simulator input into throttle quadrant
For a while now, I have been reading about homemade cockpit and I have decided to make the move. I am in the process of building a 737 throttle quadrant. I see that with the combination of FSUIPC and Leo Bodnar's card, the HMI connection is fairly easy. What I am wondering is, how can I have the simulator controling a part of the cockpit? For instance, to increase power in the simulator is easily achieved by manually moving the throttle handles forward, but if I want to adjust my speed via the MCP (autopilot), how is the information transmitted to the quadrant in order to have the throttle handles physically moved back? Looking forward to make this work. Cheers, Ben

FSBuilder tutorial not showing images
Solved it again. I installed sbuilder to desktop. It works now. The next step is to ensure that the files are compiled properly and sent to FSX. Sorry if this thread reads more like a diary but it is quite an adventure. I think I will go back to build my homemade cockpit instead.

FSBuilder tutorial not showing images
This enterprise of mine is getting worse by the minute. I open SBuilder x313 and now I have this message Access to the path:'C:\Program files(x86) Sbuilderx313\Tools\bglcomp.exe is denied This means I can play with it but can get it to compile. Wow. Even googling (lol) it did not give me answers. Cheers, Benoit Now I have Arithmetic operation resulted in an overflow. and it shuts down. I uninstalled and reinstalled three times so far. To no avail. Maybe I should take up knitting....lol....noway. Cheers, Ben

FSBuilder tutorial not showing images
I am sorry Paul. You are correct. It is Sbuilder. I have been reading so many things with FS, FSX, S... The pictures that are missing are the ones that I am supposed to see as I go through the document. They only appear as broken links (a sheet torn in half). All the pictures are in the same folder as the tutorial but it seems like they don't get picked up when the tutorial goes to html form. I will certainely look at the FS(there we go again...lol)developer site. Cheers, Benoit

FSBuilder tutorial not showing images
Hello again. Getting pretty enthusiastic about this simulator now. I downloaded the tutorial by Luis Feliz-Tirado and I just can't wait to do some new stuff. The only problem is that the images don't show up. I googled (can't believe this is a verb now!!)but the information is a little above my head. So if anybody can help a newbie, still at the bottom of the very steep learning curve, it would be greatly appreciated. Cheers, Benoit

JB Panels 777 FMS unabled to enter data
Hi everyone. Wanting to make the experience even more realistic, I downloaded the austrian_airlines_b777_fsx with a pretty elaborate FMS within the package. I reviewed the instructions on how to use the FMS (nicely explained in a PDF format), but I fail to be able to enter data onto the scratch pad. I know where it is located and what is its purpose but I do not know what button I have to push first in order to get the blinking prompt active. Thanks for your expertise, as usual. Cheers, Benoit

bglcomp.exe
Well, the problem has been solved and Intersection IMEBA is now on the approach for Pearson International. The issue is, according to a forum I read on Mutley's Hangar site, is due to a bug in FSX that does not recognize new bgl file newly added to the sim. The answer provided was to move the bgl file to a scenery that I knew was working, in this case, Ottawa airport. Bingo, the intersection point is now present in the map as well as GPS. I am in the process of building a homemade cockpit (737) but I think the tweeking of the software will be more monumentous of an endeavour. Cheers, Ben

bglcomp.exe
Thank you Joe for your prompt response. I guess the clarifying question is "what is an active scenery?". The reason why I ask is because I have followed Mutley's Hangar procedure to the letter but when I put the bgl file in the AddonScenery->Scenery, nothing is happening in fsx. Do I have to play with the settings in fsx thereafter? Thanks a milion. Cheers, Ben

bglcomp.exe
Before my eyes closed for the night, I read Jim's post on Windows 7. This morning, I race to the simulator with coffee in hand, took BGL compiler SDK file out of where it was and put it on my desktop. Voila! It is officially compiling. It appears to be an issue with "administrator" privileges. Now, if you could direct me into the proper forum for where to actually put this bgl file in fsx, it would make my journey complete... I think I will install a monument at that location and every time I flying into Toronto, I will execute a low altitude flyby just to remember you guys. :yahoo: Cheers, Ben

