Been off the forum for a while. There is mention of a tutorial#1.5. Where is this found. Peter Rowan Found it Peter Rowan
  2. Just started reflying 777 since SP1c and can't remember the key combination for time acceleration. Wan't there also an option in FMS also for this. Has this moved. I have RTFM and have searched but not found. Found it - it is called Auto Cruise in the Tutorial and Time Acceleration in the Intro hence the confusion on searching. Peter Rowan
  3. Thanks - Quite a list. They should be pinned though in one thread. Peter Rowan
  4. I have been looking for a list of new function from the Service Packs especially the last one but can't find that anywhere. I would have thought that it would be a pinned message on this forum. Looked on PMDG's web site where I can download them but no change list Peter Rowan
  5. Thanks. That solved the problem. Peter Rowan
  6. I also did all my landings with autoland to learn the approaches and see what 3 degree slope looks like etc. and see how it should be done and then gradually took over more and more of the flying. That worked for me who is absolutely not an ATPL but just a simulator pilot. So for example you can use the localiser to be in line with the runway but fly the 3 degree slope yourself or you can set the heading to the runway heading on the FMC and follow that in etc. Reegards
  7. 777 flies fine with many flights - a great plane - I love it, never any OOM errors or CTDs and good performance but gradually all the altitude call outs have gone. They are all turned on in options. All other sounds seem to work fine including the annoying RAAS messages but not rotate call outs or any landing call outs now. I have seen a few forum messages around gradually reducing landing call outs but now no takeoff call outs. Is this a known bug. BTW I always start off as suggested in the manual with FSX loading and then I load the default 777 with the default start up. Peter Rowan
  8. It works now. I had the syntax for the waypoint I was adding slightly wrong. Peter Rowan
  9. I can't seem to work out how to do this. For example I have BRI, CI27, F127 then runway in FMC. I can delete BRI and add BRI90/10 and that appears as BRI02 no problem but if I Try to add another waypoint before that e.g BRI45/15 I get invalid waypoint. Also anywaypoint based on C127 e.g C12709/10 fails. What is the right way to do this step by step. I am trying to build a set of waypoints for a circuit all based on BRI. I could do with an advanced FMC tutorial e.g when do you use ERASE and when DELETE etc. Is this all explained in the manual - even so a few examples would be great. Peter Rowan

A number of times I have tried to delete the next waypoint in the flight but have received a message like invalid delete. How do you manage around this. I understand you can insert easily a waypoint after that way point to remove it but if it is the start of a star or in the middle of a star it doesn't work. Peter Rowan
  11. It is exactly as Spook says. Brislington and then turn at chew valley lake. I shall try spook's approach using BRI09. I thought STARS were sacrosanct. Obviously not. Thanks for the replies. Regards
  12. THis is more one for the real pilots amongst you. All the STARS into EGGD come to a waypoint 3000' directly above the Airport runway waypoint BRI and then loop away and back to land. I fly into EGGD from Edinburgh all the time as a passenger and this just never happens either you go straight into 27 if you are coming from the East or if coming from the west for 27 you come over Brecon go due East North of bristol turn 90 degrees right go a few miles and then 90 degrees right again to land on 27 in other words a circuit but there is no STAR for either of these approaches and nothing in the STAR or Airport documentation which is the real NATS documentation mentions any approaches like these. If I try and set up what the planes actually do there are no way points for the 2 right angle turns. Two questions - is it usual for Airplanes to ignore the STARS like they all seem to do and essentially manually fly in and also how do I set up the waypoints for the turns in the FMC so that I am coming in a 5 mile North of the Airport going east til 5 miles past the airport, turning south and then turning west on heading 270 and then landing. How would I set up such an approach with the FMC There are no waypoints suitable though there are 2 waypoints lined up with the runway though these are not mentioned on the NATS runway 27 Instrument Approach charts. I tried to remove some waypoints for the BRIB star that crosses over Brecon but I could only remove it entirely or leave it as it is. I am just surprised that all the flights seem to not use the STARS or deviate from them. Peter Rowan
  13. I just flew Gatwick to Paris CDG and I had 2 problems. Firstly the EFIS froze so as I taxied it didn't update bearing or the view turn with the plane but if I selected it to get the enlarged display then that enlarged display updated fine but on going back to the display in the panel it was still frozen so I could manage with the larger panel. After about a minute the EFIS started updating. Secondly I had had a message "display select panel" but no button in that panel thatcontrols what displays in the bottom display worked during the whole flight though the standard display in that panel was updating but I couldn't display any other view. When I selected thebuttons for the alternate displays they animated but nothing changed. Everything else has worked fine on all my flights and I don't get OOM errrors. I will fly the flight again and see if the errors are reproducible. Peter Rowan
  14. This is on the ground and is when you are supposed to set trim in the tutorial e.g after CG input. I can click the VC to make it happen but no joy from the joystick. I presume that it is pitch trim I should be assigning. Will try 1 and 7 and see if that works. Peter Rowan
  15. I can't seem to change pitch trim with my joystick buttons in the 777. Works fine in the 737NG. I have in FSX controls the buttons selected to Pitch Trim up and Pitch Trim down but trim doesn't change in the 777. Can anyone advise. I am using a Saitek cyborg 3d. The buttons seem to work with my other planes. Apart from that I am having fun with the 777 and no other problems. I find it much easier to fly than the 737NG but then what do I know. I am just a simulation pilot apart from littlle planes like cessnas. Peter Rowan
