  1. Do you think it's not worth me upgrading then? I use Adobe Suite so, not sure how my processor is fairing after 5 years of use? But either way, I would like to extend my RIG 5 years (the case works fine, just needs a good dusting down). If I was to get the newest and best CPU, would the water cooling Corsair H115i still work and is my PSU still valid if I went for the latest and best of the best? I ideally want to do 4K x2 monitors for Adobe Premiere Pro and MSFS/P3D V5/V6 or whatever sim suits me best end of 2024'.
  2. All, My PC is roughly built in early 2018 with the upgrade of x2 NVME in the last two years (Bottlenecked by my CPU/Mobo). My current specs: I am wondering if it would be easy to transition to a new Mobo and CPU setup, presumably all my parts should work well? What else in the above would I have to change. Just hoping I could reuse the case, and some of the non-redundant parts that I have. I also recently upgraded from Windows 10 to Windows 11. Changing Mobo should be okay for windows or would I have to re-purchase a new license key, or would the NVME be fine on a new mobo? Looking at running MSFS (FSL whenever it's out) and using Adobe Premiere Pro for my YouTube channel.
  3. Hey All, I am looking to upgrade my PC, specs below. However, It's only 3 years old - so I don't feel the need to upgrade anything other than the SSDs (2012 - which are some 8 years old now) Has anyone got any experience running these on a PCIE 3.0? The 970 Pro's are £70 more expensive each and I need 2 x 1TB (One for OS and Adobe Suite & the other for P3D/FS2020) https://www.amazon.co.uk/Samsung-7-000-Internes-Solid-MZ-V8P1T0BW/dp/B08GS7748F Obviously when there's a Mobo/Processor out on Intel that does PCIE4 - It'll be a quick upgrade.
  4. Hi All, I've had some boot issues with my PC, that I built some 5 years ago for FSX. It was time for an upgrade anyway, so here's my research. What works best and what doesn't for you guys? New Parts Corsair Obsidian 750D Airflow Full Tower case - Black - £129.95 ROG Maximus X Hero (Wi-Fi) Intel Z370 (socket 1151 (DDR4 ATX) - £269.99 Intel Core i7-8700K 3.7GHZ (Coffee Lake) Socket LGA1151 Processor - £379.99 Corsair Hydro Series H115i Extreme Performance Liquid CPU cooler - 280mm - £134.99 GeForce GTX 1080Ti ROG Strix OC 11264MB GDDR5X - £799.99 Trident Z RGB 32GB (4x8GB) DDR4 RAM - £548.99 Microsoft Windows 10 64-Bit - £94.99 Corsair RM Series RM750X 80+ Gold 750W Modular Power Supply - £127.99 Existing items I'll transfer across once clean and written over 2 x Kingston 240GB HyperX 3K SSD 1 x 2TB WD external hard drive 1 x Samsung SH-222BB 22x DVD±RW DL & RAM SATA Optical Drive - OEM Black The above prices are from Overclockers as a rough estimate. I'll be going down the finance route as I don't want to blow all my savings. So I am just looking at financing 24-36 months to cover me. Would anyone recommend an additional SSD or an M2 for the OS. I currently have one SSD for my OS, one for FSX and the external for my videos and other stuff. So going for one more wouldn't hurt, if it makes running quicker? I am not sure on the RAM or Mobo, but the rest of the parts seem pretty good? Regards,
  5. If I click my mouse on boot up, it seems to work first time. I'll try it again after a few hours shutdown. Sounds odd right?
  6. I doubt it, I haven't checked that. It's really strange. I have to switch the PC off and re-boot to get it to boot. It boots and operates normally.
  7. Hi All, I've had this problem the last few months. When I boot my PC, it powers up but the motherboard boot screen that normally comes up (ASUS) doesn't come on and the screen switches between Analogue and HDMI. I switch off from the main power button and it finally boots. Any ideas?
  8. So that'll be new technology and a lot more costly? I was just having a read and it's due out in 07/2017? I'm not sure to wait or not and build a PC that will last 5-7 years. I was also suggested a 1070, but what model would work well for P3D v4?