bglcomp.exe
Thanks Jim. I just registered also at FSDevelopers site in order to submit my query. As far as the location of the compiler, it was done automatically by downloading the SDK files from FSX Gold Edition disc 1. The compiler is located in the c:\program files (x86)\microsoftgames\microsoft flight simulator x sdk\sdk\environment kit\bgl compiler sdk. (lower case letters for convenience). The xsd file is right there also.I have been at this for three (now four) days and, although my learning curve is now exponential, I still cannot add waypoints to Toronto Pearson International.. :search: Thanks for your assistance, Cheers, Ben

bglcomp.exe
I do have the MSXML 4.0 SP2 Parser and SDK. I even had the SP3 parser, which I removed in case of conflict with one another. Sorry to be such a headache

bglcomp.exe
I greatly appreciate your patience with this issue. Here is what I did. I cut and pasted your message onto notepad and saved it as an xml file. I then brought the xmi file into the same folder as the compiler exe file. I opened a DOS window and wrote: BGLComp.exe test1.xml (test1 being the name of the file I saved your message under). Here is what DOS showed: INTERNAL COMPILER ERROR: #C2623: Couldn't open file: test1.BGL. INTERNAL COMPILER ERROR: #C2585: Unable to create output file 'test1.BGL This is where I am at. Again, your time is greatly appreciated. Cheers, Ben

bglcomp.exe
Good info. Wow, those discs contain a lot more than I thought. So I installed the SP1a first followed by the SDK.msi. When I tried to compile my waypoint (imeba), the same result occurred. Is there an xml file that you know that is accurately written so that I can check immediately if the compiler is working fine? Then I won't waste people's time with a file with a mistake. Thanks, Ben

bglcomp.exe
Thanks people for your expertise. As usual, the answers are very productive. Using the DOS Window made it easy to check the compiling process. The first error message states that the compiler could not open the xml file. Any thoughts? Thanks by the way for the link to FS Developers. That is my first time visiting and the information in there is amazing. Also, when you refer to "level", are you talking about "administrator" privileges? Thanks again.

bglcomp.exe
I apologize if I am in the wrong forum or if this topic has been beaten to death, but I tried to conduct a search and could not find the button on AVSIM FORUM home page. Anyways, here is the issue. Used FS2004 for many years, computer decided to crash, got new computer and could not find FS 2004 discs. I decided to buy FSX, to keep up with the times. I have to install many waypoints around CYYZ and I read the procedures that it involves. Unfortunately, it appears that the bglcomp.exe is not willing to work with me. When using the compiler, I get a flash of a message on a DOS screen, which closes to fast to read. I have FSX Gold edition, installed all the FSX SDK files as well as the msxml package 3 from Microsoft. Is there a way to slow down the error message in the DOS window? Thanks ahead for your expertise. Cheers, Ben

bglcomp.exe
Sorry if I am in the wrong forum or this subject has been beaten to death, but I tried to conduct a search and I could not find the button on AVSIM FORUM home page. Here it goes. Enjoyed FS9 for years, computer crashed, could not find my discs, bought FSX. I am trying to install waypoints around CYYZ for increased realism but the bglcomp.exe seems to be "wonky". When I drop the xml file onto the compiler (in FSX SDK), there is a flash of DOS Message, which I cannot read for the speed of closing, and the BGL file is not formed. I have FSX Gold Edition, installed the SDK off disc one, and after reading for the last three days online, I downloaded the msmxl package 3 from Microsoft. I read the FSX SDK material and even cut pasted their example (oil rig in Seattle) and tried it in the compiler. Did not work. I guess my first step is to slow down that DOS message but I don't know how. Thanks for your expertise in advance. Cheers, Ben

