  2. Aaah screw it. I'm probably going for a fresh install except this time I'm going to back up. Never again! p.s Theres no doubt the occasional BSOD is due to the overclock, but the issue now was caused bt it crashing in the middle of an ORBX scenery library update. It corrupted the terrain file (not the scenery file) sorry. I know this as fsx told me so. In whatever phrase it used at the time. (I wish i'd made a copy) ;( Thanks for your help anyway guys. Dont make the same mistake as me.
  3. Unfortunately the disable all scenery still left me with the same problem even with everything unchecked I went into my fsx.cfg file as this is all I have in my scenery section (see below) no showtrigger line. I tried to add it, save and then boot up FSX but no difference I'm afraid [sCENERY] DAWN_DUSK_SMOOTHING=1 IMAGE_COMPLEXITY=5 LENSFLARE=1 MAX_ASYNC_BATCHING_JOBS=3 SmallPartRejectRadius=4.0
  4. Thanks Jim. I'm going to try that. Anything but a fresh install! I'll let you know how it goes... And to Anthony yes my PC is overclocked but its been working fine for a year until I it crashed during a scenery update. Then i got a message saying there were files missing in scenery.cfg or something.
  5. Nightmare. I got the dreaded blue screen of death whilst installing an ORBX library update. When I rebooted my machine it said something about my scenery file was corrupted or something similar. Now all my scenery appears with black flat vertical squares all over the place. :attached pic below The thought of a fresh install of my 150GB worth of scenery is too much to bear. (Which is why I just walked away from my machine for 2 months) But now I'm back and would love a solution if anyone has one. Otherwise its 20 hours of hell. Is there any diagnostics I can do on the scenery.cfg file to see where it may have become corrupted I wonder?
  6. Same here, Trying Brisbane to Cairns, CTD Every time I get to 18,000ft or so on the SID. Crashes about the same spot every time. Just completed the tutorial flight Gatwick to EHAM no problem. Think there might be some ORBX compatibility issues??
  7. Anyone else fancy a go at one of these beauties??
  8. @ smiffy. Thats great! More than happy to wait. I did my PPL in the US in 2008 but been flying out of Stapleford since. Great school with some great characters.
  9. Wonder if any of you masters of Mip maps might try to recreate one of Stapleford Flight Centre'sfamous (well in London anyway) Warriors.Sure it would put a smile on the face of 2 generations worth of London trained pilots...Its a humble request as I know these things take time and effort, but I'm just throwing it out there...I enclose pics of the different choices which vary in difficulty from a couple of stripes (still not easy I know)to the tricky but popular red piper scheme of the early eighties..
  10. Sorry for such a newbie question, butWhat are the functions of the buttons on the autopilot?Couldn't find anything in the manual do describe their functions.I've worked out the 1st one is heading hold but not sure about the rest.Any tips appreciated Dave
  11. I hope someone actually does this one day..I cant believe no-one has yet?!You could have the Jestream for domestics/ feeder flights,MD-11 for cargo operations, then you've got the 737 and 747 for the rest.It would be truly awesome.I'd definately join... so I guess so would every other PMDG fan.... and there's a lot of them.... :)
  12. Thanks soooo much guys. That was really helpful.Didn't realise the full fuctionality of the V/L button.Clacton here we come !
  13. Been loving flying the J41 in and out of London city using the SID and STARS that they use.But just found a SID (clacton) that's exposed a big hole in my knowledge. It seem to rely on tracking specific radials of VORs which I've realised I have no idea how to do on the J41???A scan of the Operating Manual has left me none the wiser. Can Anyone walk me through the process of doing this on the Jetstream.... Otherwise I'll never get to Clacton! :)Dave James
