1. I'll give it a try--I didn't know about that! That's all I really ever use a VC for, is to land and to make taxiing easier.
2. I liked the HJG except for the fact of no VC. When I was trying to fly it, I couldn't see over the panel down to the runway on approach, even if I made sure to be light on fuel, properly trimmed, flaps set, etc. The only way I could view the runway was to use F9 or W to make the panel disappear. That is just too unrealistic for me. I have other aircraft with no VC, but they are all flyable without removing the panel to see the runway. Alejandro's 727 with the Lufthansa paint job is gorgeous. The AT problem isn't a show stopper for me, because you still have the function, just have to use a different key combo to make it happen.
3. No idea really. I do know that it is quite a bit more challenging to fly than any of the default jetliners that come with FSX. Fun. With a sound pack from HJG, I feel pretty immersed when I fly it. One quirk it has is the autothrottle setting is not switchable from the panel or keyboard--you have to use the IAS button on the panel or CTRL-R to toggle IAS hold. Not a big issue for me, you just have to remember that SHIFT-R will not do anything.
4. There is another freeware 727 at flightsim.com that is excellent. It does have a VC, and comes with 727 sound, which is cool, but I liked the sound packages from the HJG site better, so I use them. It comes in 4 liveries, and is really fun to fly. The filename is fx2b7272.zip
5. You can go into options/controls/key assignments and assign a key combination to it. I used control-quote. That way you can turn it on or off as you wish for each aircraft.
6. I do this a lot. I like re-creating actual flights I've been on with the appropriate aircraft and routing, and getting used to the routes so that I already know the approaches, frequencies, runway headings, etc. When I want to test a new aircraft, I usually fly from Edinburgh, Scotland to Glasgow, Scotland. This flight is very short, almost all of it is takeoff, climb, descend, and land. When I want to go a little longer I'll do Glasgow-Dublin, or Glasgow-Manchester, or Dublin-Manchester. I also like to do Chicago-IL to Champaign-IL and back. Every now and then I'll throw in a Glasgow to Amsterdam or Reykjavik or something like that, and go to a new airport. That can be quite exciting, especially if I do it at night.
7. I went ahead and downloaded a couple of different ATR aircraft from flightsim.com. Neither of them have the problem that I am having with the Denmark Package version. Tapping F1 at 60 KTS cancels reverse properly, and I can then taxi forward to exit runway and taxi to parking or gate. The ISDT Cimber-Sterling ATR-42 is a pretty nice plane, but it does not seem to have a virtual cockpit. What's weird is that it uses the same panel that the Denmark plane uses, and the panel.cfg files both have parameters for the VC, but it doesn't show up in the Cimber ATR-42. I wonder why. I see that the panel.cfg file references some textures with names like "$panel_r", but I can't seem to find where these should be. Anyone know where VC textures live? If I could get a VC to show up in this ISDT Cimber-Sterling ATR-42, I would probably ditch the Denmark version.-dp-
8.

Thanks for the info.I have a couple of other turboprops that I fly (Dash-8, Fokker F27) and when I land them, I come in with the autospoilers armed. As I approach the point of touchdown, I flare and reduce power to idle. The spoilers deploy, and as the nose comes down I mash F2 to engage the thrust reverse. At about 60 KTS, I tap the F1 key (which should do the same as your quick up and back down throttle manipulation) and the thrust goes down to idle, I continue to brake until down to taxi speed, retract flaps and spoilers, then taxi my way off the runway and proceed to gate or parking.Everything is the same with this ATR-72, except I can't figure out how to go forward again when I am down to taxi speed. Increasing the throttle spools up the engines, but the plane goes backwards. For what it's worth, I find that I don't really need the reverse thrust, but I'd like to figure this out just because!
9.

Are you ending your flight right then, or do you continue to taxi? I'm able to get the engine to go back to idle thrust fine, I just can't get the aircraft to go forward again. I wonder if maybe it would be doing the same to you if you were trying to taxi forward after reverse thrust. I also don't understand how you can be using joystick throttle control to cancel reverse thrust---wouldn't the control already be all the way down if you had just landed? How are you engaging reverse thrust?
10. Hi all.I have been flying Francisco Sanchez-Castaner's excellent freeware ATR-72 Denmark Package planes. The problem I am having at the moment is how to cancel reverse thrust on the ground. I can engage it by holding F2, and then pressing F1 spools the engines down, but once I've stopped the plane on the runway and attempt to taxi forward to the taxiway to exit the runway, the plane wants to go backwards! Not good! I've tried various permutations of CTRL-F1-F4, Shift-F1, etc. Nothing seems to work. Anyone know how to get it going forward again for taxi?
11. Hello, I am getting back into FSX after a couple of years of focusing on other hobbies. I have the deluxe edition of FSX recently installed on a Dell XPS 410 comp with 4GB Ram, Quad core proc, nVidia 8600 GT Card. Running at 1680 by 1050 resolution, getting 24 FPS.What I'm looking to do is fly a couple of flights that I'll be taking in May. One is from KCMI to KORD, second leg is KORD-EGLL, and then EGLL-EGPF.I'm trying to figure out realistic flightplans/altitudes/approaches. I know how to use the MSFS flight planner to find routing, but I'd like to go as prototypical as I can. I have a very basic understanding of NAT tracks for the transatlantic portion of the trip. Thanks for any help!David PaulAmatuer Radio N9RZF