  9. Hi Westman, Ideally would like to do 4 ram sticks at 8GB each and at 4266MHz. So 16GB then I'll upgrade my space to 32GB later this year.
  10. I have a LAN cable, so it's not the be-all end it all. Does this board only take 2 x 8GB sticks? (I see it says up to 32GB) but G.Skill comes in 2 x 8GB or 4 x 8GB right?
  11. Hi All, I am looking at upgrading my PC, but using a few parts and upgrading the rest so I can transition to P3D v4 with no issues. Current Parts - Re-Use - Upgrade Parts - A few questions regarding this upgrade! Will the ANTEC 902 V3 Gaming case be okay with these parts? What motherboard can take 4266Mhz DDR4? I am struggling to find one, that also includes WiFi. Would anyone recommend any other GTX 1080Ti? Will the AX750 handle the GTX 1080Ti? Any thoughts, please let me know!
  12. Yes 64-bit platform. If LM release P3D in 64-bit, presumably v4.0 sometime next year, then I'll purchase it. The problem for me is, it's a substantial graphics upgrade and that's it, it doesn't do anything significant over what my FSX can do on my gaming PC, and I don't mean that anally, because I get many people can't run FSX well; but I have zero issues. I get that it comes up time and time again, but surely a modern sim the minimum requirements should be 64-bit. I know it will work only on Windows 10, and the latest version of Direct X. So many people will have to leave FSX all together to run the new sim. I doubt they will go down that route. "The aim is to create a deeply immersive project that will allow both simmers and gamers to enjoy an in-depth flight simulation experience that feels realistic, looks fantastic and really challenges the user." - presumably they will look to cater for both casual gamers and hardcore simmers. Can this be done easily? I.e A world like Flight but a World like FSX if need be.
  13. Krazyk, the rumour mill is in full speculation mode across the board, as you say if they go down the route of DLC and similar territory to Microsoft Flight they won't win the majority of the serious and avid gamers that play flight sim. I wonder if Microsoft are pushing Dovetail for this? I am hoping not, and that Microsoft have learnt there lessons with Flight and Dovetail with FSX:SE. They are expected to release details next year, presumably for an end of year release. I've heard that LM won't move P3D to 64gb anytime soon, unless they totally recreate the 32bit world into 64bit? The below from Dovetail themselves is promising. See more at: http://www.dovetailgames.com/news/2015/aug/4/dovetail-games-looks-to-the-future-collaborating-with-microsoft#sthash.ttXkBRz1.dpuf
  14. I wonder why P3D hasn't done this, or is it simply the code is FSX in logic, that being 32-bit architecture and can't be easily changed to 64-bit?
  15. I am not sure if this is the correct place to put this topic, but what's the thoughts of all on the upcoming development? Set for release in 2016. I am hoping we go 64Gb as that's what's needed to get the most of a Simulator. You just have to look at there new Train Simulator to wonder what sort of output we can expect.
  16. Whilst not related to a VAS issue. I've now got the following issues. I've gone from 20-24FPS whilst taxing on the ground at most airports (Which is dooable) to 10fps!! This started happening around about the time I installed ASN, on a trial basis. I didn't continue the trial due to the low FPS I was getting. I continue to use ASE, as I thought that would help. But unfortunately not, it seems that maybe I need to remove ASE from my system? or something? I've flown in the Concorde X from Flight Sim Labs recently and get normal FPS in both Cockpit and VC mode. Having just started a flight. In Cockpit mode the performance is normal, and in external. Something in the PMDG VC since I've installed ASE or something? is giving me seriously low FPS at the gate and taxing. Any assistance required please
  17. Hello, Thanks all for your help so far. I'll run without Active Sky, I very much doubt this is the cause as I've had it years and never had any issues. Obviously I am not sure what's caused the VAS leak, but I'll have a look into running and offline flight quickly. VAS 2.4GB at startup. I missed this part and jumped ahead as typing, let's see if this works anyway because if it is the old bug, then we know where the issue likely lies. 2.45GB after preparing for the flight and loading the route and DEP/ARR. VAS dropped to 2.5 from 2.6 (On departure) once I got airbourne. So so far it's looking good, when I am next available to test flight. I'll put Active Sky on. See if that's the route cause. Now 2.49 VAS as I leave London.