the ultimate
Sorry people but I just had to post this here. I have been flying Microsoft (may have been microprose at some point...) since 1987 on my monochrome (green and black) pc. I have been a faithful follower of all the great minds in this forum, although I never said anything...., but now I am taking the plunge... I am building my own 737NG cockpit. So help me God....LOL. This is a tribute to you people for the dedication and patience you have portrayed all these years, and I hope that my own dedication and patience will be a small reflexion of what I have learned here.Thank you again.Cheers,Ben

fs2004 does not exist
Good morning. Here is the latest with FSBuilder. I tried the registry repairs. Also, to answer some of the questions, I have FS9 (2004), my OS is windows 7. Also, I have installed FS9 somewherelse than the program files. I could not download any AI from WOAI and they helped me rectify the problem. My question I guess is; did I unzip FSBuilder in the correct location? (it is also out of the program files) Should it be within FS9? Should I have FS9 running before I start FSBuilder? Thanks for your time people. You guys are the best CheersBen

fs2004 does not exist
Merci C-Jean. I did not know that these existed. As far as the other way of solving the problem, I visited the two websites and I must admit that there is a lot there. I will search and get back to you.thanks again. Benoit

fs2004 does not exist
After so many years of flying FS9 as is, I have decided to spicy it up. Thanks to you guys and the people at World of AI, I resolved my problem with no AI traffic. What I would like to do is to modify and airport so that it looks close to the real thing. Jean-Lessage airport in Quebec is the one I am trying to replicate. I have all the landing plates and parking areas (thanks to VATSIM) and I downloaded FSBuilder. After numerous days debugging the problems with it (.ocx files not installed) I sat down and tried to start it and the only thing I get is this: "you must wait until SBuilder copies some bitmaps. The next time SBuilder rund in this computer it will be faster. Then I press OK, and it tells me "FS2004 does not exist on this computer". I searched for the last two days on Google for an answer but what I got was the type of jargon that only a computer engineer could understand. Did I install the program in the wrong folder?(again). I appreciate your help. Thanks in advance.Cheers

World of AI
You are the greatest. I went to WOAI forum, registered, wrote my problem and voila.....plenty of planes on the ground and in the air (maybe too much. I had to wait ten minutes to leave Toronto). Thanks again. (another satisfied customer)Benoit

World of AI
Good evening. I have been running FS9 on Windows XP for years and logged many hours in the air. I bought a new PC with Win 7 and was really excited to install the simulator on it so that I would not be slowed down by framerates. The simulator itself runs beautifully but I cannot download any AI traffic. I alwyas used World of AI in the past with its own installer, but this time, there are all sorts of problems. The one that comes back often is that, for example, I am loading AI West Jet, it tells me that WestJet Airline already exists. My only option is to repair it, and when I do, it tells me that none of the aircrafts are found. Is there something that I missed during the installation? Thanks for your time. It is really lonely out there.Ben

ai airline dates
Thanks Hans. It is during moments like these that I sympathize with my chemistry students when they are slow understanding... I appreciate your patience. Just to confirm what you have said; when I download a package from WOAI, let's say, Air Canada summer 2008, and then I read on the page that the models used are B762, B763..A320-200, A321, I have to go back to AVSIM and download all those AI aircrafts so that I can see them in Toronto. Is that correct? What if I dowloaded a AirBus 320-200 but it is of Syrian Airline, could I just download the repaint?By the way, I just watched a YouTube video on how to use AFCAD... It was great. Do you know if there are more "video" tutorial online? Thanks for your timeBenoit

ai airline dates
I agree with you completely that an airport with life is like candy. Unfortunately, after downloading tens of packages from WOAI and installing them in Heathrow and Logan, the only aircrafts I see are Orbit, Landmark...If you see what I mean. I don't know if I am flying the wrong VOR but it would seem that I cannot get the "life" or candy that you are enjoying. Do I have to download the individual AI aircraft that are mentioned in the WOAI file in order to see them appear in my airports? Wow! Wouldn't that be a sight...Ahrrrrr....candy (with the voice of Homer)Benoit
