    FS2004?

Wow, maybe a bit unfair with the thread starter, no? Can you claim that you can run FSX perfectly? No FPS issues, no stability problems, no CTDs? Let's respect each one's choices. There are lots of FS9 users out there, for very different reasons. Not all of them are using Windows 95 and running 486s. Many also use FSX, when they wish to fly GA. Lots of them use FS9 for flying heavy aircraft under conditions that FSX is not able to cope with any Hardware solution that is available right now. The question is legitimate and could be answered in a more polite and straightforward way.
  2. Hi, Do you guys on 4,5 to 5 Ghz i7 2600k machines claiming good FPS use 100% AI ? How many traffic BGLs do you have in your Scenery folder? I find that most comments regarding smooth performance in FSX come from GA flyers. I'm still waiting for a HW setup to run FSX with my custom AI, flying to big hubs, with heavy weather conditions and complex addons. Right now I'm quite happy with FS9 under these conditions and I have a feeling that Ivy Bridge still won't be enough to provide a similar experience in FSX. I hope I'm wrong. Best Regards
  3. Totally agree. In a way, I think some commercial developers have been trying to force adoption of FSX as standard, as a way to optimize development costs. FSX is a great general aviation sim, but as a direct replacement for "heavy iron" FS9 users it's nonsense. I'm still waiting (6 years and 3 new PCs have passed) for a HW setup able to run FSX with 100% AI (custom), with complex addons and weather. A 5Ghz Sandy Bridge is not able to cope with it. FS9 gives us 40+ FPS under those conditions, and IMHO, a similar experience to FSX. I think it was Ed Cox who has mentioned the term FS 9.5... Many users have modded and develloped their FS setups to a point that FSX can't compete, or will only provide a 15 FPS experience. Look at all the virtual airlines, look at VATSIM usage model. No FS9 users??? Back to topic, I would love a FSHotSFX tool for modern FS9 users. I think none of us is asking for a FS9-only version, it could be dual sim. Do you guys know Kickstarter? http://www.kickstarter.com/ It could be a good way to ensure return on investment from a development point of view...
  4. If you mean vertical profiles, no, the Basic version does not cover it. (I think I've read somewhere that this feature is included in the Advanced version). That means the aircraft will not respond to ALT restrictions entered in the MCDU.You have to do it manually (or respond to ATC). In that case you can use OP CLIMB or DES, which work with appropriate Vertical speeds.
  5. For example, the IAE model FADEC is not 100% stable. I've now completed 3 successfull (and enjoyable) flights with the IAE version, but the difference in flight stability and energy management vs CFM is notorious. Also, the Tablet PC is a very nice idea, but the fuel loader and load editor don't work correctly for me. This is a non issue if you have TOPCAT (which I highly recommend, regardless of if you have Airsimmer)Speaking of product features, I miss a more complex MCDU (some of the pages are complete, which makes the product feel like it was "cut in half"), and most of all, I miss the rest of the Airbus family, as I don't see myself going back to Wilco for flying A319 or A321...Believe me, I was on your exact situation regarding this aircraft, I took the plunge and I'm really happy I did it. It's a huge step in realism regarding other Airbus sims. The worst that can happen is that you ask for a return via Flight 1.There are so many things that set it apart... variable engine startup time according to outside temperature, reduced brake action in case of overheat, a VC that will make you think what were you doing flying 2D panels up until now... a very good sound package (i got goose bumps the minute I started the BATs for the first time), and the actual feeling you're flying an Airbus (automatically or manually) instead of an oversized Cessna.
  6. I have to say I've been following Airsimmer's development for a few years now and finally decided to purchase it a couple of days ago.Being aware of several comments regarding CTD issues and other instability problems, I took note of the purchase date and set a reminder 30 days after so that I could activate Flight1 return process.I have now deleted that reminder.Airsimmer is far beyond anything available in the market and is without any doubt the best available Airbus FBW simulation to date, in FS9 or FSX.There are still some areas that need some polish, and others which I wish were more complex, but at it's current state, there's nothing comparable in the market. The experience is really immersive and in some moments you have a level of depth comparable to PMDG products.I just hope they follow through with their Advanced version, this product has matured and shows great potential.
  7. Been hoping for a addon like this for so long...It seems that this is not Vista compatible.. does anyone know a fix for this? Been trying to mess with forced Xp compatibility with no success..Cheers
  8. Bob, nHancer unblocks usage of several FSAA and AF modes that are not available through Nvidia's control panel. Some of these features have been implemented in the latest batch of drivers 158.18, but others aren't.For example, you can combine FSAA modes (multisampling and supersampling at the same time at different leves up to 16xS)The tool explains the settings you are choosing, offering a more straight-forward approach to the rather "cold feel" you get from nVidia's panel.I found this tool while trying to sort out the vSync problem in Vista (for my other relationship-killer : PES6!), it didn't solve that particular problem, but I was able to solve the game profile issues i was experiencing..Pedro
  9. Hello!I was experiencing similar problems with several Nvidia drivers on my 8800GTX. I've tried out a tool called nHancer, which is a new GUI to work on top on nVidia's control panel.I've created a new profile for FS9 there and everything works fine now! The tool also gives you the possibility to config several other graphic options not available in nVidia's standard control panel. You can try this tool here:http://www.nhancer.com/CheersPedro
