  1. Thanks for your reply Jonathon.... sorry it's taken me so long to respond :-)
  2. Hi Guys. I hope this question will not be classed as off-topic :-) My favorite a/c to fly are the heavies... PMDG B744 being my favorite. I like to simulate european cargo flights into EMA (East Midlands, my local) which are often done at night. My question.. Can anyone suggest the best settings in FSX that will give the best night flying experience graphically (I'm thinking of pin sharp lights on the runways etc.). As I fly on a laptop I am hoping this will also allow me to get some better frame rates. My confusion is what I can get away with graphically while still maintaining good night-time visuals, if that makes sense :-) I am hoping someone has tried this already before I start experimenting, saving me some time. Happy New Year to you all and MTIA for any replies. Mark Lindley
  3. Thank you all for taking the time to reply !Kind RegardsMark Lindley
  4. Hi AllMy question refers to Ryans Tutorial 1 and is a general question. In this this tutorial we plan a flight from EGKK to EHAM and in the turorial the route is input into the FMC from take off to landing. My question.... in normal airline ops would a pilot be aware of STARS and active runways in use before departure or would this be obtained during the flight ?If it's available before the flight is this info available to the simmer ? I understand this could change due to weather etc., but I am more interested in 'everyday' procedure.Loving this fantastic product and thanks for the awesome guides Ryan :-)Kind RegardsMark Lindley
  5. Hi AllI have an idea to simulate the air transport of F1 cars through the new season. Would give a nice new way to see many parts of the world I've not flown to yet :))SO I need some help.Is there anyone out there that knows how this works in RL ? Equipment, companys used, shedules, airports used etc.I'm guessing that a/c transport is only used for continent changes or breaks in the season when they cars are flown home ?The team I am looking to transport is Maclaren, so if anyone at all has any info at all on this I would be very greatful.Kind Regards.Mark
  6. Hi Simon First of all I would like to thank you for your you extensive reply to my 'blocks to blocks' question regarding B738 ops. I couldn't have imagined your output... fantastic :-)) I have another question I noticed in one of your posts you now have the PMDG B73. I am really interested to know how you set up the visuals on your PC to give you as close to RL as possible. I have been an ardent 2D panel user simply because it gives me the ability to glance quickly between the instruments and 'out the window'. In VC at 1 x zoom I find it dificult to do this and feel out of control. If I pull back in VC it seems wrong. I have also instated the widescreen view in my FSX.CFG which seems to give a better field of view and also enhances the feeling of speed. So... once you've had a play, would you mind telling us how you set your PMDG B73 visually ? Once again, thanks for your fantastic input to my simworld. Kind Regards Mark LindleyGrantham, UK
  7. Sir... Fantastic reply, thank you for taking the time )). You will excuse me if I hold back on more questions until I absorb all the information you have given.. I think this kind of info is crucial to anyone wanting to simulate short-haul ops and I am immensly grateful for your input. Kind Regards Mark LindleyGrantham, UK
  8. Hi :) I started another thread requesting a blocks to blocks description of a typical B738 shorthaul flight. I was hoping to discover what state the a/c was in when you get it after a short haul, what you have to program in especially around SIDS and STARS and how real life flights actually are.. ie are you vectored in and out our airports, do you use the published proceedures or is it a mix of both ? As a short haul pilot what does your day look like ? In fact I have a million questions so I hope you are tolerant :-)) The PMDG 738 is briliiant but to me the knowledge from you 738 pilots is crucial to making my flights 'real'. I will keep asking questions as long as you offer answers :-) Kind Regards Mark Lindley Grantham, UK
  9. Thats a shame BUT it is something I'm sure he would be interested in being both a petrol head and holding a ppl. Where did you hear it was fake ??
