ticked when it was installed. I immediately started getting these error reports just after installing some of my addons, which has never given me a problem in the past in the earlier version of 4.2. These problems did not start until I upgrade it to version 4.3. That's when the problems started. In version 4.2, I never had these problems, and I have the same addons installed in the same locations as before. It's better to leave the Enable error reporting checked. So, the source of the problem is not due to having this checked. Here's what the log says: [error.0] error=Key values exist outside of a section: File:C:\Lockheed Martin\Prepar3D v4\SimObjects\Airplanes\Carenado C152II\aircraft.cfg Key: [error.5] error=Key values exist outside of a section: File:C:\Lockheed Martin\Prepar3D v4\SimObjects\Airplanes\Carenado C172II N\aircraft.cfg Key: [error.53] error=Duplicate Section Name File: C:\Lockheed Martin\Prepar3D v4\SimObjects\Airplanes\Crosshairs_Plus\aircraft.cfg Section: direction_indicators [error.66] error=Failed to load visual effect "fx_PMDG_NGX_navwhih" These are the sources of getting the error report. They suggest "key values existing outside of a section," "duplicate section names," and "failed to load visual effects," which does not tell me anything. What do they mean by "key values existing outside of a section, duplicate section names, and failed to load visual effects? Regarding the other error, it says the api.dll caused the error. But why should that be because it was a fresh installed, and it always comes up AFTER I have already closed the program. The program closes just fine, but yet I get the error message that the program stopped working when it did not. I closed it. Ken.
  8. I don't understand why it is I keep getting this content error message every time I close P3D. As soon as I close the sim, I get this message: Content errors have been detected. See the log. A few seconds after I've closed the program, I get this message: Prepar 3D exe has stopped working Windows can check online for a solution to the problem 1. Check online for a solution and close the program 2. Close the program The program has not stopped working because I've already closed it, and I don't know why I'm getting this message in the first place. As a matter of fact, this problem started just after I installed the new updated version 4.3. Here's what the Problem Signature says: Problem Signature: Problem Event Name: APPCRASH Application Name: Prepar3D.exe Application Version: 4.3.29.25520 Application Timestamp: 5b2c3263 Fault Module Name: api.dll Fault Module Version: 4.3.29.25520 Fault Module Timestamp: 5b2c32fc Exception Code: c0000005 Exceotion Offset: 0000000000015594 Is this a problem with the P3D simulator or is that a Windows issue?
  9. I don't know if this is a compatibility issue or if it's with the P3D simulator. I'm running the latest version of the Prepar P3D version 4.3 and I'm using the Microsoft Force Feedback 2. I've always use the joystick with the Force Feedback turned off via the simulator and all boxes unchecked. When flying using FSX and with the force feedback turned off, there is no spring action and the joystick moves smoothly without any resistance as it should be. But when I fly using the P3D, there is this spring action with my joystick even though I have the force feedback turned off in the sim. Why is it I'm having the spring action in P3D even though I have the force feedback turned off? Ken Manning
  10. Hi, I wanted to be sure this product will do what I expect before I purchase the FS2Crew for the Maddog X. I have the FS2Crew Reboot for the PMDG 737NGX, and I'm using it without the voice control and only using button control to run through all of the events. Does the one for the Maddog X do the same? In other words, can I use the button control to run through all the events without having to use voice commands? The main things that irritate me about flying the Maddog, especially on take-off, is that I have to constantly change views, switch the auto-throttle on when the power is at 1.4 %, I believe it was, switch back, then while climbing, switch views again to switch on the autopilot, set the speed mode to climb, then go back to my main original view to find out that the airplane is not flying the correct profile. There is way too much having to switch views and having to carry out all the things that have to be carried out in a very short period of time, and most of these are normally carried out by the F.O. I'm hopping that the FS2Crew for the Maddog X will solve all of this. I'm suppose to concentrate on flying the airplane and not be switching views in order to carry out the job of the F.O. Ken Manning
  11. That's exactly where I tried to post, but that does not make any difference. Before I can post anything, I first have to register. But you cannot register without a product key. On the registration page under 'Additional Required Information (profile)', it says under the box: "To receive support and participate in these forums you must include your order # or license key (registered or trial) for the product(s) you are requesting support for. Support will NOT be given to users who do not provide a valid order # or license key. This information is visible only to staff/admins and is NOT public." When I skipped that box, it did not register me and prompted me to enter a license key. So it is required, but personally, I don't see the sense for this. I can understand if you're asking for support. So even if you're not asking for support and just want to participate in the forum, you still have to enter a license key when you register for the forum. It will not allow me to register unless I put a valid license key in this box. It does say "registered or trial," so I'll have to download a trial version and then register. But usually you don't get a license key until after you've purchased the product. Maybe it's some other text I put in such as "Trial." Ken.
