  1. Hmm, the ******* tweak, is that when you do 10 ave maria's before booting up the computer and then 5 before FSX? :( Sorry, just couldn't resist. On a more serious note, i think i have heard of it but do you have a link?Cheers
  2. Yeah, i guess my interest isn't as fanatic as it was a month ago, but i think it will change when we get more updates. Although i'd like :( we can't force them to be quicker, but i guess im preaching for the choir boys?EDIT: Btw, im thinking of updating my computer after the NGX comes (i want to see how it runs on my current setup) , with a i7 930, better PSU (750w corsair), nvidia GTX 480, asus p6 mobo and maybe 4g more ram. All this will cost almost as much as my current computer (intel 2 core duo e8500, 4gb, msi midend mobo, ati 4870 1gb gfx.) about 1200 euro. :( Is it a sound thing to do, or should i wait until i can get the same things cheaper or better things for the same price?
  3. Guys, i don't think reverse psychology works with PMDG :(
  4. I've thought about that too, but in VC. 1.0 for example makes it look like a jumpseat video from youtube, 0.40 how ever makes it look like your traveling faster than you should.
  5. Hi, speaking of the weather radar, and don't flame me if my comment is ridiculous, but wouldn't it be possible to get information from outside fsx (like REX WASys). I know that fsx tries to triangulate (or so i've heard) the weather so it wouldn't be very accurate in practice. But it would show where the bad weather is in reality, or am i completely wrong here? Anyway im completely ok with not having a Wx radar if it would just show where the clouds should be.By the way i read somewhere, sometime ago that aircraft maintenance engineers can get the vertical speed and/or G-force from the last landing in the fmc in case of a overweight landing or similar situations where they need to check if the aircraft has been damaged. This was on the 767 so the NGX might be completely different, but would it be possible to get a VS-reading of the last landing so that you can evaluate your landings?Anyway, thanks PMDG for making my dreams come true :)
  6. As Jay said this can be caused by tailwinds/headwinds shifting. In FSX when using real time weather, either from the fsx engine or third-party addons like REX the winds can do a 180 degree turn or increase/decrease a lot. This is often the case when the weather engine is set to download new weather every 10-15 min or every + 150 miles. If the weather has changed alot in this time it might be a big change in wind speed and direction. The best way to prevent this is either using FSUIPC to change degrees/knots per second to a low value (or a high value of seconds per degrees/kts) or just update the weather before the FAF. Hope it helps.
  7. Ok, thanks. Does anyone have any info about question one?
  8. If you are envious Dan, imagine being in my situation. I live 34km from Swedens major international airport (Arlanda, ESSA) and 10km from the closest airport (Bromma, ESSB). Not many planes taking off outside of my window, more like small dots already at cruise level. :(
  9. Hi, i have 2, quite unrelated questions, but i thought i'd ask them in the same topic to save space.1. Which aircrafts are the MD11's modelled on? In the FMC i can see that the MTOW for both the passenger and freight versions are 285.98. On wikipedia this is the MTOW for the ER-versions of the aircrafts. Is this the one the pmdg md11 was modelled after or is wikipedia incorrect? Also the max landing weight for the MD11 (pax) in the FMC is 207.x while on wikipedia it is 200, the MD11C however has an almost identical max landing weight of 208. So has PMDG modelled their aircrafts after a MD11F-ER and a MD11C?Wikipedia MD11 Specifications2. I have read a couple of posts on fuel planning for the MD11 and i am aware that PMDG cannot post fuel burn rates and that sort of info. What i am interested in is if someone know the SOP (for any airliner) relating to what kind of fuel amounts you should have for certain stages of flight, like final reserve, contingency and extra fuel. In the Cruise and Fuel plannin. pdf for the 744X the tutorial states that you should have either 24/19K lbs (international or domestic) of fuel as minimum landing fuel. Is minimum landing fuel the 744's version of final reserve? If you have any numbers that you are allowed to post for the amount of time/quantity you should add for contingency, final reserve and extra when planning for the md11 i would greatly appreciate it!Thanks
