My first ever airplane I have been on was a B737-200 operated by Hapag Lloyd at the age of 4.
  2. I replaced my card with my old one today and it is as I suspected: since I hace higher settings in FSX, AA performance is not much changed from what I have seen with my 550Ti, with dense clouds and Super-VCAA Setting I get about 7 FPS which is low, and also the stutters occur for some reason. However, they do not at 4xS, and in this mode the GTS250 Performance is way higher than with my 550Ti, and as I said, AF forced at x16 has virtually no impact with my old card. The worse Performance of the newer card is also evident in furmark, where xtreme burning mode runs with 8 FPS at the GTS250 and 5 with the other one.....I think I will return the 550Ti to the seller now as the problem with AF is easily reproducable with any games...
  3. I got your point, but speaking of low-end: I had a GTS250 with 512MB of RAM before, I could run FSX with forced 16x AF and 8xSQ AA (exactly nickn's settings) at little FPS cost, especially the AF setting had almost no impact on performance, with a difference of maybe 2 FPS if any, I latereven used the SuperVCAA-Setting with that card. On my GTX550Ti now, forced 16x renders the sim unflyable, which is odd because its still FSX, I still use REX clouds and textures and FSX is more of a CPU-eater than GPU.I later replaced that card because of the lack of VRAM and a loud fan. I still have that one here and will give it a test soon....
  4. OK thanks, but I still think there is clearly something wrong here. May GPU does simply not perform as it should. I used nickn's inspector settings now, with 8xSQ and forced 16x AF, These settings cause exactly the same stutters in bad weather as the Super-VCAA Setting, setting AF to app controlled again does ease it up a bit, but according to Tabs from PMDG Support AF is virtually for free on modern cards.During my test i had GPU-Z running and despite the major stutters I got the GPU load and memory usage never went above 75% and 375MB of VRAM. Could this be the bottleneck of having DDR3-VRAM?
  5. Sorry, its just my experience from years in forums to stop the flaming as soon as possible ;)I already did the testing and yes, the sutters are gone that way. They come back in a lesser extend when using 8xSQ, which also is supersampling. This still confuses me because the Super-VCAA was once found by the community to run more smooth than 8xSQ and on my old GTS250 Card it actually did, I even was able to run ENB mod on top of it but stopped doing so because its incompatible with FSX's highmemfix and causes random crashes. It would be a shame and a reason to dump the card if I would not be able to use any supersampling on it, considering i got a 3072MB version.
  6. Well maybe clarifiying myself will stop you from thinking that I am completely stupid: the stutters I get are different from the normal "bad performance" stutters, with low FPS, you also notice slow reaction time from everything you input to the sim.....however thats not the case in what I am experiencing......let me give you an example: your in outside view looking at the tail of your aircraft, panning to left or right quite fast, in the next frame, instead of circling around the a/c, you jump instantly ahead of the airplane, looking through the cockpit windows. It feels like every few frames there is one that hangs, and then skips the next few ones.sounds quite strange, I know, and I tried to record a fraps video to show what I mean, but just to add to the mystery, the problem is gone everytime while recording a video with fraps. Also the external FPS limiter does not seem to make a difference.maybe now you will notice that I am not playing dumb here but having a problem I never have heard about before.....
  7. Hm, I can give it a try as soon as I have landed ;) but my only problem is I love that setting ;) and the stutters were not there for months, only in past few weeks I got them. Don't know if the last driver update was the cause....
  8. In nvidia inspector I use that AA_MODE_METHOD_SUPERVCAA_64X_4v12 set to override and ecept for the cloud issue my performance is quite good.I wonder if there is any way to make my card use more of its memory to ease the load on the GPU.
  9. Ok, after altering the stratus cloud occurrence to about 15 % the squares seem to vanish. What still is there is the strange performance hit. I also noticed that when viewing large amounts of clouds my GPU load goes up to 100 %, but there is never more memory used then 400 MB (I have 3072MB on my 550Ti).
  10. I still use the normal ASE with stratus setting on 20 %, never remembered having visible squares.....
  11. Hi everyone,my FSX started to make clouds look funny recently. I use REX clouds at 2048 resolution together with ASE in DWC mode, visibility limited to 50 nm in ASE and max cloud layers set to 3. Cloud Draw Distance is set to 4 in FSX.cfg.Now since a few days, it very often looks like this:performance when viewing those clouds is also extremely bad, going down from 20+ FPS to about 3 or 4 after a while of panning around in outside views. The FPS indicator often does not drop despite extreme stuttering. Those squary cloud sections are also flashing and reappearing sometimes....
  12. Me neither, just because I mentioned PMDG in my postings does not mean I expect all aircraft to be like the NGX, this is generalization. I mainly compared the 737 Evo to their own v1! And I honestly think that, beside of some switches now being 3d, in terms of visual quality this is in no way an updated version of v1, but a step back in visual quality! Of course we can wait for McPhat to release a payware livery on that plane, but thats not the point. The point is that this is in no noticeable way a modernized version of the previous 737, and thats what ppl are expecting because the original flight model and systems sim of v. 1 was very good, there wasn't a need for an update. When you try to bring a well programmed sim from 2002 to 2012, your main concern is technology in terms of multimedial features like graphics and sound. Wilco fails in this aspect.