  18. Hello, I've just done the following. Thanks for all your help so far. Removed PMDG 777's packages, Removed everything in the PMDG folder. Did a CCleaner of the Registry Re-Installed PMDG 777-200 Re-Installed PMDG 777-300 Repaired Liveries in folder Re-Installed latest Navigraph AIRAC Active Sky Evo loaded, FSX loaded, PMDG 777-300 loaded on stand 553 at Heathrow. Engine's shut down (I would prefer it was a cold and dark start all the time IMHO - but haven't quite read how to do this?) - It's raining but VAS is stabled at 2.5GB. Will leave FSX for 1 hour, then enter all the data, then leave it for a few hours and see what happens. Since typing this VAS has dropped. VAS - 0940z @ 2.5GB VAS - 0944z @ 2.480GB VAS - 1119z @ 2.721GB
  19. That makes perfect sense but I have version 1.10.6492 installed on both aircraft. I think it must be something to do with the fact I just hit repair and didn't do a complete full install. There only seems to be a VAS leak once I have entered all the Information into the FMC. Can someone do the same for me? I can send the details I put into the FMC if needed be, and see if they get the same issue. I sat at EGLL all night and left my PC running - not OOM. I enter data, and the VAS keeps going up. 2.310GB @ 2122z (Start-up) FSX, Heathrow UK2000 V3.06 and latest version of PMDG 77W 2.599GB @ 2154z (Cold mode, but with GPU on) 2.614GB @ 2204z (In 10 minutes a 0.015gb (15.88mb rise)) 2.634GB @ 0653z 2.650GB @ 0729z (after sitting at stand 545 all night) 3.103GB @ 0827z (After setting up FMC)
  20. Hello, I think you might be right, when I entered the DEP/ARR into the FMC, I've had a VAS leak. I use Navigraph, so what I will do is completely re-install PMDG 777, as even though I tried what you said. Simply clicking repair hasn't done the job? Was RJAA (Tokyo Narita?) also one of these airports that caused the Memory leak. Either way it's definitely something happening once I've setup the FMC. 2.310GB @ 2122z (Start-up) FSX, Heathrow UK2000 V3.06 and latest version of PMDG 77W 2.599GB @ 2154z (Cold mode, but with GPU on) 2.614GB @ 2204z (In 10 minutes a 0.015gb (15.88mb rise)) 2.634GB @ 0653z 2.650GB @ 0729z (after sitting at stand 545 all night) 3.103GB @ 0827z (After setting up FMC) Thanks all for your help.
  21. I definately need to re-do my CFG, if you fancy helping that would be appreciated. Many years ago I was stuck on Flight Sim and had nothing better to do, now I have been working since I built this PC (The above flight list show's I hardly get the time anymore) - It does need a clean up and to get far better performance. I am definitely onto something, I removed London City Extreme V1.00, Luton Extreme, Gatwick V3 and Heathrow V3.03 Re-Installed Gatwick V3 and Heahtrow V3.06 - so far more stable. Here is the results from last nights test, the sim is still running. This is post running a complete re-install to the latest versions of UK2000. Maybe they was giving a memory leak? However could it be the addition of the SID/STAR setup? 2.310GB @ 2122z (Start-up) FSX, Heathrow UK2000 V3.06 and latest version of PMDG 77W 2.599GB @ 2154z (Cold mode, but with GPU on) 2.614GB @ 2204z (In 10 minutes a 0.015gb (15.88mb rise)) 2.634GB @ 0653z 2.650GB @ 0729z (after sitting at stand 545 all night) Hello, I am using Process Explorer and Virtual Size - menu -> View -> Select Columns -> [Tab] Process Memory -> [check] Virtual Size -> OK. - It's been stable all night.