  10. Yeah, thats what i thought :D Thanks a lot for your help, i think im set.
  11. Ok, thanks bryan. So i have to align the IRS myself? Also, i have started doing freight flights. In the manual it says that i have to close the doors myself (cabin), that means i arm them aswell, right? When the flight is done, should i disarm myself or tell the cabin attendants to disarm slides?Just so i know for sure, are there any cabin anouncements i have to do as pilot on a freight flight, and if so, what are these? Thanks in advance, sorry for being a slow learner :)
  12. Hi, thanks for the help before, it worked. Unfortunately i have a new problem. If after a flight i want to do a new leg the FO won't do anything at all. I saw him open one panel, but he did nothing. At the time of writing i have 22 minutes left, and the purser has not made request for an evac test, the only one that has called was the engineer to ask if he could close the refueling panel. I hadn't refueled though because the FO hadn't started IRS alignment. I know that in some company procedures (like swiss) they do not perform most of the tests after a turn-around. Is this the case with Fs2crew? If so, am i as cpt supposed to align IRS? If fs2crew has modelled a turn-around, could you give me a brief "checklist" of what i am supposed to do as there is nothing about this in the manual? (ie 45'00'' do this, 40'00'' do that)Also, when after parking checklist, i clicked on the right key on the 1st fs2crew panel to skip the leaving aircraft mode and go directly to final cockpit prep, and then pressed start on the 2nd panel. Was this the right procedure? Thanks in advance
  13. Hehe. One problem i found, or its rather a problem if you are using FSP and fs2crew together is that the FO will release parking brakes after shutdown (or when chocks are in position) so if you are boarding at that time or anytime earlier than before the before start checklist is complete the FSP timer will begin. Worth to know if you are planning on using them both together.
  14. Dan, fs2crew and fspassenger is working perfectly together. I looked in the panel.cfg and saw that i have a whopping 1 panel to spare :( Having fs2crew, AES and fspassenger all together is a bit of pain to synchronise though, but i managed untill climbing through 12000 feet and the passengers started passing out from altitude sickness...In my quest to have everything go smoothely i had configured the md11 to be unpressurized instead of disabling pressurization altogether :(
  15. Dan, i think you misunderstood Matthew (or maybe i did ;) ) Fsacars is an acars/flightlog addon, it doesn't improve the lights i'm afraid :/ Anyway i have FSP laying around, so to say, in my computer, i think i'll install it because the only thing i really need when it comes to flightlogs is touchdown v/s.Btw, do you know if FSP will screw up the gauge/window limit on the md11 together with fs2crew?
  16. If i use Fsacars, will that cause a panel limitation problem with fs2crew? I thought that with fs2crew the panels are almost at 64.Flight keeper sounds interesting but im going to try fsacars first as it is for free. Thanks for the many replies!
  17. Does Fs2Crew have an effect on frames though? Just thought i'd ask while the topic is still alive...
  18. Hey. Been flying the MD11 a lot these past few days and with Fs2crew im having a blast.I'm quite okay at the landings and the hard ones occurs less frequently, but my ego would like to have it on paper :( Is there an addon (preferably free) that measures V/S on touchdown? I've heard of people referring to their V/S on landing so there must be a tool for this, or are they guessing? Oh, and it needs to be compatible with FSXAlso after looking at videos of night landings (mostly for the 747 though), the landing light doesnt nearly light up the ground so well as the planes in fsx. Now MD11 is alot better than most other aircrafts ive used when it comes to the light FX and i know you can't do anything with the ugly looking triangle thingy (or can you??) But wouldn't it be possible for me to just tone it down a little? Like dim the lights a bit? Nose landing lights becomes taxi lights and taxi lights are almost invisble...Anyway thanks pmdg for making such a great plane, and thanks to everyone that has helped me in the past on here. I gotta go, we're boarding!