  10. Good on ya m8 )). I love playing Stairway. Try Sick Again from Physical Graffiti ))
  11. Thanks all for your replies..... wasn't aware of the shift o but having to switch in and out might be a pain. I think Track IR is gonna be the only solution. Regards Mark Lindley Grantham, UK
  12. Thx Ironmaiden Yes I am aware of this... I was hoping to use the mouse. Its been a big part of my other gaming (FPS etc) and I would love it for looking around.. just not keen on holding down the spacebar )) ps Iron Maiden .... Led Zep/ Deep Purps is proper rock :)))))) Kind Regards Mark Lindley
  13. Hi All As a 2D panel user I am really trying to get to grips with the VC. To look around the VC I press the spacebar and move mouse which takes two hands. I would like to activate mouse look by pressing and holding one of the mouse buttons to activate it instead of the spacebar. Is this possible ? I've had a quick look at setup but can't see how I could do it. Anyone any thoughts or answers ? Kind Regards Mark Lindley Grantham, UK
  14. Awesome info Luke, thanks very much Mark LindleyGrantham, UK
  15. Thanks for the replies Seb and Fred. I was hoping you would pop up Fred )) As per the Shannon thing, as an a/c enthusiast in the UK it always seems, monitoring the forums, that the new RYR a/c seem to go to Shannon first ? I am aware Stansted is a major base having flown from there several times but I didnt know it was HQ. Your info is appreciated and I hope you don't mind more RYR questions as I am very interested in their MO. Kind Regards Mark LindleyGrantham, UK
  16. Hi Guys OK, in 'my world' I want to get myself a new Ryanair B738...... So, can anyone tell me what process a new B738 delivery to RYR would look like ? Would the a/c roll out in RYR colours at KBFI ? How many test flights would be made and what sort of duration / routing do these follow. How is delivery made ? Is the a/c flown direct from KBFI to Shannon or is it staged through several airfields before getting to the UK? When it arrives at Shannon what happens ? Do RYR do their own test flights or is it put straight into service ? Sorry if I sound a bit geeky asking all of this, I just want to do this as real life as possible, humour me . Kind regards, Mark LindleyGrantham UK
  17. Thanks for the replies especially G550.... anymore RW pilots willing to describe a route ? Mark
  18. I'm sorry if this is too far off topic but I would like to take the time to pay tribute to Jon Egging, Red 4 of the fabulous Red Arrows who lost his life today in a tragic accident at Bournemouth UK. Blue Skies Sir. Mark
  19. Hi Guys This is a request to the real world pilots on the forums.... I am a long time simmer and realise I don't fly 'correctly' ie after reading these forums I realise its not a matter of engaging LNAV and VNAV and letting the aircraft do its magic.... it's seems a much more ATC controlled affair and all my pre-programmed and a/p flown SIDS and STARS are probably not accurate to real life So Guys, would any of you be prepared to script an example of a complete flight including how your deps and arr are managed in the and how you use the autopilot for all stages or flight. I realise there are many ways to skin a cat and there is no hard and fast routine, but it would really help me to enjoy my simming more to know how it really 'is'. I must say I am personally quite interested in hearing from the gentleman that posts here who was a Ryanair pilot as that is my NGX livery choice and I have flown with them many times so it would be great to know what really happens... but of course any input would be gratefully recieved. In Anticipation Regards Mark Lindley Grantham, UK
  20. Being a Brit and frequent flyer with Ryanair I wish to set up my NGX for this carrier. Is there anyone on the forum who knows what settings I should use to replicate Ryanair ?... ie which MCP, cdu preferences etc. OR am I missing the obvious and the sim does it when I load their livery ? Kind Regards Mark LindleyGranthamUK
  21. Nothing I can add to this but thanks for the great topic and replies... it's something I've been meaning to ask/discuss but never have. I love to make my flights as real as possible and I guess just flying pre-programmed routes isn't reality.
  22. LOL sorry Ernst I just had to post about it, forgive me ))) Tuesday will soon come around Safe Travels Mark
  23. Hi Guys Just completed two flights with my new simulation and I just wanted to say how spectacular the VNAV is !!! I have not experienced a VNAV like this in a FSX sim, it's just beautiful Wonderful work Mark LindleyGranthamUK