  22. I have just tried the following. Heathrow, London City and Luton Extreme Deactivated. Default LHR. Active Sky Evo. No VATSIM connection. (Changing of views, VC> Spot View > VC, but not excessively etc) VAS LOG at Default Heathrow - Does this look normal? 2.170GB @ 1849z 2.359GB @ 1917z after setup for KORD (FPL and perf data loaded/FD setup for departure) 2.468GB @ 1942z 2.509GB @ 1949z 2.712GB @ 2108z 2.725GB @ 2117z - 1hr after setup for KORD I very much doubt that it will be Active Sky Evolution, that's never caused me issues in the many years I've had it. That is correct, I entered everything as per flight plan into FMC. Loaded CORTE and then added DEP/ARR for both EGLL/KORD into the FMC. Once that was done, I then loaded wind-data from uplink. I am just going to park up the 77W overnight at Heathrow with V3.06 installed (Latest Version) and see what the VAS log says. Gives me the best test. Currently parked up at Stand 545, with Active Sky on. 2.310GB @ 2122z (Start-up) FSX, Heathrow UK2000 V3.06 and latest version of PMDG 77W 2.599GB @ 2154z (Cold mode, but with GPU on) 2.614GB @ 2204z (In 10 minutes a 0.015gb (15.88mb rise)) Is that sort of VAS usage correct? On both logs. Active Sky Evolution was released in 2010/2012 no? So surely it was for both, or are you adding it's FS9 coded and works with FSX, whereas ASN is better for FSX? If so I'll look into purchasing it soon. I have no photoreal scenery, as I only really see the benefit of having the airports when considering most of my flights are long-haul/short haul airline ops. I got the screenie just before OOM, that was at 3.7GB VAS. I have done quite a few flights in the PMDG 77L. I have just had a look, I've done zero completed flights with the B77W since I got it. BAW5 to Tokyo OOM'd in July 2014 Yesterday and today I got an OOM for the BAW297 to KORD. I have completed the following flights since July 2014 in the B77L. None in the 77W. EGKK-KJFK and KJFK-EGKK (UK2000 & FSDT) EGKK-KMCO (UK2000 & Taxi 2 Gate) - October 2014 KMCO-EGKK -November 2014 EGLL-KJFK (UK2000 & FSDT), EGLL-OMDB (UK2000 and FlyTampa Rebooted) - February 2015 KJFK-EGLL, EGKK-TBPB-EGKK (No reset of Flight Sim), EGLL-OMDB, EGKK-MMUN and MMUN-EGKK (Payware Scenery for Cancun, Barbados Freeware) - April and May 2015. I do find it all a bit strange.
  23. Problem- I am sure this is a problem with either the B77W or something route specific. But I haven't ever had any issues with the PMDG 772, mostly and only the B77W - I tried to fly the B77W from Heathrow to Tokyo a few months back, and 2 hours or so into the flight it crashes to desktop. I have completed many 772 flights and had zero issues, however with the 77W it's giving me a VAS leak. This isn't the first time, but no issues with the PMDG 772 since I've got it, so this must be something to do with the 77W? Detail - BAW297 - Heathrow - Chicago (15th May 2015) - GSTBH (Stand 553) - See below... BAW297 - Heathrow - Chicago (16th May 2015) - GSTBJ (stand 545) - Connect FS up at 1341z Connect to VATSIM Load up Active Sky Evolution Prepare for flight using real world data/loads and adding this into PFPX Load flight plan from CORTE I set the DEP/ARR page to what is likely to be the correct ARR into Chicago - WOBUN3G, 27L and PAINT4 ISL28C, ASP TRANS, VOGLR TRANS respectively. Download wind's from Datalink Pushback at 1510z Take-off at 1531z FSX crashes at 1747z just south of Iceland. The same thing happened yesterday, with a fairly similar route to NAT TRACK C and the same sort of detail as provided for DOF 160515 I use the following scenery - Heathrow UK2000 (Latest Version) and the latest version of PMDG today, with the previous version yesterday. ROUTE - N0485F340 WOBUN3F WOBUN DCT WELIN UT420 TNT UN57 POL UN601 ABEVI UN590 GOW DCT ERAKA/M084F350 NATC DORYY/M084F360 DCT ROUND/N0481F360 DCT ASP PAITN4 VAS started off at 2.4GB (From a Stand on Terminal 5) - a few change of views to just have a look. (I mean it is a game, we do take screenshots) So in just over 4 hours there's VAS increase of 1.6GB overflying the UK (With no add-on scenery and the North Atlantic ocean). I was watching this continuously increase as we kept flying.
