Modding crew response?
Gentlemen, Is there a way within the sound.cfg or .wav tp modify some of the crew responses to checklist callouts?, ie "standby". I realize this is a trigger for switch positioning, but is , for me, annoying. Thanks. Jack S. PS I don't ever remember, as a TWA flight deck crewmember, responding "Standby!"

Sound File
Experts, When the avionics switches are engaged, a hum sound becomes heard, perhaps the gryos. Does anyone know the source wave file for this sound? I would like to modify to my tastes as I have done others. Thanks. Jack S.

Start lock call out
Hi all JS experts. A quick question - I have no problem now using battery start(left-right) and seem to remove the start locks OK - no problem on TO. I do not get the'start locks removed' call out. I start with a default CD trike then load a saved JS flt at KIAD and proceed. Have I missed something- its really not critical.Jack SciuttiPS the call out is fine with the tutorial flt

JS41 SP1 rate of descent
Thank you for the quick reply. I remember a way to increase or decrease the ROD. If necessary, I'll reinstall pre SP1 and see where it was. I thought it was a pop-up below the FMS????How do you increase or decrease your ROD?Thanks.Jack Sciutti

JS41 SP1 rate of descent
Hi all, I'm sure its me, but I remember pre SP1, the FMS allowing me to control rate of descent.I don't see this feature below the FMS pop-up now, so what have I missed. I'm sure its pilot error!!!Thanks. Jack Sciutti

