  1. However, 1/2 refresh rate vsync stopped working in DX9. Bought the fixer, switched to DX10 and now it is working again. I love my FSX right now!
  2. Changing from my old GTX 260 to a GTX 970 solved the problem!
  3. Ok, thanks for replying. I think I will go for a GTX 970.
  4. Thanks for your replies! Maybe I should buy the fixer and start using DX10 mode or try P3D instead.
  5. I have recently built a new pc with an i5 6600k CPU, running at 4.2 GHz. I use the FSX Steam Edition. Currently my addons are: - FS Global 2010 - FTX Global - UTX Europe v2 - PMDG 737 NGX - Active Sky Next I have a very old GPU, a GTX 260. I made a test at Aerosoft Stockholm Arlanda airport, sitting at the runway, using the virtual cockpit, and I am not able to maintain the locked frame rate of 30 fps. No AI traffic is in use at all. Even though the GPU usage shows around 50-60 %, is it still possible that my GPU is the problem here? Would i benefit from upgrading to a better GPU?
  6. I have made the move to FSX:SE on a new build, using Windows 10. I'm woundering if anyone has full screen and DX9 working properly in Windows 10? For me, the loading screen for a new flight is completely black and I see no status bar. Furthermore, I am not able to use the menus at the top of the screen during a flight (by pressing alt). I can access the menu bar but selecting one of the options in the drop-down menus results in a black screen. DX9 and window mode works fine, as well as full screen mode using DX10. And yes, I have installed the DX9 package.
  7. I have exactly the same problem as described here but in FS9. So it is not only the PMDG NGX but other aircraft also. The aircraft with the least flickering is the FS9 default Cessna. The flickering only occurs in the 2D panel (when switching view in the 2D panel or when going from external to 2D). No flickering at all when changing view in VC. It seems to be a short pause when changing view, like it is not responding instantly combined with flickering. I can also confirm that the problem is connected to the 1/2 refresh rate setting in NI. I have 30 FPS locked and 60 Hz refresh rate. Setting v-sync to FORCE ON results in no flickering but stutters instead. I didn't experience this before but ever since reinstalling my computer I have had it. My laptop works fine with no flickering at all.
  8. Hi, thanks. I have already tried the newest driver and a few other but there was no difference. As I mentioned, it worked perfectly before the reinstallation and I have the same tweaks applied to the fs9.cfg as before (I have also deleted it many times and started from a default cfg file). I am doing everything the same way as I did before when it worked. I did note now that this problem is not connected to FS9 only. I installed FSX and the same thing occurs. I also see a short short drop in FPS when I change view direction in the 2D cockpit and when going from external view to 2D cockpit. This seems to be why the stuttering and freezes occur. The V-sync tweak I am reffering to is when setting 1/2 refresh rate in Nvidia Inspector, 60 Hz refresh rate for the monitor and 30 FPS locked in FS.
  9. The uploader does not allow me to upload my fs9.cfg, but here are the important parts of the file: [DISPLAY.Device.NVIDIA GeForce GTX 260.0] Mode=1920x1080x32 MipBias=8 TriLinear=1 [DISPLAY] UPPER_FRAMERATE_LIMIT=30 TEXTURE_BANDWIDTH_MULT=100 RUNWAY_LIGHTS_SURFACE_SCALAR=1.0 RUNWAY_LIGHTS_VASI_SCALAR=1.0 RUNWAY_LIGHTS_APPROACH_SCALAR=1.0 RUNWAY_LIGHTS_STROBE_SCALAR=1.0 [TERRAIN] TERRAIN_ERROR_FACTOR=100.000000 TERRAIN_MIN_DEM_AREA=10.000000 TERRAIN_MAX_DEM_AREA=200.000000 TERRAIN_MAX_VERTEX_LEVEL=21 TERRAIN_TEXTURE_SIZE_EXP=8 TERRAIN_AUTOGEN_DENSITY=5 TERRAIN_USE_GRADIENT_MAP=1 TERRAIN_EXTENDED_TEXTURES=1 TERRAIN_DEFAULT_RADIUS=4 TERRAIN_EXTENDED_RADIUS=4 TERRAIN_EXTENDED_LEVELS=4 Here are my Nvidia Inspector settings
  10. I recently made a complete reinstallation of Windows 7 along with FS9 and all my addons and I'm now experiencing a very strange problem connected to the V-sync tweak (1/2 refresh rate). I had no problems at all before the reinstallation. What happens is that i have freezes and stutters when i chnage view direction in the 2D panel, and the FPS seems to be a bit unstable. All other views, including VC, is working fine. This is only happening when the V-sync tweak is applied. I have tried three different versions of Nvidia Inspector and a couple of different Nvidia Drivers. Does anyone know what is wrong?
  11. Ok, thank you. Then I will save my money for something else.
  12. Is anyone using Ultimate Terrain and Ground Environment Pro together with Zinertek Night Environment? I currently have Ultimate Terrain and Ground Environment Pro and was woundering if getting Zinertek Night Environment will add anything new and better compared to only having the two addons mentioned?
