  1. Bert: Is there another GPS option for X-plane 11. Love the GTN 750 equipped Kodiac Quest I was using in FSX/P3D!
  2. Hi Bert! Flying the default Cessna for now. I guess I could save the flight plan in the 430, then load it onto the 530. Do they share the same output folder? I assume that AP slaves to NAV1 but if anyone knows for sure let me know.
  3. Is there any reason to add the flight plan to both the 430 and 530? It seems a bit redundant. Which GPS module is used to determine the GPS for the CDI and for the Autopilot?
  4. Question: When I go to the scenery gateway, there seems to be multiple files uploaded for each airport. There is one that is "recommended". I'm assuming the recommended one is the one that is in the default scenery?

  6. I have the GTN750 from Flight 1, and run P3D V3.4, and I have it working well with my Kodiak add-on from Lionhart and Phenon 300 from Carenado (using Bert P's mods from this forum). I fly using IFR through the SE Alaska and Pacific NW from Orbx. I am using the GTN750 versions of these aircraft almost exclusively. Benefits include: 1. Much better interface (touchscreen) compared to G1000. I still haven't master the pages between menus and the page between menus options in the G1000, and the cursor seems to be unpredictable. 2. The terrain avoidance system (TAWS) in the GTN 750 is very helpful since I'm often flying through clouds in the mountains. However, can be annoyingly difficulty to shut up. 3. When I select an approach, correct NAV frequency is selected for the runway and loaded. Not sure if this happens with the G1000. Some 3rd party aircraft have some out of the box compatibility, some require mods. I highly recommend.
  7. This helped a bit with blurring, especially with the G1000 look, but produced some shimmering with some of the printing on the panel. Went for a nice flight this morning, not a deal breaker, but it just doesn't seem as clear as 2.5.
  8. I recently came back to P3D and for the heck of it "upgraded" to V 3.4 from V 2.5, which I hadn't touched for almost a year. Noticed two issues: "shimmering" of the some of the cockpit objects and well as a general blurriness to the VC panel. I fixed the shimmering with using 4 X SGSS from the Nvidia Inspector app, but everything still looks blurry, or out of focus. Cannot read any of the text on the panels or GPS. Trying to search for a work around but it was confusing, since many people refer to the shimmering or tearing artifact as "blurring". I found a post about changing the textures to mipmaps, but the application (DXTBmp)was not straight forward and I abandoned it. Would changing the textures to mipmaps from DDS help with the blurring, or is this another shimmer fix? Just looking on hear if someone found any easier solutions to this issue. Planning to reinstall 2.5 for now.
  9. Here is a pic of my FMS prior to departure. I have used the VS wheel and ALT knob to choose a VS of 2000 and an altitude of 10,000. However, I cannot change the default active mode from PIT to VS or ATLS prior to departure. When I click on VS or ALT, nothing changes.
  10. After experimenting this evening, I noticed I CAN pre-select the HDG or GPS horizontal guidance, and this will be active when I arm the autopilot after takeoff. These show up as green on the AP readout at the top of the FMS. The problem that I have is the plane taking off like a rocket. I can dial in the VS and altitude prior to takeoff , which show up as carets on the VS and altitude tapes, but when I arm the autopilot, it reverts to PIT. If I click VS or ALT after takeoff, it selects the current VS (usually 5000 fpm) instead of the one I pre-selected prior to takeoff. Same for altitude. I can't seem to activate either VS or ALTS prior to takeoff. Does the AP need to be on? If so, my AP does not "turn on" or light up. Clicking on the VS, FLC or ALT button prior to takeoff does nothing. Not sure how to make a video but I'll post a screenshot later.

  12. Thanks for your help. I have been flying GA aircraft in FSX/P3D for a number of years, and just now trying to learn about VNAV functionality/airways/approach procedures for jet aircraft. When I receive departure clearance with my assigned altitude, I would like to "dial" that into the AP prior to takeoff. However, I am not able to change the VS setting or "arm" the ALTS function prior to take off. I click the buttons and nothing happens. Once airborne, I can dial in the selected altitude, hit the VS button (which "arms" the ALTS functionality), change the desired VS speed and the autopilot levels off at that altitude. Never used the TOGA button to pre-set the FD prior to take-off, but I'll try that on my next flight,. When you say "per manual" about the autopilot functionality, which PDF are your referring to? Honestly, I looked through the documentation and I cannot find anything that looks like a manual...
  13. I haven't been able to get the mod to work correctly with the Phenom 300. I have been using the default GN 750 2D pop-up and stopped trying to get the mod to work. My understanding is the mod is not compatible with version 1.3.
  14. I see the problem. In Burt's mod, he replaces the Flight1 GN750 2D pop up panel with his own. This is indeed blank. When I go to an un-modded version of the Phenom, I can pull up the default 2D GN 750 panel and it works fine. I do like the touch screen interface of the GN 750, so at least having the 2D pop up helps. I have been successfully using the autopilot, but still haven't been able to "pre-select" my departure heading, climb rate or altitude prior to take off. Are people able to dial these in prior to takeoff then arm the AP? Thanks Chuck
  15. Perhaps, but the GN 750 works fine in the Hawker and Kodiac Quest. I will see if there is an update this evening.

  18. I have both the Hawker and the Phenom. I like the Phenom significantly more, autopilot issues aside. Unfortunately, I haven't found any P3D compatible business jets except these.
  19. Tim, I have been using this procedure but I can never get the ALTS to show up as "armed" consistently. Perhaps I wasn't "arming" ALTS prior to takeoff? Even if this works, it doesn't do me any good if I am directed to a different altitude during the flight. Let me know if you have any other thoughts on this. Sorry to hear this. The only issue I am having is with the ALTS function, although I admit that I like to hand fly my ILS approach and can't comment on the APR functionality of the AP.
  20. I just loaded 1.3 and I'm still having difficulty. Perhaps I am doing something wrong? I dial in the selected altitude, control VS with VS control. I believe once ALTS is dialed in, it should be "armed" in white lettering on the right side of the AP display on the FMS. When it reaches the desired altitude, ATLS should take over and maintain that altitude, correct? My work around is to control VS with the VS autopilot control, and just hit the altitude hold button when I reach the desired altitude. Anyone know how to arm the selected altitude on the AP?
  21. I think I'm on version 1.2 so I hope this fixes things. I am also having problems getting the GN 750 mod to work, even though it works great on the Hawker and Kodiak Quest. Wonder what we are doing wrong? I'm getting used to the G1000 and I'll problem fly the downloaded version if they fixed the autopilot.
  22. Louis: I'm glad I'm not the only one having difficulty installing the GN750 in the Phenom! Followed Bert's directions to the letter but still getting a black screen where the GN750 should be, even in the pop-up panel. Mod is working great in the Hawker and the Kodiak quest I have, not sure what I'm doing wrong. I'm otherwise OK with using the G1000. Any way to just replace the AP with something else? Chuck
  23. Question about the autopilot. Upgraded to version 1.2 but still having issues, perhaps it's me not doing something correctly. Trying to figure out how to "arm" the ALTS so that the VS stops at the dialed in altitude. Anyone want to give me the right procedure? Also, if anyone has Bert's G750 mod for this aircraft place PM me. I have his e-mail but I think he said he was on vacation. Thanks. Chuck