  19. Hi, no, fast forward was never touched, but i saw now that my start center is 2008/09 and the md11 has a new update which i haven't installed. I never looked to see if there was any updates because i last time i used fs2crew (for 744X) the start center told me when it was out of date (or so i remember).Anyway ill update the start center and the md11 patch and hopefully that'll fix it, thanks.
  20. Hehe, yeah i guess my first question was a bit of a privileged problem sort of thing, but you can never be too realistic, right? ;)I have a lot of used postit cards on my computer desk, but as you said Dan, it does help memorizing the procedures.
  21. Hi, i recently bought the PMDG MD11X edition of fs2crew and although i haven't had time to thoroughly test it i think its very realistic, but i gotta admit i have a bit of a guilty conscience for not having to do the full preflight myself :DI have a couple of questions with both AES compatibility and a problem i discovered.First the AES questions: Do i have to do anything special when using Fs2crew together with AES? Also to synch the AES deboarding, cleaning, catering, fueling and boarding with fs2crew i've set deboarding to 6 minutes, cleaning to 10, fueling to 11 and boarding to 17 minutes. Does that seem right to the ones who own AES? I want the fueling and cleaning to be done by the time boarding is starting in fs2crew.Also, if i want to have AES do the pushback, is there anything i should configure, think about, do or not do?And lastly, i think i've come a cross a problem with fs2crew, or maybe its just a case of a pebkac error ;)Anyway, when at 35 minutes, the manual states that the FO should begin phase 2 of the preflight with starts (or maybe phase 1 ends, cant remember) with IRS put in nav, so that the cpt can begin fms setup. The FO doesn't however, i waited to 30 and the purser called me to do the evac test, and then the clock went to 27 and no irs alignment so far. Kinda screws up my setup because its a bit hard to do the evac test and phase 2 setup at the same time. How can i troubleshoot this error? Thanks in advance
  22. Thanks for the help, that put my mind at ease (about the procedures) I have printed out the advanced tutorial and made it look more like a checklist to faster memorize the stuff, but i was having a bit of a "guilty conscience" as i thought it wasn't as realistic :(Too bad about the flight dynamics of the LOC capture, but it isn't that much of a problem as it doesn't make you crash or anything like that, just looks a bit ugly i guess ;)
  23. Hi, after a long time flying the 744 exclusively i returned to the MD11 a while ago and i love it, i dont really know why i ever left her, because it is something about the MD11 that i can't really put my finger on, but it is an exciting plane. Anyway, i got 3 questions:1. After reading the advanced tutorial and using the preflight procedures in it, i saw that there was a part of the FCOM that had its own preflight procedures aswell, they are a bit different and a little harder to decypher, are the procedures stated in the advanced tutorial the "real" ones, or are they simplified?2. When the airplane is following NAV, for example in SIDs and STARs it often banks quite roughly, often waiting to the last moment and then banks fast instead of doing it a little earlier and more smoothely. Is this the real behaviour of the plane or just a bug/fsx limitation?3. Lastely, and this is related to the second question, when following the last portion of an ils approach the NAV is often a little misaligned to the localizer beam so that when you press APPROACH the autopilot banks hard to the left and the to the right or vice versa. Is this also realistic or a bug?Btw both the "problems" in Q 2 & 3 is experienced with the 744x.Thanks in advance! :)
  24. Yeah, i had logitech cordless joystick before and although it was quite good and stable it went to sleep every 2 minutes or something of that sort and when it did it would go to full throttle and try to crash your plane :( Cords are a little more problematic but in the end its a lot better, especially when it comes to joysticks.
  25. Thanks for the reply, i think ill just wait till the NGX comes and see, right now i have now actual problem with my fps to be honest. Sometimes it spikes and drops making it a bit laggy but i guess that has more to do with me having the fps unlocked.
