  1. Does anyone know what is happening with the release of Tacpack for the Phantom?
  2. Hello all Went back to my Triple 7 today after some time away: bloody hell that is a beautiful model! Well, I mention this because I notce that, apart from anything else, I get good performance on my rig despite this being quite obviously an extremely sophisticated and complex model. Forgive me, then, if the following question is a stupid one and incapable of being answered at this stage but I have no understanding of the technicalities of virtual modelling so please put it down to my ignorance. My question is: do you envisage the performance of the 747 version to 2 to be around the same, worse/better than the triple 7 using the latter as a benchmark? Thanks Neil
  3. Hi Sorry if this is obvious and I just keep missing it, but can anyone tell me where the Avionics master switch is? Thanks Neil
  4. Dear all My three year update time is here, and I have gone and ordered the following: Intel Core i7-4770 -- [7RPX5N] 1 SR 8GB Dual Channel DDR3 at 1600Mhz 1 SR 1TB (64MB Cache) 7200 RPM SATA 6Gb/s 1 SR NVIDIA GeForce GTX 760 with 1.5G GDDR5 1 SR Operating System : Windows 8 64bit, English Now, the keen eyed amongst you will have noticed the graphics card is good, but not spectacular. 3 years ago I got a rig with a GTX 480, the bees knees at the time, but not for the first time discovered that spending out on such things makes not as much difference to CPU intensive flight sims as justified the expense. However, the news seems to be that P3D V2 transfers more effort to the card. That's worrying me now after spending out. What does the community think? How do you think my new rig will run it? Thanks all Neil
  5. Thanks for the recommendation everyone. I bought the 310 and love it. But since n4gix has mentioned the issue can I take the discussion in another direction. With the free radio version I wanted to put my RXP stuff in there. I managed it in the end, the RXP 530 and 430, but only because of the work of community. I didn't know what I was doing and got there in the end by looking at the panel configurations worked out by various community members. My question is, why couldn't I use the RXP config tool? Sorry if this is naive and everyone already knows why but in my naivety I thought that that was what the tool was for, to place the avionics units in any aircraft. Also..........and I know you said 'no promises'........but the prospect of a version 2 is tantalising. I am pretty sure Id be up for it. Thanks again all Neil
  6. Thanks guys
  7. Hello all Felt I needed some retail therapy and fancy the C310. I like realism and detail and willing to pay a bit extra if necessary. Just wondered what you guys who on the C310 think of it as it is one of the older planes on the Milviz site now. Does it hold up against the latest titles and if not is there any other twin people would recommend (I have the Realair offerings and they are brill). Thanks in anticipation Neil
  8. Thanks guys, food for thought. BTW, I see my topic is in twice. I thought this first post had failed because I had connection problems so did it again. Sorry moderator!
  9. I wonder if you guys can tell me how you think this 777 may run on my rig given my specs. Is it worth spending nearly 50 quid if my rig is going to run it like a slide show. Thanks Neil
  10. Dear all The heading more or less speaks for itself, just wondering if you guys can advise me. I've flight simming too long to spend nearly 60 quid on something, beautiful as it seems, that is going to run like a slide show. I've been there before too many times. I can't afford to upgrade, I'm a vicar and the Church of England feels its kudos will be too undermined if it materially over endowed us - my rig was the dogs balls when I bought it but time has seen it superseded many times and PMDG plainly considers that my vintage is now too creaking to get the most out of their designs. Anyway, how is everybody finding things with the 777 and is it worth me spending that kind of cash given the rig I have. I will appreciate all your views. Thanks in advance Neil
  11. Thanks Ryan, Have received the necessary this morning and J41 up and running. I have no idea what has happened either. All I can say is that Ithought I had gone through the normal processes (which I have done before on a number of occasions without the slightest problem and answered - mostly by yourself - very quickly). One connected matter perhaps; I have had a problem where Simskunk kept trying to reach me without success and I had to resort to the website there as well. Not quite the same thing but odd nevertheless. Anyway, all sorted now, thanks again Neil
  12. Ah, that is interesting. Having visited the support desk apparently I have submitted no tickets?? Beginning to doubt my sanity now. Maybe I've done something wrong?? Anyway, if Ryan is out there, I am: Neil Gardner, long term customer [email protected] Please help, just want to fly my J41
