  1. I love using this addon since I belong to a virtual airline and am starting to log longer flights. FS Web Communicator is like an inflight movie of which I like to watch YouTube and Hulu. It is starting to show its age as it utilizes Internet Explorer 7, even if you have IE8 installed. I'm wondering if there is a genious out there that can update FS Web Communicator to make it use IE8 or even Firefox. I've already contacted the original developer and he has no plans for future updates, and I doubt he even still flight sims any more. I imagine this modification is done by changing an entry within the .dll file, as there is nothing else to change. Just today I saw a message from YouTube saying they are going to disconinue support for IE7 very soon, of which I suppose FS Web Communicator will no longer be able to show videos from YouTube, and anywhere else that copies YouTube/Google. Thanks, Todd
  2. Oh yeah, the download link until the updated version is put up... http://library.avsim...php?DLID=163496Also available at Flightsim... http://www.flightsim.com/kdl.php?fid=161105
  3. I forgot the Mouseclick sound effect in the original download, so here is the link to the sound until the FSX Metal GUI can be re-uploaded.http://www.filefactory.com/f/2280550fc57fe8c6/
  4. I thought I'd try something a bit different, and after staring at the same old boring user interface, I thought a fresh new look would be refreshing. So I started tinkering with some different metal/aluminum designs. One thing that kind of made it difficult to do as I wanted to do, is that the font color cannot be changed, so you might notice some of the text is hard to read. But overall, I am happy with my results. This is no way a "perfect" job, but it beats looking at the same bland default look. Also, I tried my best to make this as dark as possible for those who fly with the lights in the room off at night, or have light sensitive eyes such as mine.A few other things I changed was the background to the aircraft viewer window of which I have 4 different options to choose from. I also added a new sound when you click on something in the menus from the Internet Explorer "click" sound to the "Seat Belts Fastened" dong sound.I'm planning on releasing it sometime later in the week, I want to make sure I've not missed anything. Until then, I'll give you some teaser screenshots. My next project I'm planning on making a WestWind themed interface.Free Flight UILoading BarSettingsCalibrationControlsFlight PlannerSelect AirportScenery LibraryTime and SeasonWeatherHere are the optional viewer backgrounds included in the background...
  5. Celebrity Deaths reported during the week ending 12 November 2011: Friday, 4 November Cynthia Myers, model (Playboy) and actress ("Beyond the Valley of the Dolls"), cause not reported, 61. Sunday, 6 November Margaret Field, aka Maggie Mahoney, actress ("The Man from Planet X"), 89. She was the mother of actress Sally Field. Mel Hancock, U.S. Congressman (R-MO, 1989-97). Monday, 7 November Joe Frazier, pro boxer, of liver cancer, 67. Tuesday, 8 November Hal Bruno, TV politica...

  6. I like RFields and Bartchie's replies, as they mean way less work (As far as adjusting the aircraft contact point properties). Could anyone decipher which point could be the line to change (ie nosewheel setting) Here is the cfg settings from my virtual airline's livery stable of the MD-81...
  7. Whenever I have to re-install something, I use REVO Unistaller. Normally if you use Add/Remove Programs, it won't clean the registry. Also if you don't know how to manually clean the registry of all FSX entries, sometimes when you re-install it some problems may arise. REVO will remove "everything" that was installed the first time, I mean everything (except addon files). So like sargeski said, backup all the files in My Documents (and move the folder to your desktop or somewhere else safe), and uninstall any Addons you have installed with an installer. Once you finish uninstalling and removing all registry entries, reboot your PC and then install your new copy of FSX. Once installed, then you may move your backup files back into My Documents.
  8. I have a small workaround for you. Did you know if you put the cursor on the sides or corners of the popup windows, you can re-size them? You can also drag and drop them anywhere you want on the screen. The only thing is when you pan around, the popup windows move with you, but you can "fake it" by making the GPS smaller and slide it into an empty spot on the panel. Virtual Cockpit files are not modifiable (as far as I know) to default aircraft due to hard coding, so I'm not sure if anyone could create a GPS Mod like you are suggesting. But, if someone finds out how to get into the developers files, your idea sounds good to me. I would also like someone to make all the panel lights/buttons to stay illuminated when you turn off the dome light like when you switch to the 2D cockpit view, that's another thing that has always annoyed me more than anything else in FSX.
  9. Does anyone know if the new website/forum will have darker themes to choose from. I've got old tired eyes that have trouble reading forums with these bright backgrounds. For example this forum is like staring directly into Landing Lights. (I'm wondering how long it takes before some moron replies back saying "Turn the brightness of your monitor down) Plus it would be nice to have like a darker blue color with clouds in the background. I use Simple Machines for my forum, and there are about a dozen forum themes that would fit the aircraft theme. Thanks,TuddsI'm afraid reading these forums for more than 10 minutes will make me go blind :(
  10. Try using WheelCam. You can adjust any camera view to your liking, whether it's a cockpit or window seat view. Then when you have all your views set up to your liking, and you are ready to save your Default Flight, the camera angles will stay that way when you fly again with the same aircraft. For example, in the A318, A319,and A320, the Pilot view is a little to far to the right and to far forward. You can scoot yourself to the left and sit back in the seat a little more. Same with Window seating, you can choose window seat forward and aft of the wings.