J41: How to assign Keyboard Commands with SP1?
- J41: How to assign Keyboard Commands with SP1?
Hi all, Has anyone successfully mapped the altitude increase/decrease to a key stroke? Thanks. Jack Sciutti- Start Help!
Andrew, No sweat! :( Yes and no, I was a TWA flight engineer (707/727), never made it to FO due to furloughs. By the way, the start video I discovered yesterday solved the left engine battery start issue. In other word, read the fu..... manual!!!My resume does say military and airline pilot, but sometimes with a FSX airplane that requires checklist procedures (J44, F1 Mustang, LD 767) I wonder about my actual experience. I wonder if I'm the only one to get both engines on fire in flight!!!! ( this bird does NOT dead-stick very well).Thank you for your input.Jack SciuttiPS I will say, being an airline pilot is not really working- Start Help!
Andrew, Thank you. I meant I had to start the right on battery. I always start the left first on GP. Remembering my TWA days, we ALWAYS had GP plugged in and the AC powered before preflight. I did start the 727 APU for engine start and after landing for electrics so the engines could be shut down as soon as we parked. The maint. team would then use GP and shut the APU down to conserve fuel (even back in the dark ages!)Jack Sciutti- Start Help!
Hi all, SOLVED!!! Although I must start the right engine first. Jack Sciutti :(- Start Help!
Gentlemen(developersβ testers), I solved the issue partially: I need ground power, start one at a time. Any reasons why my battery won't handle the left start? Jack Sciutti- Start Help!
Well, I moved the tutorial AC to KRIC and the left engine again shut down.Something is amiss here on my system.Jack Sciutti- Start Help!
EMB120, Thank you, but that was not it. I'm using a Thrustmaster 1600 which has a slider and the J44 throttles do move.I did hear a warning as the left engine shut down but wasn't quick enough to see the warning. What I don't understand is the ability to start the tutorial???I do have another controller I can try - no throttle.I removed the FSUSIP dll to see if that was the problem, but to no avail.I can always start running I guess, but sure would like to know where I'm going wrong. Is FSX SP2 the issue? I could go back to SP1 and install accelerationif my problem is there but I dont see how it could be.I've done alot of software development/test/ and intgration but I hope you guys have the answer? The next test I guess is to move the tutorial J44 to another airport and see if I can start properly. If I can, I guess all I have to do is add pax and fuel? Thanks again.Jack Sciutti- Start Help!
Folks, an update I reinstalled the J41 and can start properly the tutorial. The left engine continues to start and stop after loading from a cold and dark state. I think it may be the CD aircraft config. I will await your input and try one thing different. Thanks. Jack Sciutti- Start Help!
Gentlmen, First off, many thanks for the answers to my previous questions. Now, I've followed EVERY guide here especially the 'picture' one. I can load a running J41 - no problem. I can load a default cold and dark Cessna or Trike at my home field -KFCI. I've tried this: Load a J41 - engnes stopped. Follow the procs: unfeather,F1,battries checked on(always on), standby punps on, then hit the left start switch. The engines spins up normally, then ALWAYS shuts down. The right engine ALWAYS starts normally and runs. What do I have wrong with my left engine? This happens whether I move the J41 from KFCI to wherever or move the CD bird first, then select a J41. XP64, FSX SP2, i7 920 OC, 3Gb 1600 RAM, nvdia 260 card. This is a recent clean reinstall of FSX on its own drive. I have reduced the J41 config a bit for peformance. I have NOT tried a J41 reinstall yet. Many thanks. Jack SciuttiPS I think while waiting for suggestions, I'll reinstall this nice bird.- weight airspeeds?
Charlie, WHOOPS!!! FTFM!!! Thanks. Jack- weight airspeeds?
Gavin, Thanks for the reply. The one that pops up when you click on the center console and gives warious AC weights and the V1, VR, etc airspeeds. Jack- weight airspeeds?
Hi PMDG, Thanks for a bird that is really fun! I actually have to think like a pilot as I was trained. Rule of 3/rule of 5, etc. I realize this may be too costly but perhaps one of our members (I don't have the skills) could offer a hard-copy of the weight/speed charts? Anyway, this one proves your coding skills and I spent 20+ writing and integrating software. WELL DONE!!! Jack Sciutti :(- J41 fuel imbalance
George, Many thanks for the rapid reply, especially form one who has really wrung this one out. WHOOPS! xfeed not open for flt! Should the light come on after pushing the switch and do the standby pumps have to be on? Jack Sciutti- J41 fuel imbalance
Gentlemen, Well, I finally got from KRIC-KCLT and screwed up the VFR landing! I did have a fuel imbalance that I missed; is this normal? I think it became apparent after loading a saved fligh at FL160. The manual is a bit vague on Xfeed but I gather the pumps are on and the xfeed valve open or is only the pump on that will feed the engines until they are in balance? Thanks in advance.Jack Sciuttiformer 52 driver( now that sucker had some xfeed valves!)- FMS direct to activation question
Gentlemen,I am new to this very nice bird and I need a bit of help on the correct order of activating the autopilot then FMS direct. I read the pilot's tutorial but deviated slightly and did not have the FP in the FMS when airborne.Sequence: prior to TO from IAD, FMS FP KIAD-KCLT loaded in FMS. I selected direct to the first fix while still on the ground and all seemed OK. After TO, gear and flaps up, I selected autopilot,IAS, ALT SEL, HDG (turn to 210 degrees). I then selected NAV and the FMS showed no FP?I guess the direct to must wait until I'm in the air???Thanks.Jack Sciutti- J41 SP1 STATUS UPDATE AND ISSUE TRACKING
Ryan, Just got this bird, my first PMDG AC. The only time I get a CTD is when exiting from the tutorial flt or one where I start with the J41. If I start with the cessna, running or CD, go to the airport of choice, select the J41, then exit, no problem. I believe the answer for me( more testing required) is to start with the default cessna (KFCI-clear weather; the airport probably doesn't mattter) then proceed. This also works with the F1 Mustang and CS 757, the 767 has problems exiting that I'm still working out. There is a thread on many forums that suggest, as you, that ALL complex AC stat with a default AC. F1 offers one for the Mustang. Thanks for a really nice bird that I have managed to fry a number of engines on (RTFM) and have been demoted to ramp service baggage handler.Jack S.- Mr. Allensworth
Jeremy , Whoa!!!! That is a very thoughtful answer to what I thought was a 'simple' inquiry. As to thick skin, I do believe mine has grown thicker over the years working as a ORACLE DBA,software developer/integrator; the DoD was a handful at times.Much easier, perhaps depending on your perspective, to fly combat or push a TWA 707 around. I never made it beyond FE due to furloughs( hope you haven't experienced that!), so went back to school and spent 20+ in IT. My son is a FO with an airline based in Atlanta and is on the 757/767( lucky man). Now, I do have time as I'm retired and a fan of FSX and numerous add-ons and spent too much $ on systems to handle both FSX and IL2.I suspect I could be of help, but don't know exactly where you would need me: reviewer with pilot experience and coding experience, cop, watchdog, gofer, some published articles a long time ago (AAHS Journal/IPMS Journal - I still build scale models).Anyway, thanks for the insightful answer. My $ resources are somewhat limited but perhaps I can make my first annual AVSIM bash next year.Jack SciuttiMr. Momtchil Dobrev - Guetov, Actually. I agree now that I have more information and I was not trying to be critical. Enough said. Jack Sciutti- Mr. Allensworth
Dear Tom, I finally stumbeled upon the tirade on a subsequently locked forum by Mr. Roach re the CS 767. My question and I have followed these forums since I got back into MSFS when FSX was released, is this: How do you pick and what qualifications do you see as necessary for an administrator? At what point do you draw the line on abuse by an administrator? I realize we are a diverse lot from around the world( thank you internet) and I've been around 70 years with time in the B-52, 707, etc.which qualifies me as an old f..., but am amazed at what I sometimes read as comments that get out of hand on BOTH sides of the equation. Just curious, but I suspect I will not be banned for this inquiry? Jack Sciutti Viet Nam Vet (yes, I'm proud of my service).
