  1. Hi, thanks for you replies. I use navigraph for charts and such so i don't think its ok for me to show those charts but on: http://www.portugal-vacc.org/pilots.php you can download a pdf for madeira, these are not up to date but pretty much the same thing as the approaches on navigraph. I understand if you dont want to download anything though. Thanks
  2. This isn't really a support question, but i thought i'd post it in this forum since im flying the MD-11 and want to learn it from this aircrafts perspective. Hope its ok!I was looking at the ndac charts for madeira funchal airport because i was going to do a flight from Sevilla to Madeira. I was going to leave descend from SNT and use the Santos Star (this is from the north..) then do either the NDB or VOR circling approach to Rwy 23. When looking at the charts for the NDB approach it seems like you can enter from the south (approach Y) and north (Z). The Y seems pretty straight forward, you cross FUN and then do a procedure turn to the right and when crossing FUN again on the 200 radial you continue for maybe 4NM and when at the FAF you turn to the right and line up on final. (Might be wrong here so please correct me if i am) Its approach Z that puzzles me though, it looks like a big holding pattern with the IAF and the FAF on the same fix, how would i perform this approach? I am behind the airport when i cross the FAF so would i do some kind of downwind leg and then turn? And also when and how would the VOR approaches be done? When looking at those charts, It seems like i would do a similar procedure turn if i came from the south, but if i came from the north i would instead link up at the IAF on the 212 radial and then cross the FAF at FUN vor, same procedure as NDB 200 Z?I still haven't got the hang on these kinds of approaches so it'd be great to get some help with this :)Thanks in advance
  3. Right now i have 0% airliners, and 0 GA, so i can fly for a while longer, and if i save i can reload from where i CTD'd; but this doesn't really make it fun to play. Im just curious about the AI traffic, i read somewhere that the thing that will make your computer slow is when fsx tries to calculate all the gates and such for the AI, but if you installed replacements like WOAI this would be fixed. Do i have to change anything else than just install the WOAI packages? And just to get back on the OS, Would you recommend me to buy a new, erm older graphics card or vista 64bit? Also the amount of RAM wont make a difference, right? Thanks in advance
  4. Could i somehow trick my OS to think that i only have 500mb of VRAM? Wow, and i thought the 1gb version would improve performance...
  5. So more VRAM is actually hurting me? Why is that? Btw, what upgrade of my system would be the most "bang for the buck" in terms of hardware? Thanks in advance.
  6. Hi, ever since i bought the 747-400X ive gotten these irritating out of memory CTD's. With some other addons like UTX and GEX it getting worse and on some airports i can't even get the bird up in the air before the sim crashes.Ive tried the IncreaseUserVA switch by editing to 2560 and then decreasing by 64 steps until i came to 2304 but so far no change. In the guide i read about this tweak the author (think it was the developer to GEX, NickN?) said that if it didnt work you should probably upgrade to a 64bit version (XP or Vista)My question is: Will upgrading to Vista 64bit get rid of these problems? Or do i need to do something else as well? My first priority is to get rid of the OOM's but if i could upgrade my rig cheaply with some part that would increase the performance, what would it be?Specs: Vista 32bit, Intel Core 2 Duo E8500 3.33Ghz (OC) 2GB RAM DDR2 (2GB are dead but ill return them soon to get new ones) Motherboard: MSI P45, NEO-F Socket 775 DDR2; 250GB HD (60%full) ATI HD4870 1GB RAM. I'd greatly appreciate advice on this matter because as it is now i can't even fly the Queen ;(Thanks
  7. Hi, im right now over the atlantic doing a frankfurt - new york flight and after battling with 110 knot winds that made the AP overbank so a disengage was necessary i encountered a strange issue, the glass panels froze. I didn't see it at first because i was in level flight but i think i caught a strong gust that made the panel bank about 90 degrees and the PFD was still wings level. The backup instruments worked though. After reloading from the last fsuipc autosave, it wasn't before maybe 10 minutes i encountered the same problem again, this time i saw it because i got suspicious but the perfect non moving speed, and then i saw that the DTG to next leg was stuck on 238.4nm.I've searched the forums for someone with a similar issue like me but i haven't found anything. Specs: Vista 32bit, e8500 3.33ghz (oc) 4gb ram (2gb dead, readyboost to "make up" for it.) Ati HD4870 1Gb.FSX Acceleration, UTE, GEX E, REX 2.0.. UserVA 2560 fix
  8. Hi, just thought i'd share with you all a great tutorial i found when searching around on the internet. Its on http://www.scribd.com/doc/2327687/PMDG-747...al-EGLL-to-KLAX and can be downloaded (you have to register) or printed (login not needed)William
  9. Thanks alot guys! Although i knew about the CDAP procedure (at least somewhat) from AOA, i guess i was overcorrecting :( Now i think my CDAP's will be more stable, thanks!
  10. Ok then i wasn't doing any wrong, thanks for the help. Updated my Sign aswell, thanks for that aswell :)
  11. Hi! First post on avsim so forgive me if im doing something wrong. I've searched around in the forums but I haven't found any topics about this issue. When I'm on the last portion of a Non-Precision approach and descending with the V/S function i get the green band showing me where I will intercept the programmed altitude, but if i touch the V/S scroll bar, for example changing from 800FPM to 700, the green line disappears. Is this normal, or am i doing something wrong? Its not that big of a deal as im often close to MDA at this time but it would be great if someone had an answer anyways. Thanks in advance :( MrGreen