  13. No, have looked in spam and junk and all that is there is the usual array of medications offering to keep a middle aged man's erection going longer...Hmmm, what have they heard? Neil
  14. I have made some changes to E mail settings recently, and having checked junk mail just discovered that there is absolutely nothing in there. Since this is most unlikely perhaps everything is being junked straight away - will check settings. Thanks Neil
  15. I imagine things are a little pressured right now, but I'm talking about over three weeks and its just not like them
  16. I have purchased an extended download on the J41 and understood that I had to send a ticket to receive an validation number. I have sent two tickets but have not received a reply. Since PMDG is normally very good at answering promptly I can only think something has gone wrong. I could think of no other way of making contact than through the forum. Hope someone can help. Thank you Neil Gardner
  17. It seems from reading the posts that most people don't have a problem combining the PMDG 737 with Vox. Unfortunately I do and I was just wondering whether anyone can shed light on this. I start off ok but pretty soon find my FPS down to around 10-14, whereas as without Vox it is around 30. I have error messages telling me to reduce traffic and I do but the result is the same. I read that someone found the lights showing the route to the runway can be a problem. Does anyone else have this problem, and can you tell me what you did about it? Thanks NeilG
  18. Thanks for the reply, In terms of scenery I have recently installed my Eng and Wales, Gen x VFR scenery again, as well as one or two FTX areas including NZ. I never run PMDG airdraft with these, though. I have installed the Bronco, A2A Mustang and P47 and, the most likely possible culprit I reckon, Accu-Feel. I wonder if this latter could constitiute a problem though I must say it doesn;t seem to be a prob elsewhere. Neil
  19. Hello all I don't know if anyone can shed some light on this but when I first bought the NGX, back when it first came out, I was amazed at how FPS freindly it was, especially given the sophistication of the thing. It seeemd to me that PMDG was really getting a handle on the ability to optimise where back in the days of the 747 release anything but the most powerful machine on modest settings would struggle to run this complex sim. I wondered about the service packs esp 1c but from what I read that is not supposed to cause performance probelms. The fact is that I pulll out of KLAX now struggling to get above 15 FPS with Autogen etc set on Normal. Well, even the old 747 did better than that so not sure what has happened. My rig is getting on a little but not that much: CPU 17 980 O/C to 3.8 GTX 480 6 G RAM DDR3 Hybrid solid state and HD drives. Would appreciate any helpful suggestions. Thanks Neil G
  20. I've just started with Flight and there is a heck of a lot that I like about it.I am a long term FSX user with far too many add-ons than is good for my bank account, and I am picky about realism - but as we all know there is a debate about realism actually amounts to. Anyway, I've been trying to find a developers forum, ie, a forum in which develpoers talk to customers etc, but can't and I am wondering what they are going to do with the project. There seems to be a fair consensus that there are things that are great and things that coudl be done much better. Forgive me if people have already discussed this but have the developers said whether they are going to do things like improve clouds, add ATC and so on? I know they have talked about an alaska Add-on - looking forward to that, but are they 'going for the world' in the end? Thanks all NeilG
  21. Dear all Please excuse me if this seems like a stupid querstion, but I'm a bit of a novice when it comes to the net and its various quirks and goings on. I'm just curious, why does anyone do this sort of thing. Is it commercial rivalry? Is it just plain straight forward malicious vandelism? There are good (if immoral) reasons for hacking into data bases etc, there is something to gain. But what does anyone gain from these sort of attacks except notoriety - perhaps it is indeed some sad, neurotic desire to be infamous. Again forgive me if this is obvious to everyone but me. Neil G
  22. Hmm, I think the reference to relativity plainly reflects an awareness of post-ontotheological abstentions from notions of temporality trading on crude metaphyical underpinnings or absolutes encompassed in the notion of eternal presence, in favour of a concrete, existentially resonant temporality, i.e. lived time, in which the expereince of awaiting the appearance of the 'longed for', ie, the NGX, might otherwise have become theoretically neglected in bourgoies modernist milieu, and petrified under conditions of capitalist propensities toward reification. O dear God I'm going a bit strange. Neil G
