  1. I must say I'm finding all this scaremongering as regards activation, whether it's for XP, FSX (or, for that matter Vista since I doubt it'll be any different) to be over the top. Of all the reinstalls of XP I've had to do (around 12 or so) or FSX (up to five now), I've only ever had to call to reactivate over the phone once. Yes, once. They didn't bat an eyelid, either. Oh, and I've swapped out hardware way more than that.As for FSX, I've reinstalled it five times now and it's activated painlessly over the internet each time.
  2. Just reconfirming what most others have said in this thread: FSX is now functioning again after a reinstall of XP :D
  3. Well, wouldn't you just know... FSX crashed, rebooted, reload FSX and it tells me there's a product activation error. And guess what? I now have the installation error right at the end :D Looks like a reinstall of XP for me :)
  4. >Rick>>I think you may be mistaken....>>In the Nvidia control panel that comes with that driver>(91.47), there's a game profile for FS 2004 but I can't find>any reference to FSX.>>Toni.Actually, he's not mistaken. It's cunningly hidden under MS Flight Simulator X. Confused me a few days ago, too!Incidentally, it makes no difference whatsoever to my 7800GT SLI setup running FSX, sadly.
  5. >try pulling your logbook.bin file out. Then start FSX, should>start up just fine. This worked for me at the weekend. Is it a known issue?
  6. I'm currently using a SLI configuration with a pair of 7800GTs. Running at 1920x1200 which is the native resolution for my monitor, SLI makes no difference whatsoever (quite literally the only game I have where there is no difference) unless I assign it to antialiasing. For the record, I'm finally in a position where FSX is running well enough. The biggies for me were water being lowered to 2.x low and, yes, no autogen. And that's inspite of the tweaks people have come up with.Mind you, as soon as the new England and Wales photoscenery is released in the next couple of weeks the autogen won't matter to me anyway :DPersonally speaking, FSX is light years ahead of every other version of FS I've used (starting with 5.1). Sure, I'd love to run with full detail but right now I can't. Big deal. I couldn't run Mafia on full detail when I first bought that. Or Oblivion.
  7. Couldn't agree more, Rob. Being able to press the middle mouse button down to activate mouselook is essential and for exactly the reason you say: one hand on the yoke/joystick, the other on the mouse.Help us out, tdragger! :DBy the way, I've been more impressed with this release than any other since 5.1 so far.
  8. Picked my deluxe version up in PC World (ugh, well against my principles) using 'collect in store' for
  9. Hi allI've recently started using Windows XP x64. Getting along just fine with it.The only add-on I'm having a problem with is is EZ Landmark. Basically, it simply won't install under x64.I know it's only a simple program but it forms part of my staple diet of flying light over the UK photoscenery and is absolutely invaluable to me.Does anyone know of either a way to get it working or whether there's a different add-on, doing more or less the same job, available somewhere? Many thanks!
