1200 utc is 4am here in California, but I should be able to join later in the day. James -
I just downloaded this and looked through the manual. It looks like a must have piece of software. Among other things it presents a map with detailed terrain elevation, both top-down and cross-section. It interacts with FS to incorporate whatever weather FS is using as well. I haven't used it yet but anyone who doesn't have FSNavigator or something similar should get this. James

RTWR 2010 Recruitment and Registration

Greetings Team Avsim.I'd like to join the Avsim ATWR team if I might. I've flown the last three races on another team so am already up to speed with the whole thing. Have been flight simming for about six years in various sims. ( Callsign ) James ( Flightsim version ) FS9 ( Experience in Flightsim ) Fly most everything except modern jetliners. Moderately good with choppers. Regular stable includes the Citation X, Lears, P51H, P47, Bearcat, DH Hornet, P38, Do335, A7E, Vega-5C (beauty of an aircraft) and rest of default, as well as most single and twin engine GA. DC7s, B29, RB50, P3 Orion, Tu-95,114. Also some time in the Concorde. ( Timezone =/- UTC ) California USA UTC -8 -
Now that is a great idea StoneCold. No preplanning information. The race starts, then the teams get the rules and start planning. The idea that one of the teams has software to plan their route is disconcerting. What seems to have been a great idea to hold a yearly for-fun event for anyone who wants to fly is sliding down the slope to a dog-eat-dog 'we have to win at any cost' type of event. I guess the question is is it better to have a race similar to the one in the film "The Great Race", or one similar to the Indy 500, with hired experts and all chance of error removed. I think the organising committee should not let it devolve into the latter. For now though looking forward to it! We still have to fly it and anything can happen. Stetson (one of the other teams)
