  1. I am considering trying out a larger LCD display in-lieu of my current Matrox 3H2G0 set up (3x22") monitors. I want to make sure I am not missing a wow factor. I have a couple of questions 1) Has anyone else made that transition in either direction - large screen to 3H2Go or 3H2Go to a single large screen? What were your impressions? Better, worse, different - ultimately what was your preference? 2) What is your recommendation on a good LCD LED that has quick response time. I don't want lag. The matrox has been great and is great but my performance does take a high running at 5040 x 1050 resolution. To help mitigate the impact, I am considering the single display. Thanks for your input- Benjamin

  4. Agreed - it's no problem now that I have the throttles unfeathered and locked + throttle position correct. They start up just fine now. The EGT cooling for restart works like a champ as well on the manual start mode (engine computers off). EGT drops like a rock. Thanks for the help guys.Bman.
  5. Yeah, the AOM is pretty brief in the description. If I understand it correctly:1) BATTs - ON2) START MASTER3) GEN 1 - ON4) START LEFTOnce Engine 1 is started, start Engine 2 - then turn on 2nd generator.See Chapter 8.5 Page 22 of the AOM.
  6. 1) Nailed it. I had two things wrong - I think the avionics were left on and they were drawing too many amps... and the biggest issues, I didn't have the GEN swtich on.2) I think you are right - when it's gone it's gone. No need to extinguish fire and wait for EGT to drop. ATC was just waiting and waiting...and wainting while ground crew was fanning the engine.3) Ok, I didn't see any approaches or STARs for any of them (don't think there are any stars for any of them...) it was more approaches I was looking for. It's no problem, the waypoints are in the database so I will just drop them in. Since the XLS isn't certified for approached any way, no biggie. Thanks for your quick response, Kenny.
  7. Evening all -Loving the JS41 - still the number 1 plane in my hangar at the moment. Just to make sure I am not missing the boat I have a few quick questions. Yes or no answer are fine - I will dig up the rest of the information.1) Is it possible to start the JS41 engines without ground air / power?2) Is it possible to restart an engine after flame out or is restart of FSX required to clear configuration. This is a rare instance but it happened last night when an inadvertent key press caused the throttles to advance while I was setting a EZCA camera. Burned up right at the gate. I waited until EGY dropped to sub 200c but it was still a no go.3) Missing navadat (latest cycle) for TPs at PASI / KORS / CYXT. Does anyone have the approaches at these airfield in their FMS? I thought I had them once before. If you do have them what navdata are you using?ThanksBenjamin Van Eps
  8. Yeah, I had a SSD (Samsung 256 GB) - awesome drive. It makes all my other machine seem ancient. I will add the preload again. As noted in the OP, FSInn was causing me grief with that active. We'll see how it goes. Thanks
  9. Hey all-I have a peculiar problem that I can't really pin down. I am running FSX nicely on my SB 2600k @ 4.6 / 570 GTX. The problem I have is when I start FSX and get to the free flight screen, when I go to change plane type / time or airport, after I click the desired plane/time I get a long pause - usually 1 minute or so and then all is back to normal. The plane is spinning and I am ready to Fly Now. Everything from that point forward is snappy and good.I can't figure out what is causing that pause. Sometimes it can be up to 2 minutes. Now, I do have a ton of planes all ORBX sceneries etc, but I can't imagine this would be the root of the problem unless it just takes that long to intialize my selection.I don't think DisableProLoad will do anything but I might give it a try. The problem with that is I get CTDs with that turned off + FSInn/FSCoPilot. Any one else experience this "pause" during free flight selections?Bman.
  10. Evening all-I am making a quick little cheat sheet for the larger planes that I fly most frequently. While pulling together my information, I came across something peculiar that I can't put my finger on for sure. The fuel burn is noted as 1200 lbs (first hour) and 1000 lbs for each additional hour.I see the max fuel is 5818 lbs (873 us gal max * 6.6 lbs per gal of kerosene +/- = 5762 lbs)That's pretty close. So 5818 / 1200 = 4.84 hours of flight time.Cruise max at 250 knts (VMo) * 4.84 = 1210 nm rangeEverything I find on line says the max range = 774 +/- miles.I assume that the range is based on a full occupant load? I don't really know how the parameters are set up to determin that range. Taking the Max ZFW of 21,400 - 24,000 MTOW = 2600 lbs left for fuel = 2.4 hours or roughly 250nm * 2.4 = 600nm.So it seems likely that the there is some loading factor, say 96% used to calculate the overall range it puts me right at the 800nm mark. So, the short question, is the Range determined under the assumption of a fully loaded MTOW (including Max ZFW) plane?Thanks-Benjamin
  11. Ah - I am looking for the same thing. Performance tables for t/o lenghts. It seems I am always trying to depart / land from regional type airfields and it's always a question of whether or not I will make it either coming or going.I hope to find some charts. I have been looking. Benjamin.
  12. How easy is it to find perfornace files for it? I noticed there isn't one for the ERJ-135.
  13. Yeah, I have checked out that aerotexas. Quick and easy.Is that calculator taking into consideration any winds aloft and ISA DEV or is it assuming direct and 0 wind? Also, what altitude is it assuming cruise to be at?I am comparing the output date from FltPlan. They are off by only 200#sThanks guys.
