  1. Yep same here : just uninstall, clean the folders and reinstall from RTM. Just takes a few min and gives you a clean state :)You need to apply the SP1c to the 8900 before installing the 6700.Just did a smooth take-off from CYYZ : I have to check again but unless someone did update my computer during the night I'd say the performance improvement is pretty impressive on my rig !Thanks for the hard work guysDavid
  2. Hi Maximus,You might want to consider "fscaptain" too. I own the three add-ons mentioned in this thread (xpax, fspx and fscaptain) and each of them has its own style. The learning curve for fscaptain might be a bit steep initially but this goes with a very rich and rewarding interaction. It is working like a charm with AS2012 and the NGX (dedicated interface with seat belts, cabin pressure and temp readings) and the developer has been very active since the first release (last major update 12/11).Happy flying,David
  3. If you're not a purist you can use the default ATC in VFR mode. That way you'll be able to fly the full SIDs and STARs in LNAV+VNAV and still interact with the ATC for takeoff and landing clearances. You'll also get the flight following and the radio chatter corresponding to the AI airplanes. For the approach in case you're using a weather generator and FSX doesn't grant you the runway you have chosen, just acknowledge and go on with your selected pattern. When you're on final you'll get the opportunity to "[request another runway from the controller]" and be granted the runway you're landing on.You might object that if the weather is bad and the airports are IFR only then you're stuck with the default vectoring. Well that's not completely true if you own the "EFB" add-on. Within EFB you can switch the FSX ATC between VFR and IFR on the fly. So you can start an approach in bad weather (with the ATC in VFR) and rely on the FMC for most of the descent. Then you switch to IFR and can get the clearance from FSX. I've already tried that, but I did the switching around 10000 and let FSX vector me to final in HDG+VS. I don't know if it's possible to carry on to the end of the STAR and then switch with the FSX ATC in IFR just "validating" the final approach. Anyway "winter is coming" so we should be able to try that soon enough ;) Happy flying,David
  4. For very long transoceanic flights I do suggest the A2A Stratocruiser with navigation based on dead reckoning and the se'xtant gauge by Dave Bitzer and Mark Beaumont. This is the ultimate solution againt boredom. Every half hour or so you have to plan your star shots then get your position from the se'xtant, report it on a map (not a "connected" nor "moving" one!), estimate the winds and plot a new course compensating for them... While doing so you need to closely monitor the state of the plane (the A2A Accusim engines and systems can and will fail on you if you're not careful)... That gives you barely a few minutes at each step to get some rest! Happy flying,David
  5. Hi all,Some online friends and I are meeting for FSX multiplayer flights with our A2A Simulations AccuSim B-17G on a regular basis. We tested multiplayer flying some weeks ago and were so happy with it that we have started a "round the world" multi-legged trip :)Our trajectory so far:Some photos:Our flights are based on detailed flight plans and old-fashioned nav techniques (but you won't be forced to do the maths !)Plane: A2A Simulations AccuSim B-17GSchedule: Saturdays 08:00 UTC (we're from Australia and Europe)Comms: Teamspeak 3Weather: FSX built-in updated real world weather engineFlight style: by the book! we take great care of our accu-sim modelled engines ;)Our roster is always open so if you're interested don't hesitate to send me a private message.Happy flying,David
  6. Hi Ricky,I've just solved my "black screen of death syndrome" by removing an extra unwanted video driver entry in the fsx.cfg (got the tip from a forum at flight1).If that may help...My config: FSX Acc on Win7 x64, i7 860, 4GB, GTX285Good luck,David
