  1. Perhaps refer the developers to www.RealNavData.com
  2. The mailbox was not full, but the forwarding server was, that explains why you were getting that message. It's a holiday in the US today, so nobody is around to answer calls. However, I just cleared out the forwarding server so your email should work.As for the RPM, there is nothing to "Fix" really, because at its core, there is nothing wrong with the software when we run it on our machines with the DA42. However, the DA42 from Eaglesoft has a FADEC gauge built into the configuration, and it tries to manipulate the prop, so if you have a joystick attached to your computer that includes and throttle, mixture and prop lever, try temporarily removing the prop control and see if the problem goes away. Also, if the problem does NOT go away, it's possible that your panel configuration in your DA42 did not load the FADEC gauge, so make sure that hasn't happened.
  3. Did you install the version for the DA42? It doesn't sound like you're actually running the Mindstar G1000, or certainly not the right version.Have you emailed us (Mindstar Aviation) for support yet???
  4. Thank you so much. That was exactly it. And Lefteris, if you are out there watching, many thanks for that blog entry, I had no clue what was going on.
  5. I have a customer who has the oddest FSX behavior I've ever seen. Somehow, after installing add-on software, FSX never prompts for whether the user should trust the add-on, or not. Yet, somehow, automatically, entries are getting put into the FSX.CFG [TRUSTED] section with a value of "-1" and "-2" (which I believe mean untrusted) even though the user was never prompted with the question, and never responded yes or no to the trust prompt.I edited his FSX.CFG file and removed all entries in the [Trusted] section, hoping this would somehow clear the problem after FSX was restarted. But mysteriously again, after re-starting FSX, it put entries for the gauges right back into the [trusted] section with the untrusted (negative value) settings, without ever prompting for whether to trust or not.I suspected that FSX itself was perhaps completely messed up, and although I am usually the last one on the planet to suggest a re-install of FSX, I went ahead and did this for the customer. I completely un-installed FSX, and then re-installed from the original DVD's. Then I applied SP1 and SP2 since his DVD's were RTM's. Upon starting FSX again after all that work, not even the stock gauges showed up. When I looked into FSX.CFG again this time, the [Trusted] section had been populated by entries for all the stock gauges, but all the values were set to -1 and -2 for all the stock gauges. I managed to get those stock gauges working again by editing FSX.CFG and changing the value on the stock gauges to be =2, and the stock gauges returned successfully. But I still have the same problem with anything other than stock gauges. The entires are automatically appearing in the [trusted] section with negative values, so are therefore flagged as untrusted, even though the user never answered the question in the first place.Has anybody ever seen this? Any ideas? I'm stumped, and I thought I knew stuff......
  6. I believe I read somewhere that if one item in a definition changes, the entire block of data is considered changed. If you want to change a single item, you need to create a definition that contains only that item.
  7. Mindstar Aviation is not affiliated with, or working with the F1 Mustang, so I'm not sure how this conversation turned in that direction. Flight1 has products, and Mindstar has products, but we don't do any integration with each other, and I don't think Jim or I ever led anybody to believe that.We also have said in the past that when we got the latest beta enhancements finalized and available to people, that we would begin some kind of turbine support. I'm not sure how that comment, nor any of my comments here, implied that "no end to beta" means "no turbine engine" version. That was never said anywhere here, nor on any forum, and it's absolutely not the case.
  8. The Mindstar G1000 is aircraft specific, but it's CONFIGURABLE to represent a number of specific aircraft. Right now, it represents a Cessna 172S, Cessna 182S, Cessna 182T, and a DA-40. There is also preliminary code in place to display a Diamond DA42 and a Cirrus Perspective, all in the same software. The Citation Mustang specific parts will be released in 2010, and will also be part of the same software. In other words, you don't have to buy different versions, it's all in the same version.
  9. Yes, it works in Vista and Windows 7 if you request the beta version -- I'm not sure how else to explain this. I thought I clarified up above earlier in this thread. Not sure where you're getting those dates on the forum, there are certainly more recent updates in the forum than 2007. I'm wondering if you're going to the right forum. Make sure you start at the Mindstar Aviation website: www.MindstarAviation.com
  10. I know I know, and some of that is our fault. We spend so much time working on the software that sometimes, we neglect updating our website. And.....for whatever reason, most of our support requests come in through email, not via the forum, so unfortunately there is no visible history of questions and answers except for those that post directly to the board. We mostly sell to real-world pilots, and to real-world full motion flight simulator vendors, and it seems they tend to use email while avoiding forums like the plague -- not sure why, and I'm sure it's not always that way, but that's been our experience. Unfortunately, we haven't figured out how to add about 10 hours to each day so we have more time to do everything (and 10 hours is probably still not enough LOL!)
