  1. Hello folks, TFDi Design is hiring developers for our two upcoming products. We are currently seeking developers for the following positions: *Flight Dynamics Editor (making .air files, some basic aircraft.cfg knowledge required)*Internal texture artist (for making cockpit textures based on pictures taken by our staff)*Two 3D models (for our scenery department)*Two scenery texture artists If you feel you can fulfill any of these positions, please contact me on these forums, email admin@tfdidesign.com, or send an application via our contact page, http://tfdidesign.com/contact-usThese of course are paid positions, and we always have extra tasks one can do to pick up some extra cash. We move at a good pace most times, and we are always doing something. You can reach myself or Drew Fix on our Teamspeak 3 server as well (subjective to time, as we are in Eastern and Central time) at ts.tfdidesign.com More information can be discussed via private communications if you are interested. 2. I'm loving it, but I need some more RAM. Getting a new stick from work tomorrow, hoping it freezes less (it's still a 2001 computer LOL). I have not been dissatisfied yet, and I have only scratched the surface. I will get my hands a little deeper in it soon, I can't wait to see what else I can make happen! Any ideas (as there have been good ones already) are welcome!
  3. Wine looks quite appealing, but no TrackIR support definitely is a HUGE turnoff, I will be looking into Wine for getting things like Vatspy to work, (as this will be my second computer, with my main Windows computer running FSX normally.)
  4. Well folks, My machine has been broken for some time, and I got bored waiting for parts, so I installed Ubuntu 10-04. I have never been so impressed with an OS before in my life. Being a Windows user and nothing but for years now, it was a complete shock to find that Linux/Ubuntu really is that much better. Everything loads faster (even on a 2001 computer with 512MB of RAM), it played my sounds through my surround sound system like a personal home concert (an effect Windows has never given me) and has done nothing but win yet. If Flight Sim would run on Linux, I would become a spokesperson. PLEASE do not flame me, I am still a PC user, but I also appreciate the benefits of Linux, and I encourage everyone to at least try it and get an opinion of their own, as it does not require you to touch your existing Windows OS to install it.
  5. Nice to be in the loop, although it's not today, what's one more week? I still really want my -700!
  6. I am hoping that's not the case, but if it is, it's not too big of a deal. The reason I ask is that Robert had mentioned releasing it together with the service pack. Anyway, thanks, I can still hope though.
  7. HI there guys, I am not pushing for any extra information, I am just trying to confirm if I should be excited to get my hands on the -700 today, or if it is being held for the additional time Robert talked about a bit back. Either way is fine, I'm just trying to plan my day.
  8. Thanks! I used to use only the Collins, but I have been trying to change it up a bit lately, and I have fallen in love with both variants now!
  9. Hi there guys, Now that I have my NGX working properly, and my new TrackIR5 package, I figured I would take some cool shots. I was climbing out of Tampa at this point, in my Continental 737-900, EFIS/MAP, Honeywell MCP, and analog standbys - (my favorite standby!) Tell me what you think!
  10. That is true, but the newly installed files may be more fragmented than files installed with the program. I had a far-fetched idea, I am just trying to help. I had an issue with the NGX for a while, and I want to make sure no one goes with out it.
  11. No, I have seen it happen. Users that have HD textures enabled WILL see freezes on some machines. FSX out of the box cannot support 4096/4096 texture resolution, even at maximum resolution in the settings. You must physically tell it to use the full HD by eding the FSX.cfg to load in 4096/4096. This is the process I was speaking of. Some users (if they use REX, which does it automatically) may have automated tools that do this changed without their knowledge. Although these freezes I talk about are FSX actually freezing, it is definitely a memory issue, and seeing as though these freezes are appearing on certain variants in certain airports, are re creatable for the users that have them, BUT only some users have it, it definitely appears to be a user specific setting/hardware issue somewhere.
  12. WAIT. GUYS. I jsut realized, the textures are 4096 by 4096, and whenever people enable this feature (actually using HD mode) it seems to freeze SOME users' FSX. I wonder if this is connected to the panel freeze?
  13. I am glad it worked! I actually got that information from a post by another developer, *******, so thank him! All I did was relay information, but I am still I was able to help you!
  14. open your FSX.cfg (hit the Windows key and R at the same time, type in %appdata%\Microsoft\FSX and open the fsx.cfg in notepad) under the graphics section, [GRAPHICS], enter HIGHMEMFIX=1 It sounds like a memory issue.
  15. I rrealized later that is was yet another hardware conflict causing that not to work.
  16. lol, ok. Thanks! I have discovered that my other hardware have assigned ghost buttons to the flaps as well, and the reason the F6 keys aren't working has to do with TrackIR button conflicts.I removed all the odd buttons and will be retesting.
  17. No, I agree. As portrayed by my clipart above, I recognize my mistake.
  18. I can teach you, you just have to have a registered FSUIPC. Once you get the base outline, it's not bad. I'll PM you with more details.
  19. I am talking about the airplane CLIMBING the nose down, the plane will descend with the nose down, as it is very slippery.
  20. Well, I would like to officially revise my NGX nose down climb issue reports. I have discovered the exact reason, and I will explain it as I understand it. The PMDG 737NGX users a custom flaps system, as shown by the default F6 and F7 not controlling them. I was using FSUIPC to calibrate my flaps axis, which was using the default FSX flaps engine. This works to the degree that the NGX will show my flaps are down, but the hang up is on retraction. I repeated this test multiple times; I disabled FSUIPC, no nose down climb. I enabled it, but changed no settings; No nose down climb. I calibrated my throttle, speedbrake, and reverse thrust, no nose down climb. I calibrated my flaps lever through FSUIPC, BOOM, nose down climb! So, with that in mind, I played around with some settings and discovered through testing that the airplane is flying at though it has around flaps 10, despite no indication of that on the instruments. This is caused by a mis-match of information from my TQ-6. I am currently in the process of writing LUA commands for the NGX flaps movement to program to my flaps lever for use, and for the time being, I will just click the flaps handle. So, thank you to the people who have all thrown your ideas in, and I cannot believe it took me this long to really listen to what everyone was saying. Once again, I look like a for blaming PMDG for a problem they didn't even cause. Any recommendations as to throttle calibration fixes are appreciated, although at this time my NGX finally works.
  21. Ok, I can confirm that the flaps were up, but, it may have been a TQ-6 issue with the LE devices. I am repeating the rest with some ideas from CrewF16, I will report back...
  22. OK, Well after some more attempts to fix my nose down climb issue. I have re-installed Windows just recently, and with a new install of FSX, I have ruled out corruption. Then, I though it was weather. The FsInn weather is completely disabled, using both the UI menu options setting where the weather is coming from, and the FsCopilot disabling FsInn weather, pressure, etc. No luck. I cannot run without FSUIPC4, as it runs my TQ-6. After my last attempt, I tried disabling my addon default situation (The Cold and Dark Mod), I got this result: Takeoff was from Barrow Alaska, PABR, and the rest is explained below...I am just about trying, any last ideas would be great, Weather is courtest of Active Sky Evolution, FSUIPC4.72, Registered. One more attempt and I am retiring this bird early, as there seems to be no fix in sight for me, at least for now...
  23. It is happening on a fresh install of Windows. I just finished formatting and reinstalling two days ago - it happened on the first flight.
  24. I agree, the NGX is entirely inop for me, so I am just not flying it anymore. No one's advise works, so I am out of luck.