  13. They are doing something that PMDG and CS do, and what I am missing with Wilco: they are actively including the public in their forums in the developement process! Such a bomb like 737 Evo would never have happened that way.
  14. Guess not all of us were that smart, I was really hoping for a good FSX native 737 classic...so much for this.....I still think this is a prematurely released alpha-version (even for a beta there are too many glitches) in an ill-advised attempt to catch the christmas business.
  15. Well OK, I wasn't that well informed about internal structured of the company, but I think Wilco will get a mail from me....
  16. OK, I got my PIC 737 v2 last night, and I must say I am a bit disappointed. It appears to me the product was released in a hurry before cristmas (what really would explain the discount until December 23th). For me, I loved v1, it was one of my fav planes to fly, although it was ageing. I used v1 on FSX along with shockwave 3d lights and the TSS CFM56-3 soundpack for FS2004, which worked extremely good and it was one of the most immersive planes I had (and still have). So, I am one of the persons who got the direct comparison, here are my impressions:-the VC is functional, although its not a captain sim or PMDG one. For me, it just lacks detailed textured and looks waaaay to clean and sterile. All the switches work as with version 1, but I also think thats the best that FT could possibly do. The new night lighting looks good, but is very simple in functionality. As with all FT planes, you cannot control instruments lighting and dome light independly. But also at night, some misplaced geometry becomes evident, namely the green lights on the radio panel which are cut off by the freq display and the ILS marker lights to the left of the main panel, which look a bit strange. At night the cockpit also looks way to sterile.-The animated cabin is the same of all three planes and only consists of 54 seats!!!!!! o.O And yes, I counted them, because the whole thing looked too short for a 737 to me. Also, the info screen from v1 is missing. Also: when you use the key bindings to move backward in the cabin, you will notice that the polygons of the seat backs are missing and they are transparent from behind. What kind of cheating is this?-Same applies to the external model, while it has transparent windows and wing flex as well as lots of animations, it just lacks realism! The plane looks just too much like a computer model....of course it is, but v1 did not! V1 looked like a used plane with detailed textures! In terms of textures v2 is a huge step backwards. The shine of the landing lights on the fuselage at night is also missing, which looked very immersive at v1.-Sounds are buggy, they got the famous too loud idle sound with them, which was found out to be a soundpack fault, I then installed TSS on the plane again. So, this is my first impression, Ill be back after a test flight but still:FEELTHERE: for the sake of my spent 45 € on the deluxe version, PLEASE ADRESS THE THINGS I MENTIONED IN AN UPDATE! I like the 737 classic and there are not much of them around, and I trusted you, because of v1, thats why I bought v2!Until then, I will be flying v1!
  17. Well, If I may state a wish here: you have already done the possibility to add a WXR to the MD-80...... ;)
  18. A question from a noob: do all these ATC addons fully replace the default ATC....in terms of vectoring my AI traffic and assigning me a gate and so on? how do they work with WoAI for example?
  19. Christoffer Petersen has released a fix for this problem available at the TSS support forum:http://79.170.44.141/turbinesoundstudios.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=1599&p=2332#p2332
  20. Well, the CLS default sounds on the DC-10 and 747-200, which are ported over from FS2004, do phase as well, but with them its the interior engine sound that is way too loud on idle. Seems to be a different problem though.
  21. That one:http://turbinesounds...=boeing-747-fsxthe vid also shows nicely how its supposed to sound right. Its FSX native.TSS support doesnt really care about my thread in their support forum....
  22. Since I cannot find my old post regarding that issue, I open up a new one. I now have a video to describe my problem of sounds not properly mixed and continuing when engines are shut down.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Oa5Im9lt-uMI changed my sound card with no effect. Anyone else got an idea? This is really a strange issue, since I seem to be almost the only one with it and on my system its almost completely independent from hardware.
  23. Sorry for necro-posting but has everyone made any progress with that?I also have this problem, namely with the PMDG 747 and CLS DC-10 running on TSS native FSX sounds. (the engine sound is mismixed, way too loud on idle and still there when turning off the engines) and all CLS planes.Using a VIA VT1708S on-board sound, my biggest suspect is the way those low-end sound devices handle FSX sounds.
  24. Well, suppressing the effects in FSUIPC did as I expected, turbulence is still there from ASE, and thats all I wanted. There really seems to be a conflict between both of them. Pete Dawson should consider giving the nonregistered version (which is required by many addons) the option to turn off added wind effects. (no one gets something he hasnt paid for that way) as ASE adds them as well and to prevent these problems, you need to buy a license.
  25. right! I was really happy when I once found that "bug", I frequently do long haul flights over night now and contact ATC again next morning.