  13. Well, I think the iFly 737 is the one I actually want and fly some of the SAS and norwegian routes in the scandinavia and to destinations around europe. I think I have to get the new FlyTampa Dubai Rebooted also and try the ESSA-OMDB route using Norwegian 737
  14. Thank you all for sharing some advice and thoughts regarding this. It's still a difficult desicion but I think I will go for one of them to start with and maybe get the other one later on. The 737 is in the lead right now, but not by much, I still have some time to think about it as I will wait until the christmas holidays from university. It's not a god idea to buy a new aircraft right now when the exams are approaching.
  15. I'm thinking about going back to flight sim again more seriously after not flying so much at all during the last years. I used to fly the Maddog MD-80 which is absolutely a fantastic aircraft, but I would like to start with a new plane. I'm thinking about getting either the iFly 737 or the QualtiWings BAE 146. The BAE 146 seems to be a very good aircraft, that I'm very interested in learning to fly, but I'm a bit concerned about it being quite a limited aircraft type regarding range and number of operators, for example. A B737 on the other hand is more allround, but perhaps more boring compared to the BAE 146. Which one would you píck, and why? Thanks
  16. Every time that a thinner cloud layer is reported to be lower than a more thick layer, it seems like the thicker higher layer is surpressed. I have ASE B655 for FS9.For example, now I made a short flight around ESSA and metar reported FEW006 and BKN020 and I don't think I experienced any broken thicker layer at 2000ft. Also in FS if you select 'Weather' from the 'World' drop down menu, while flying, it only says 'Light coluds'.Is this correct? It seems like FS is forgetting the higher broken layer.
  17. I have some problem with this as well. I made a test now and manually set OVC003 at ESSA. I got visual contact with the runway at about 1400 feet AGL on final. The only time I can get later contact with the runway is low clouds in combination with very poor visibilty. I use ASE in FS9. Should it be possible to get low clouds or is it a limitation in FS?
  18. Yes that's the same stutters I get as well. But I can't remember having them with my old Athlon 6000+ and 7900GTX. Maybe I didn't care then, but now I hate those stutters.
  19. Can I use an SSD for fsx and a HDD for win7 at the same time? Do I then have to use AHCI for the HDD as well, and how does HDDs perform with sata mode AHCI?
  20. I'm almost ready to order my new system, but I have some questions left. I already have a Spinpoint F3 1tb and a WD black 640gb sata2. I need a larger disk for storage and am going to use the Spinpoint for that. Then I will be using my WD black 640gb for win7 and programs, so I need a new one for FSX. Shoul I get a 1tb WD caviar black sata3 or a 120gb SSD for FSX? And finally I cant really decide if to get the 2500k or 2600k. I know HT is useless for FSX but I'm thinking about those 2 extra mb of cache... Some people are saying the extra cache is good for FSX. I don't think there is any FPS difference but maybe the extra cache is usefull for making FSX a bit smoother? And I have already decided to get the GTX 570 over a GTX 560ti.
  21. What about using both SSD and mechanical when it comes to choose between IDE or AHCI? can I set IDE for the mechanical and AHCI for the SSD, or should I set both to AHCI?
  22. Maybe that's right about 2500k vs 2600k, that the larger cache is useful for fsx. I think I have decided to get the GXT 570 and not GTX 560ti. But I'm still not sure about if I should go with SSDs. I think I need two in that case. 120gb alone is too small for win7, programs, fsx and addons I think.
  23. I think it's time for me to make the step, and leave FS9 for FSX. I reallt want to fly the new 737 NGX. In order to do this, I have to make some updates to my computer and switch from AMD phenom to Intel sandy bridge. I have already decided to get: Motherboard: Asus P8Z68-V Pro RAM: Corsair Vengeance 2x4gb 1600MHz CL8 (I know CL7 or CL6 is to prefer for FS but it's almost impossible to find that high performance RAM in Sweden) Then I have two options: 1) get an i7 2600k and a GTX 570, and keep my WD caviar black 640gb for FSX and my Spinpoint F3 1tb for OS and programs. 2) get an i5 2500k and a GTX 560ti, and buy a 120gb SSD for FSX and a 60gb SSD for OS and programs. I already have a CPU cooler, PSU and case. What is the best choice?
  24. Ok, thanks.I even tried AA 32xS combined and 8x Supersampling. It became a little more soft but still jaggies/shimmering.
  25. I have a GTX260 and have set my graphics settings according to the Nvidia Inspector instructions here on the forum, but can't ged rid of the shimmering/jaggies. All textures sort of become unclear when viewing from the distance. You can especially see it on the AI traffic textures. And then you look close and see that the textures are nice and clear. Also the red text above the AI traffic is like "too sharp" and not soft and clear. Anyone knows why? This is not a driver issue, I have tried many different ones.