  12. Hi Nick, Thanks for pointing out that EZ-Dok does not use physics and dynamics from any of the addons. The vibrations, or the shaking of the fuselage is jut one of the things I've liked about EZ-Dok. If I remember correctly, it depends on how hard you make you landings, which would be realistic. I like that, and I want that effect, not only in just smaller aircrafts, but also in larger ones, like the PMDG, as long as they don't mess with their physics, and you mentioned that EZ-Dok dose not use any of its physics from an addon. I want it to be realistic and the camera to shake based on how hard the aircraft lands. Since smaller aircrafts, like the Cessnas, do no use hydraulics in the landing gear as oppose to commercials planes that do use them, where the struts are compressed to absorb all that weight on landing, I wonder if EZ-Dok and Chaseplane take those physics into account. I've noticed that both EZ-Dok and Chaseplane put all of these added features where one can vary, or adjust the physical effects of the shakes, head movements, and other physical motions that would be unrealistic. But I don't go for all of that. I just want it to be realistic and have real world physics. Ken Manning
  13. Oh, so I guess you're saying that Active Sky Next is older and was released before Active Sky 2016. I posted here because my questions regarding the Active Sky are relative to the PMDG 737NGX. To use the forum link you posted, YOU MUST post your license key when you register. That means you have to purchase an Active Sky product before you can even register for the forum. Ken.
  14. Thanks Pete. If I get the one for FSX, it would be the Active Sky 2016? That's the only one I see for that platform. So, will that one place the radar image on the ND, or the aircraft that I'm flying equip with a radar? I think it comes with the WX radar, but I want my radar to show up on the aircraft's ND that I'm flying and not a pop-up radar gauge. Also, I've been hearing about this Active Sky Next. What is the difference between Active Sky 2016 and Active Sky Next, and is one better than the other? I also have P3Dv4, but it would cost about $95.00 or $100.00 to get both. Ken.
  15. I have a question regarding using the radar in the PMDG 737NGX. According to the manual, it states that Active Sky is required to make the radar images display weather, and I assume it would display on the ND. Will it also work using the Rex WX Advantage Radar? After installing the Rex WX Advantage Radar, I've noticed that it has it's own radar gauge and the weather is displayed on it instead of the ND in the PMDG NGX, which is what I prefer. But I don't know if the WX Advantage Radar works with the PMDG 737NGX in that way. But it has it's own gauge. At the time of release of the 737 NGX, the Rex WX Advantage Radar had not been released. So, I'm wondering if the Rex WX Advantage Radar will work, or display the radar images on the 737 ND as it should. If I were to get the Active Sky, would the radar images display on the 737 ND or would it have it's own gauge as the Rex WX Advantage Radar did? Ken Manning
  16. Hi I've been thinking about purchasing a camera tool, such as EZ-Doc or Chaseplane, but I was wondering which one would be the best product for FS. I've watch several videos, such as those put out by FroogleSim and others, that give their impressions on the products. In one video, it was suggested that EZ-Doc actually uses the flight dynamics of the aircraft addon and messes with the files in order to make their product work. I don't know if that's true but one thing for sure, I don't want an addon that messes with the files of another addon, such as the flight dynamics of the addon which claims accurate flight dynamics. That sort of turns me away from EZ-Doc, but to me from watching the videos regarding the two, EZ-Doc seems to be smoother and the Splash in EZ-Doc seems to be more realistic than in Chaseplane. And most of them prefer the Chaseplane over the EZ-Doc. I did happen to notice that the guy giving his impressions on the Chaseplane did not have a very good graphics card because everything seems so jerky, and I supposed that is the reason why it did not seem very smooth. Does Chaseplane have everything that EZ-Doc provides and for those of you who have both products, EZ-Doc version 2.0 and Chaseplane, which ones do you recommend? Ken Manning