  11. Just to be clear, there is no "struggle" at all. If people have Vista or Windows 7, they need to install the "beta" version of the Mindstar G1000. If they have Windows XP, they install the "retail" version. It's pretty much that simple. Also, even if you have XP, and you want to have the "absolute latest", you can install the beta version too. One important distinction is that in order to use the beta version, you must have already purchased the standard version. You don't have to INSTALL the standard version, you just have to purchase it, in order to gain access to the beta versions. There also seems to be a mix of topics in the original post here that I'd like to address. The standard retail version is compatible with FSX and has been for years now. The beta version, of course, is also compatible with FSX. But if your operating system is Vista or Windows 7, you have to use the beta version. And to be even clearer, the "compatibility" has nothing to do with the G1000 itself, it has to do with the version of InstallShield. Vista and Windows 7 impose new "rules" for software installation (all under the guise of 'better security') so we had to upgrade the version of InstallShield that we use in order to make the install work on the post-XP operating systems. And finally, we keep the "beta" version in that beta status because it's a never-ending development process. Garmin adds to the "real" G1000 almost monthly, and it's impossible to keep up. So for a long time, we have kept the latest version labeled as "beta" because, well, we never stop adding to it.
  12. Microsoft will actually be supporting ESP for 5 more years. In the computer world, that's an eternity. By then, either the economic conditions will change, or management at Microsoft will change, or someone else will pick up the product. Either way, I think ESP/FSX is going to end up like a Star Trek character, nobody stays dead for long! Also, for those interested in seeing the Mindstar unit in action, you can also look at:http://www.youtube.com/MindstarAviation
  13. It works with any airplane you want to put it in.Level of completion mentioned in this thread does not tell the whole story. The real G1000 is always changing, and exists in many different versions. Everything you need for flight is present in the Mindstar G1000, including many features not available in any other simulation.
  14. Ok, I have to reply now. I typically keep my mouth shut during these kinds of discussions, but pleeeeeeeeeeese, those of us who have been working in professional systems development for a couple of decades know full well that if you write programs efficiently using modern techniques, you can get BLAZING performance out of GDI+.
  15. The latest revision of the Mindstar G1000 has the RMI needles, DME and ADF all functioning.
  16. Or write gauges like the Mindstar G1000 where you enter the flight plan directly from the gauge!! :)
  17. I believe all the features you've mentioned above are available in the current beta version of the Mindstar G1000. There's also a new support & discusson forum on the Mindstar Aviation website. (As of today)
  18. Did you try this one yet? Works in FS2004 for now, and the installer is being updated to recognize FSX shortly too.www.MindstarAviation.com
  19. The Mindstar version has all the flight planning built in, especially in the new beta version, so the FS flight planner is not really necessary.
  20. The "official" Garmin simulator does not simulate flight dynamics, radio communications, weather, or viewing the PFD and MFD at the same time. Nor does it work at anything less than full screen at 1280x1024, and if you have a dual-processor or Hyper-Threading computer, it likely will only work for about 5 minutes at a time before systems start to fail. These are just a few of the reasons Mindstar built this G1000 specifically for MSFS, so that pilots would have a chance to actually "fly" the G1000, not just flip through the menus. If you have any specific questions about the G1000, please write us at the address listed on our website: www.MindstarAviation.comg1000sim@yahoo.com
  21. The payware one is at www.MindstarAviation.com
  22. Just FYI, the next update (in the next week or so) will include the following new items:Projected Position Vector ahead of MFD GPS airplane.Overall brightness control option in PFD menuReference Airspeed Markers on airspeed tapeWind Direction Vector on MFDTraffic Reporting Improvements for high-traffic areas
  23. Just thought I'd mention that the refresh rate on the MFD map is not poor due to performance, but rather, it's meant to simulate the refresh rate of the REAL G1000. (Although the flight plan's magenta line isn't supposed to be disappearing...so we'll look at that.) I actually believe that we programmed the moving map to refresh slightly FASTER than the real G1000 just to make it a little easier to fly.One of the first things you learn when flying the real G1000 is that it's easier to fly the CDI needle than it is to fly the magenta line. As soon as you think you have everything lined up, you realize that you were looking at an older frame of the map. The time delay is one of the main reasons the Garmin Pilot's Guides do not recommend using the map for "navigation", but rather, for "situational awareness".
  24. Don't confuse "topography" display with "terrain warning" display. In the context of G1000 terminology, "topography" (the TOPO button) is the graphical display of elevation, while "terrain" is where terrain turns red when your aircraft is too low to fly over it. It's understandably confusing because the term "terrain" changed meanings between the GNS530 and the G1000.Also, the relationship mentioned above is between Eaglesoft and Mindstar, but Eaglesoft has additonal proprietary relationships they wish to protect. Finally, regarding those GPS buttons -- they ARE active on the PFD, they are simply not activated yet on the MFD.
