I’m not sure what you mean by copying DLLs into the P3D folder.

From the C:\Prepar3D folder there are number of files starting with D3D. I took the similar named files from C:\Windows\System32 and replaced them (i.e. newer versions of the files) ... maybe placebo but seems to have helped me

I can no longer remember where I found the suggestion to do this though...

Probably because very few now reporting the problem.

What graphics card? Have you followed instructions in the first two pinned posts?

AMD 6700 XT ... Tried those before. I had more luck copying some of newer versions of DLLs into the Prepar3D folder. I tend not to have these issues with the PMDG birds.

I'm an old VFR SoCal pilot IRL. I mainly fly bush planes low level in P3D 4.5. Photoscenery would be helpful and enjoyable but I seem to remember some complaints when TE SoCal was released. On my aging machine I have been running SoCal and NorCal regions quite successfully. I'd love to add TE SoCal but I don't want to waste $23 USD or bog down my machine.

Any feedback from actual owners of TE SoCal would be greatly appreciated.

The True Earth photo scenery is extremely red. There was an ORBX forum post where they acknowledged and then basically said "meh".

For NorCal there were complains about them being lazy on bridges when they had higher quality ones in the past.

It also needs around 150 GB to install (~75 for the installer and the 75 for the result) which then you can delete the installer.

For these reasons I was considering the more "programmatic" regions.

  4. Thanks for all the input ... maybe i'll wait for a bigger sale.

I don't think I'll have the time to do my own ortho.

I have the seen the thread about Vector before but again seems like the upgrades in P3D V5 around that data negates the need for that in NA. I am intrigued a bit by Rogen's V4 setup but it seems odd to shell another $60 on an old version of P3D at this point in time.

  5. I had a ton of fun with FSX PNW back in the day. Are the "classic" Orbx regions still worth it for P3D V5 given the upgraded "vector" data? I already have the FTX Global and OpenLC.

I bought TrueEarth California but the scorched earth textures and very large file sizes make it a no go for me.

I fly both GA and airliners in P3D mainly in the California regions.

A simpler solution: Go to flightsim.to and download "AIFlow" and "AIGround". They MASSIVELY improve AI traffic behaviour (runway incursions, approach speed et.), and what's really handy: You can easily manually define runways-to-be-used-by-AI, so you can make AI depart on this runway and land on that one or whatever you want. Also very useful in MSFS because it effectively hard-codes the AI to certain runways, so wind changes in MSFS won't mean anymore that you'll suddenly have AI taking off right into you on your final approach. I use it each and every flight and immersion has increased so much.

    Thanks will check this out!

I have tried FSHud but sometimes it gives me some weird arrivals and departures and the default ATC can be quite fun under the right circumstances

  7. I used P3D v5.4. I used the AMD driver overlay to see the enhanced frame rates which was roughly doiuble the Shift+Z frame counter. It was enabled in whatever P3D full screen was by pressing Alt+Enter.

Because I prefer to fly windowed I didn't test it out too much. I didn't immediately notice any graphical glitches.

I've also used this a bit with MSFS and also haven't found any significant glitches.