  14. Afternoon all- I am mixing in a bit of communter flying in with my GA / Bush flying. Specifically I am hitting the JS4100 and ERJv2 pretty hard the past couple of weeks. What I find I am missing is a solid fuel planner that will take into account loading, plan, APU time, taxi time, hold time etc.I know I can cheat and just use the FMC to calc require fuel then adjust fuel accoringly after I see the destination full amounts. I don't really want to that but it might just have to do. I have a killer 767 fuel planner that have some what set the bar but i am looking for anything that will give me a good load sheet for FSX flying.Any suggestions out there?Thanks-Benjamin
  15. Afternoon all- Question 1) I am having a discussion with a fellow pilot about the "correct" location for engine start. As the J41 manual states " The proper ground start position for the power levers is found by moving the levers rearward until the green reverse captions illuminate, and then moving them forward to the point where the reverse captions extinguish". However, if I go precisely that, I get "Check throttle position". If I move my power levers to detent position on my Saitek, that's the correct position for FS2Crew - which is just about the same location as where the reverse lights kick off. So, the question is, which is the true correct position? Is this a function of the Saitek lever detent not being in the precise location as the true ground start position of the JS41? Question 2) Preflight brief - I always get "Are you sure about that ?!?" - does this mean that I have missed something or is that just the default call for this checklist item? I get this for Preflight Brief and Clearance Brief... It should be noted that this is starting the FS2Crew without the preflight stuff (starting at Turn Check). Maybe that's why the FO questions. Question 3) Trims = Green and "32" .... what is the 32? The AOM for the JS41 is incorrectly written I believe. It has the same comments as the flaps. Thanks guys - Benjamin.
  16. Thanks Bryan. I am using J41 Voice Commander Edition 1.02 + = FO Flow * = ? I will double check the manual - there is absolutely no doubt I am missing step(s). I am new to both the J41 and FS2Crew. I am get much more familiar with the plane so the FS2 is getting far more fluid than when I first installed it. Thanks
  17. Ok... I have a ridiculous question. Look at the main panel and looking at the checklist currently in place, what is the different between yellow and white checklists? Why I can't track that down, I am not sure. I see "+" = FO flow underway... but can't figure yellow vs. white. Ok, I have two questions - if the checklist doesn't advance, does that mean I am missing a step? I was stuck on "clean up" (yellow).. Thanks Benjamin.
  18. Looking forward to a semi-manual. I poked around last night on this plane - very nice. I am not sure what NAV1/NAV2 modes versus NAV mean. If you are on the VLOC CDI mode on the GPS and flying by NAV control A/P, what is NAV1/NAV2 button doing (upper right)? Is VLOC mode equivalent to the "APR" mode? How's that manual coming along Kurt? :)
  19. Richie - Thanks for the response. I wondered if that was the case since I didn't see an "+" but I though - surely not.I mean, wouldn't you check the ice protection system before every flight? I guess not, eh? EHSI - I'll be. Kind of a peculiar place to put that... interesting. I wonder if it's really like that in the r/w. Thanks again
  20. I have a couple of easy questions 1) on the J41 checklist - what does the little airplane icon mean next to some of the checklist items? First flight of the day? I didn't see anywhere specifically where that was indicated. 2) Is there a zoom / scale knob for the EHSI ? Thanks...easy ones...
  21. Excellent - I will give it a try tonight. Thank Bryan. Benjamin.
  22. Hey there - I just couldn't pass up another FS2Crew for my 767. A quick question - I am modifying my panel.cfg to work with my 3H2Go. What is changed window or gauge that is changed that adds the hotspot to bring up the Main Panel? Instead of completely modifying the new panel.cfg, I want to copy over the new FS2Crew [windows] and retain all of the placement and scale of all of the other windows. However, the hotspot on the vertical speed indicator is lost when I do that. Everything work fine - I just don't have the hot spot if I go about it this way. All else fails, I will add the modifies in, however, it would be much easier to add the hotspot to the existing panel.cfg + new FS2crew windows. Thanks. Benjamin. ...wait... I think I found it... gauge32=FS2Crew2010\Versions\LDS767\Gauges\FS2CrewLDS767!FS2Crew_Icon, 556, 406, 136 Is that all?
  23. Great! I read the same threads on repair and how it would repair everything but the simconnect folders. I grew leery of trying that out right away since I read about people having a hard time getting the SxS folders to come back even after they did the repair causing other issues to occur - even so far as having to do a fresh OS install (...say what?! That's crazy talk). Regardless, I have no doubt this is/was a simconnect issue. Why mine was solved by cleaning the .xml versus new .dlls - I don't know. Could have been just some confusion between what my simconnect.dll was thinking and what the .xml was showing after I did a checkpoint restore a few days prior. Nice work.
  24. Evro - I managed to get the shared cockpit working again. I am not exactly sure what corrected the situation but we are back up and running. Some of the items I checked / updated and verified: exe.xml file - Make sure that you don't have any conflicting driver information. I have been running SPAD but recently I had to reinstall saitek drivers for an unrelated issued. I never went back and disabled (or removed) the saitek drivers from loading in the exe.xml file. I also reinstalled SPAD drivers just to make sure all was well. I removed CumulusX and WinchX from loading by default setting <disable>true</disable>. I don't think that was related either but it took a few pieces out of the puzzle. simconnect.xml - I changed my <maxclients>64</maxclients>. It was on 10... I changed it back to 64. I also removed the <scope>local</scope> segment since I already had a global scope defined with IPv4. Not sure this made a difference either - I am just noting some of the things I tried. So there you have it. I didn't reinstall anything or repair anything. I router / port / modem fundamentals listed in previous post and the changes you see above. I think in the end it was related to conflicting driver information that was loading up (SaiPanels.exe) when all the while I was trying to use SPAD. I hope this helps you in some form. Good luck. Benjamin