  17. Yes, you're correct. It is under "World." Ken.
  18. I just purchased the P3D v4 and I just installed an addon scenery. It says to go to Options / Scenery Library and add the scenery. When I clicked on the Options button on the selection screen, there is NO Scenery Library there. I've also did this within the sim, selected Options from the menu, clicked on Add On, and there is nothing there. The installer is not the problem. I've read the manual and it does not discuss this or anything other than what to do, and I did exactly what it says. What is the problem? Ken. Manning
  19. HI, I see that everyone is having issues with activating the PMDG Legacy products, and it appears to me that this is in relation to the updated system that was implemented just last week or so. We were trying to install the PMDG MD-11 for FSX just last night, November 26, 2017, and this is the exact message we're getting, "Please contact PMDG Tech Support." Yes, the correct e-mail and password was entered! I went to the PMDG store where the MD-11 was purchased, and I don't see anywhere where you submit a support ticket. Out of all the replies posted here, not one in my opinion has answered the real question as to what's going on, but here's what I found. I found 2 articles posted in the knowledge base website that seems to relate to the topics posted here, and nothing has been posted here about it. It says they're working on a solution, sorry for the inconvenience. Here's are the articles: Legacy Product (pre 2009 releases) Activation System Offline On 13NOV17, we implemented a significant upgrade to our eCommerce system which modernized the encryption methods used by our internal systems. Shortly after this update we became aware of the fact that the older activation method employed by our legacy (Pre 2009 Publication Date) products was incompatible with the new levels of security. While we officially ended support for the last of these legacy products in January of 2015, we do feel it is important that you should be able to install the product and operate it if you have a legitimate license to do so. As such, we are dedicating development time to updating the activation method used by these older products in order to ensure customer access to them for years to come. In the mean time, we apologize for the inconvenience, but we promise to keep working on a solution. PMDG Support. Here's the 2nd article: Password Confirmation/Reset Email Not Received? Today we updated our eCommerce system, and with this update newer, enhanced privacy measures have been put into place. The next time you sign in, you may be asked to reset your password and an email confirmation will be sent to your registered email account in order to confirm the change. If you do not receive the email, we have a few recommendations for you to follow: Make certain to check the email that you registered as your PMDG eCommerce account email. This is the email to which the confirmation link will go. Check your junkmail/spam filter Exempt @precisionmanuals.com from your spam filter. If have trouble, please contact us here at support - but please try these recommendations first. Published: November 13 at 7:41 PM They don't say when they would have the problem fixed. So, It seems to me that since they've implemented the updated system, the old activation system no longer works and they're having to work on that solution. Does anyone know about how long that will be? Ken Manning
  20. We were trying to install the PMDG MD-11 on another computer and when the password is put in, a message says to contact support. That should not be required! Now why do we need to contact support when the correct password is used? Ken.
  21. Hi Shaun, Yes, I did move that file, KBHM_Terminal_Jetways.bgl to my desktop and it fixed the problem regarding the overlapping jetways when using the SODE. I was going to tell you that this file can be either moved or deleted and that would leave just the SODEs. But for those who preferred the default and static, I figured would have remove them so I never said anything about it and though I would wait until you fixed them. By the way, the file size I have is 1.51 KB. Is that correct? Yes, I agree with you. I would just wait until you have all the problems worked out and then compile it. Regarding the tower position, glide slope and LOC positions, If you want to refer to mine, I'll send it. I would like to send you photos or textures for the terminal because the colors are not quite correct. Let me know if you're interested. Ken.
  22. Hi Shaun, Yes, I tried that. I ran the No_Jetways_for_SODE.exe and the default jetways are still there. I noticed the mini installer but wasn't sure what it's purpose was because I did not see that explained in the manual. I tried it anyway but it had no effect. Hopefully, you get it worked out. Regarding the Tower View and the LOC distance from the transmitter on the threshold side of 24, which is for runway 6, will you be correct that? I have mine corrected now and when I zoom out, I can see out the window of the tower and of course, I can see where the console would be. Regarding the position of the LOC for runway 6, the only thing that is wrong is the distance from the transmitter, which was repositioned when runway 6/24 was extended in around 2006. As far as it lining you up on runway 6, it's correct. I'm not sure what you mean when you said, "let me know how you get on." Ken.
  23. Shaun, I've noticed that the Default jetways and SODE jetways are overlapping, and I only want just the SODE jetway to show in the sim. Is there a way to turn off the default jetways so that only the SODE jetway shows up in the sim without the overlapping? The only way I know to do this is to delete all the default jetways in ADE so that they won't show up in the sim. I also found other problems that I should tell you about. First of all, if you make an approach on runway 24 using the ILS, you'll find yourself landing, or touching down about 2,400 feet too far down the runway. I opened the airport file KBHM_ADEX_SS.BGL in ADE and found the problem. The problem was that the glideslope is in the wrong location. But there's a reason for that and here's what happened. Several years ago, runway 6 / 24 was only 10,000 feet, and at the time, this would be the correct location. Now that the runway Is 12,000 feet, the glideslope will need to be re-positioned. I also found that the LOC for runway 6 is in the wrong location from the transmitter. And finally, the tower position is in the wrong location causing the tower view not to be correct. I made all the corrections using a satellite image and saved it in a file in case you want to look at it. I'll not only set the correct position but also set the correct height for the tower view. Ken.
  24. Yes, that's where I downloaded mine. At first, I thought you go to the SXAD website, click on Support, and there would be an update button, but there was none. I went to SimMarket and the new installers was there, as you said. Ken.
