  1. I blame the Dharma Initiative. But seriously, talk about over-dramatization by the trusty news media. It's not like this problem just suddenly popped up out of nowhere and now poor TPA is forced to close a runway for a whole week. Declination is always occurring and affects pretty much everywhere on earth and for the most part it is very predictable. Its just part of the cost of being an airport. They knew it was coming and they most likely scheduled the closure to coincide with other routine runway maintenance. A pain, sure. But the world will be here tomorrow. As for a patch for the FlyTampa scenery (which they have already released), they also patched the St. Marten scenery after that airport had to change runway designation from 9/27 to 10/28 a couple years ago for the same reason. So I applaud FlyTampa for their timely fixes for something that is mostly just cosmetic. Most designers won't do that.
  2. MSFS is still light years ahead of X plane. Despite the recent awful news, I am not even thinking about the need to switch to a new sim altogether. To do so would be ridiculous. MSFS will continue to suit my needs for many years to come.I will gladly welcome any developer who can even closely match the quality and functionality of MSFS, but that is still a long way off in my opinion.
  3. Depends on the aircraft. Some aircraft have fixed takeoff trim position for all takeoffs, and on others the takeoff trim varies on aircraft CG/weight and performance. On aircraft where it is the same for all takeoffs, you set the trim to that spot before takeoff (either with a trim wheel, electric trim, etc.) For aircraft with a fixed takeoff trim position, there should be a marking of some sort on the trim wheel or trim indicator to show you where this point is.For aircraft such as airliners, takeoff trim varies and is set based on takeoff conditions, and CG/weight. An FMC will usually tell you what the takeoff trim should be set to before takeoff or other performance charts should be used.
  4. UTX has a fix for acceleration at: http://www.simforums.com/forums/forum_posts.asp?TID=23111For me, it fixed the same problem you described.
  5. Installed the UTX update and all is well. Everything seems good, no problems with any of my other addon's (except AFX, which should be fixed tomorrow). I love the shadows in acceleration, they look much more realistic. The shadows in VC are cool, too. AI airplanes are white now when at a distance which looks much better than black. FPS increases are very slight (at least for me). The add-on planes are cool.In summary for what I needed to do for my add-ons once Acceleration was installed:AFX - Waiting for patch. In the mean time, make sure you remove the .dll listing from dll.xml (explained in other thread).UTX - Download and install update from: http://www.simforums.com/forums/forum_posts.asp?TID=23111ASX - No problems that I have experienced.X Graphics - Re-install the custom textures (just as you would install a theme...No biggie)Level D 767 (the only payware A/C I have installed on FSX right now) - No problems that I have seen. All my AI planes are fine, All my downloaded freeware planes are fine. I haven't seen any problems with any freeware add-on scenery (including mine).I did have to re-authorize all the add-on .dll's which is no big deal, it just prompts you when you first run it.
  6. Wow, that was fast. :) I will look for the UTX update. The problems I was having with UTX were all the roads they installed were missing, the water bodies were not showing up correctly and in some cases large slabs of land were showing up in the oceans. I will try installing the update and see how things go. Thanks!
  7. For me, I noticed UTX and AFX are having problems. AFX says they are already working on a fix.I have UTX disabled in my scenery library for now until there is a fix or if I find out I need to re-install it. I haven't noticed any problems with my other add-ons. I have ASX running with no problems that I can see, Level D 767 running with no problems that I can see, all my AI aircraft and other freeware aircraft are all okay from what I can tell. As for FPS, I can see a slight improvement in non-full screen mode. I don't notice any difference in full-screen mode but I am just beginning to expiriment. As for your problem of having to wait at Best Buy for someone to find it, I solved this problem by ordering at bestbuy.com and choosing to pick it up at the store. When I arrived, I went straight to the customer service desk and they had it for me in about three minutes. Incidently, they have a policy that if they don't have it to you within one minute of arriving to pick it up, you get $10 off. Since it took them three minutes, I only had to pay $19.99. :)So far, I am pleased. I will be even more so once I can get UTX working again.Specs:ASUS P5N32-E SLI motherboard nVidia 680iIntel E6700 Core 2 Duo OC to 3.2 Ghz2GB RAM DDR2 CorsairXFX nVidia 8800GTX video card (No OC)WD Raptor 150 GB x2 (300GB) RAID 0
  8. In addition to what has been said:1. Completely re-do the AI traffic behavior. Have them follow actual IFR routes and SID/STAR procedures. Seperate AI traffic better to prevent too many go-arounds. On the ground, have AI aircraft exit runways quicker. Allow users to tweak the way AI aircraft behave (such as what taxi routes they take, taxi speeds, etc.)2. Complete overhaul of the ATC.3. I know it has been mentioned, but we need real overcast skies. We shouldn't be able to see the ground above an overcast layer. Fog and Haze could be a lot better too.4. Is it just me or do most of the terminal buildings in FSX seem way too tall?I'm sure I'll think of more.
  9. Many thanks for all the kind words. It really does make the time and effort that went into the project worth it. I am really pleased people like it.The project started out as a personal fix to some landclass just to make it more realistic on my computer. But that led to more and more changes and additions which led to more and more, and you get the idea. Then I figured I'd share it with everyone else. Screen shots are available here if you are interested: http://picasaweb.google.com/jkudall/UtahCompleteFeel free to contact me if you have any questions or problems with the scenery.
  10. After the clamp mounts on my CH yoke broke yesterday (this is my second CH yoke and the second to break), I decided to order the Saitek yoke. My yoke/throttles shipped from Amazon today! I can't wait!
  11. Simware says Sep. 17 on their site. Amazon says "Ships in 2-4 weeks". I'm am guessing just because they don't know when they will get them in stock. I will be getting one. Looks like much better quality than the CH yoke, the throttles look nice too.I'm surprised CH hasn't introduced anything new in several years as far as yokes go. I don't think they'll be able to adequately compete.
  12. I tried what you suggested but I still get an airport clutter in FSX. I looked in "HiFiXGraphicsDataAirportsairport_clutterX Graphics Default" folder (I am assuming this is the backup folder you are talking about), and the texture in this folder still appears to be an airport clutter texture (I looked at it with Image Tool). Isn't the default FSX "cement" texture supposed to be plain cement without clutter?
